"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Maureen for the piano lessons you have been giving to my mom.. It was so wonderful yesterday my brother
and his family came to the house and mom played "Love Me Tender", of course by Elvis Presley. It was a tear jerking moment. Mom has had issues with her brain from a car accident, and her piano lessons with you have been the best, best thing for her....from our entire family, Thank you"

"I sat in the room while 5 year old Maia had her lesson with Lisa. Maia seemed relaxed and able to follow Lisa's instructions. I was really impressed with
Lisa's approach to the lesson and feel lucky to have connected with her. Maia said she likes her teacher too and was able to show me what she learned in her first lesson! Looking forward to future lessons with Lisa!"

It took awhile to get my granddaughter to singing lessons but now that she has started them, she is having such a great experience. She h
asn't let us listen to her voice at home but we are waiting for that day when she will. All I know is, she is learning a lot from her teacher and is anxious to go to her lessons every week. Her teacher is a very accomplished musician and has encouraged my granddaughter to be able to try and develop her love of music through her voice. I am so thrilled I found her teacher and we chose her by her schooling and credentials. I don't know where these voice lessons will lead my granddaughter, if anything we just want her to enjoy the journey and if it helps her with her self esteem, that will be a great accomplishment. I can't say enough great things about her teacher, she has been wonderful for my granddaughter. I read what her teachers background has been and what she is currently doing, it meant a lot to my granddaughter to know that about her. We are very impressed with her knowledge and how she is handling my granddaughters lessons. Thanks for the great teacher!"

"I started violin at 18. I've had about five violin teachers so far, including a university violin professor. Rosey was my most recent teacher.
was the most successful at portraying the requirements of the skills I was trying to improve. She was adept at descriptive language and analogies, which made the lessons easier to understand. I quickly noticed Rosey's deftness and grace, both in technique demonstration and general body language.
I'd still have her as a teacher, but alas, she moved to Texas. Rosey - Good luck in the Lone Star state :)"

Up for the challenge...
I am a professional musician, playing several different instruments and singing most of my life. I never picked up the guitar until a year ago. I'm not the traditional student who wants to learn rock 'n' roll, but am instead a lover of classical music. From day one, Adam worked with me to find out my skill level and taste in music. He challenged me to learn amazing pieces, played in finger style #I highly recommend#, and even taught me a few songs from the rock genre. Adam has a cool demeanor and makes learning guitar interesting and fun. What I learned from Adam in just a short time amazes me, and I know he can teach even the most challenging student.

Adam is charismatic, enthusiastic, super educated, and dedicated to teaching! He's a great professor overall and is always looking to find better ways to fit your learning style. I've had dozens of music instructors throughout my life and Adam is definitely one of the best!

Adam is an outstanding guitar instructor and makes learning lots of fun! He has a unique way of breaking down lessons to make playing enjoyable while understanding the fundamental concepts of musicianship. He rocks! (pun intended) :-)
Travis grew up in a musical family in Santa Cruz, CA. His father was a professional guitarist and his grandfather was the head of the music program at Cabrillo College in Aptos, so naturally he grew up with an instrument in his hand. After years of toying with the guitar Travis began formal lesson at the age of 9, quickly developing into an exceptional musician. By the age of 13 Travis was in several rock bands and performing frequently. Once in high school, Travis had no doubt that being a professional musician was what we wanted to do with his life so he started studying jazz and classic
al piano at a college level, studying with jazz trumpeter/arranger Ray Brown and classically trained pianist Ivan Rosenblum. Travis excelled and quickly began playing in the top Jazz Combo at Cabrillo College and in the top Big Band as well as playing professionally. In 2013 Travis received his BA in Music for Film from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and currently resides in Santa Cruz scoring commercials, television and film as well as producing albums and working on his own projects. Ever since Travis was 14 he has had an extreme passion to teach and pass on his musical knowledge. He started out teaching his friends and peers in high school for little or no money where he learned how to teach and gained valuable teaching experience. Eventually, he began teaching as a profession in the Santa Cruz area where he continued to hone the art of teaching.
*** Lesson Details *** Travis has been teaching for over 8 years and has acquired extensive knowledge on the most efficient and fun teaching methods. Travis' goal for each student is for them to have fun while learning the instrument, and to pass on his passion for the instrument. Curriculum is different for each student, as not all students learn in the same way or want to learn the same thing. Travis teaches most genres including: all areas of rock, jazz, blues, funk, metal and more. He will cover topics including technique, soloing, chords, theory, sight-reading, developing your ear as well as learning about the guitar and how to take care of it. He is a patient teacher and devotes himself to each student.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect my students to have a guitar and if they are playing an electric, they need an amp at home.
*** Specialties *** I excel at rock, jazz and blues guitar and have in depth knowledge of jazz theory and harmony.

Travis is amazing. He's been teaching my son for about 8 weeks and he's well exceeded my expectations. Travis is very patient and an excellent teacher. He keeps the class pace moving from music theory to playing songs and somehow manages to keep my rambunctious 10 year old fully engaged for an hour""no easy task. I highly recommend him!
I am a singer and performer, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from San Jose State University. I have been singing since I was 10 years old, beginning with musical theater and then training as an opera singer, and currently perform in operas, musicals, and as a concert soloist in the bay area. I love teaching all levels and all ages, and I will cater your private lesson to your current skill level. In lessons, we will work on breathing and vocal exercises, good posture and support, and the singing and performance of songs. Voice lessons will help you with confidenc
e, improve your range and posture, prepare you for auditions, solos, competitions, or even just for fun! Whether it is Broadway, classical, or folk singing, let me help you find your inner singer!
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are based on the classical technique of singing which focuses on breath support, and works for any style of singing you are interested in. In lessons we will begin with a few breathing exercises and then do some vocal exercises. After the warm-up portion of the lesson we will move on to repertoire. If there is a specific piece you want to work on with me I am happy to help you with it, and otherwise I will recommend a repertoire book for you to buy depending on the style you are interested in. Singing is a lot of fun, and I always want my students to have fun. I have a lot of energy, am very supportive, and will create an environment in which you can grow as a singer, performer, and musician. But remember, it will take some work and practice on your part to become a better musician. The voice is like any other muscle, and you must practice in order for it to grow stronger. With regular practice outside of lessons, you will see in a matter of months that your range will begin to expand, you will have better posture and breath support, better musicianship and an easier time learning new music, and even more confidence.
*** Specialties **
I am a trained opera and classical singer, with a background in musical theater, so I am comfortable teaching either style. If I am teaching classical, I can help with the diction and pronunciation of Italian, German, and French, as well as English I teach the basic singing technique involving breath control, and resonance, and posture, but I also like to balance that with stage presence and the performance of the music. I am also proficient in music theory and can teach or tutor music theory for high school or college students.
I love working with both children and adults. I am excellent with teaching musical theater to kids and teens, and getting them ready for auditions at their school or local theater companies. I teach all levels from beginning to advanced in voice. For piano, I only teach beginning and I specialize in teaching this level to children. I try to make it fun and incorporate basic music knowledge into the lessons.

Lori is the best. My daughter is a singer-songwriter who has never had much formal training. As she approached her junior year in high school she announced that she would like to go to college for music. We toured her top choices and found out she needed some very specific skills she had not yet developed. Exasperated by her rejection of the instructors I found I told her to find her own instructor and let me know when she had. She found Lori online and we gave her a trial run. Lori is very talented skilled and patient. My daughter's singing and music theory abilities have soared since she began working with Lori. She got into her top school choice. One of the best music schools in the world for what she wants to do. I know Lori was a big part of making that possible.

Musical training at its best
Lori is a marvelous teacher. She is skilled in her profession. With students she is patient and encouraging. I have made excellent headway as a singer in a short period of time.
I'm classically trained as a singer, and currently sing with L'harmonia, a quartet of soloists focusing on renaissance polyphony.
I have broad experience singing, playing piano, guitar, and drums, Korean instruments, and programming beats using computers. I'm well versed in classical, popular, and world styles. As well as teaching instrumental techniques, I teach music theory and analysis, and coach composition to budding songwriters and electronic music producers.
I have a doctorate in music composition from UCSC, and have written a lot of music for a wide variety of instrumental and
vocal forces. I studied traditional music in Korea for one year on a research grant from the Korea Foundation. I also write songs in a pop/rock style, and compose electronic music for TV ads. I enjoy having a creative musical mind, and find great delight in the musical creativity of my students.
I'm a computer programmer in Python, Matlab, C, and other languages, having done back-end programming for a music app "JamBandit." I've put out my own music app, "Key In" on Apple's app store, and will soon release a second, "Helixician."
Music is a great joy and pleasure in my life. It's very meaningful to me to help students gain skills and confidence so that they can realize their desire to be musical.

I appreciate John's patience and style in working with me on the Cello, given my issues with dexterity, range of motion and some memory deficits, as a result of a major stroke, of which I am thankful to have survived. It takes a special person with incredible patience like John, to be willing to take this journey with me, to a place where the healing power of music lives. I anticipate a great ride!

Great Vocal Coach - he has helped me live my dream of singing (on my bucket list for years)
John is so tal'ented, plays multiple instruments, he's artistic and laid back (So Santa Cruz) and he helps me with breathing, posture, finding the right key for me, being able to put the emphasis where it belongs and just be comfortable expressing my inner self with confidence. I LOVE HIM! He is helping me live my dream. He lives right down the street from the beach so I can park on the overlook and practice singing along with my favorite artist - Brian McKnight on the way home after lessons.

Great music teacher
John has been teaching my son (age 12) piano for the last eight months. We have been really impressed by how knowledgeable he is about a wide range of music and music theory and how patient and supportive he is with our son. John is great at working with kids where they are at and taking them to the next level. He's flexible in his approach and really tailors his teaching to the student. I would recommend John as a teacher to any level of student.
