About Albino

Albino was born in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. I recently began singing again after a year and was very unconfident in my voice and my ability to improve. Albino was the perfect instructor for someone like me because of his patience and positivity. He was able to point out issues with my singing technique or provide feedback in a very positive way, without seeming critical. Whenever I was confused about something, he would work with me non-stop until I understood. Albino inspires confidence in all his students, and I highly recommend him as a teacher!

"Showing the world there are more songs to play on the uke besides Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I'm Yours, & Riptide."

I have played ukulele for 9 years and spent 3 years in college singing & playing on State Street in Santa Barbara. My teaching style focuses on using tab notation. I think it allows players to be more creative in altering chords & progressions, instead of defaulting to basic ones like "G, D, Am, C."

I still start with basics (depending on experience level) but eventually I move on to unique chords, strumming/percussive patterns, & embellishments that turn the ukulele from a "toy" into a powerful instrument.

About Nico

UC Santa Barbara Grad. I am a singer that took on the ukulele 8 years ago. Over the past 3 years I have played throughout Santa Barbara performing local gigs & busking on State Street. Ukulele Lessons: I like to challenge the preconception that the ukulele is a "toy" and expose people to wh

Nico was recommended to me two months ago and I am very glad I reached out. I already feel more confident knowing what to listen out for when singing. He also taught me a couple songs on ukulele so I can accompany myself. Cool teacher & fun jam sessions!

Ukulele:
Sometimes abbreviated to uke, it is a member of the lute family of instruments; it generally employs four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings. Some strings may be paired in courses, giving the instrument a total of six or eight strings. The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese machete, a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, mainly from Madeira and the Azores. The tone and volume of the instrument vary with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. If you just want to play songs I'm happy to teach you the songs you love. I can also teach you to become a musician by teaching from the beginning with the very basics of finger placement, reading, notes, rhythms, songs, scales, theory and improvisation....or, we can do both!

Karen is an incredibly skillful teacher. She is very passionate about music and it easy to be comfortable with her. She shares her training and knowledge very clearly. The vocal exercises seem very unique and holistic for body and voice health. She is very encouraging, caring, and soul-uplifting. I feel like I have a new connection with my voice and all that is connected to using it... as an instrument and the journey is only just starting. 45 minutes went by so fast. I am looking forward to my next lessons.

I thought I wanted to take viola lessons. Then I read her website and I realized that she might be able to help me get my voice back! I thought there was no hope ever. She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!

It's time to play some Uku!
Ukulele is such an amazing instrument - it has beautiful sounds and it is very easy to learn. Come and play with me, and I guarantee you in the first class we shall be playing your favorite song!
My goal is to help you learn to play Ukulele with the correct posture and mechanics(strumming, finger picking), and know how to read the tabs(notes, rhythms) so that you could play songs on your own as long as you can find sheet music.
And I would love to see you improve and gain your independence - that is to not rely on me after some lessons and you can start playing Ukulele ON YOUR OWN! How exciting is that?
Oh, and I am a singing teacher too, so you are welcome to play Uku and sing with me in our class as well!
Come and enjoy Uku with me!

Fanjin is a super constructional and patient teacher while I take lesson online with her as a beginner to singing. She offers effective techniques, advices, and singing drills for me to improve significantly in a relatively short amount of time. She is also very flexible, and overall I enjoyed so much working with her!

He is very concise with his words and I really appreciate it as some teachers can talk your whole session away.
