Wendy S.

Hollister, CA

About Wendy

Hi My name is Wendy S. and I love teaching music lessons. I especially like working with kids and beginners, and giving them a great start on their musical journey. I have been teaching piano and voice for over 30 years and enjoy it more now then ever. I want my students to have a positive and happy experience with their lessons. I love motivating children and I 've got some great trick for keeping them practicing and growing as musicians. . I like to give my students music of all styles with an emphasis on the fundamentals. That way they will have the technique to move into whatever styles
of music that they like. I have been teaching for over 30 years, and I also performed professionally for over 20 years, playing piano and singing throughout the S.F and Bay area.I also teach in a local charter school and I have a current background check which I can provide. I also enjoy playing for private parties and love doing kids musical and Karaoke birthday parties.

I really enjoy working with special needs students. I will adapt my lessons plans to make them work for each specific student. It has to be a positive and fun experience. I feel that the joy of music helps these kids deal with some of the stresses they must deal with on a daily basis.

*** Lesson Details ***
The lesson consists of a warm-up, scales and chords, pieces in the books, and a few fun songs . While I am teaching I like to keep the mood light and happy, a little laughter and lots of positive encouragement. When students come back the next week, I always look for the positives and tell students how proud I am of how much they have already accomplished. Piano lessons should be a fun and positive experience. But don't worry I get results !

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Yamaha upright and lots of keyboards

*** Travel Equipment ***
Keyboards, full P.A.and Karaoke equipment.

*** Specialties ***
I really enjoy helping kids get ready for vocal auditions and have had really good results with my vocal coaching.

I also enjoy playing private parties, Holiday parties, and Birthday parties. I do children's Birthday parties. For the 3-5 year old group,
I bring instruments and light-up keyboards and we play music games.

For the 6-12 year old group I bring my Karaoke set-up with microphones and we sing Taylor swift, and Disney favorites. It's very Fun !!

In just 3 lessons Wendy has shared several hints which increased the amount of volume my voice produced and approaches to improve the couple of notes where my voice breaks. She worked on songs that I especially wanted to perform and suggested other keys to use that are in a better range for my voice. I have wanted to take voice lessons all my life and finally now that I'm retired I am treating myself to this wonderful new experience. I'm enjoying learning and look forward to each week's lesson.

Wendy is an excellent voice teacher and coach. Her particular expertise lies in quickly identifying areas that can be improved, and offering targeted and effective methods for achieving those improvements. As an adult learner, I very much appreciate her friendly, no-nonsense approach. After only a few lessons I am already much more in touch with my voice and have greater confidence. I highly recommend Wendy for anyone who would like to rediscover the joy of singing.

About Joe

I'm a professional percussionist and educator based out of the Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz, CA. I received a B.A. in Music from Humboldt State University and a Masters of Music from Long Beach State University.

Versed in drum-set, hand drums, and Western, and contemporary percussion, I've performed professionally in settings ranging from cruise-line house bands and symphony orchestras, to Hong Kong and bay area parades and festivals.

In addition to teaching privately I host a twice-weekly Brazilian percussion class called Bateria Samba Cruz at the Tannery World Dance & Cultural Ce
