While I am still a student myself learning at the college level, I have a lot to offer to beginner and intermediate players looking to better their technique, reading abilities, posture, tone, and or overall musical knowledge. I've been playing for almost 18 years now, and through my own studies, I've learned that it's important to have a teacher that truly believes in you and wants to see you succeed. I want to be that for younger students just starting out or trying to find their way in music.

About Josh

Hi, my name is Joshua L. I'm a 21-year-old cellist from Chicago, IL. I've been studying cello for almost 18 years! When I started, I was heavily into classical, but I loved all the artistic ideas that contemporary music had to offer, so I figured out a way to fuse my love for both into something I

I strive to treat each student equally no matter how advance the student are. My job as a teacher is to provide students a tool in life. Students will learn the way life works through the art of music. Should the students decide to pursue music or not in the future, I only hope that students will apply what they've learned in music to their everyday problem solving.

About Johnny

Johnny received his Bachelors of Music at the University of Alabama, under the tutelage of Carlton McCreery, and a Masters of Music at The Boston Conservatory with Andrew Mark. Johnny is experienced in teaching cello. His lessons are always passionate, musical, and informative. There are several aspects of his lessons that I'd like to share.

1. Full of Content: He delivers enough details of a new technique with simplification for an easy understanding.
2. Learning Curve: By breaking down and reorganizing the knowledge, he teaches new concepts step by step, from approachable actions to efficient actions.
3. Customization: He helps you find out a suitable solution to grow on the techniques based on your own physical and cognitive characteristics.
4. Experimentation: The correct ways he suggests you do is demonstrated by experimenting with different ways for comparison, which you would not only know what to do but know the reason behind it.

Cello is a beautiful yet complicated instrument. To enjoy it, a great mentorship is necessary and truly valued.

Cello:
A bowed or plucked string instrument with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. The strings from low to high are generally tuned to C2, G2, D3 and A3, an octave lower than the viola. It is a member of the violin family of musical instruments, which also includes the violin and viola and the double bass. The cello is used as a solo musical instrument, as well as in chamber music ensembles (e.g., string quartet), string orchestras, as a member of the string section of symphony orchestras, and some types of rock bands. It is the second-largest and second lowest (in pitch) bowed string instrument in the modern symphony orchestra, the double bass being the largest and having the lowest (deepest) pitch. My lessons always start out with the basics! We start out by learning notes by plucking the strings and then the bow is soon incorporated. The goal is to eventually learn all the notes on the fretboard and also learning how to read and play chords. As the student progresses ...

I thought I wanted to take viola lessons. Then I read her website and I realized that she might be able to help me get my voice back! I thought there was no hope ever. She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!

Cello is famous for its deep and warm sound, probably the widest range from low to high register. It is used for solo, chamber music, ensembles, chamber and symphony orchestras.
But the most important cello can change your mind and fulfill your soul like no other instruments !

I've been working with Nazar since 1998. Not only does he know his stuff and makes his teaching personal to your needs, but he also has a way to make you feel successful even when you are struggling. you always feel better about your playing when you leave than when you got to his studio. He recognizes your learning style and what you want to accomplish, then builds his teaching around that.

If you are looking for a cello teacher (and yes, he also teaches piano and other instruments) I'd say put your time and money into Nazar and you, you will feel it is one of your best investments

I've been playing guitar on and off (mostly off) for the past 15 years. I came to Daniel to learn music theory, improve my rhythm, and learn the skills I need to confidently show up to a jam session with other musicians. In just a few lessons, I've significantly improved in each of those areas at Daniel's instruction. He REALLY knows his stuff and quickly hones in on your strengths/weaknesses and has great advice for how to improve on your weaknesses.

If you are looking for a guy that can teach you the basics of how to play an instrument, or someone that can take you from just learning songs online to being able to create your own songs and jam with other musicians, Daniel is your guy.

I started taking fiddle lessons with Daniel having basically zero experience with the instrument, and in just a handful of weeks, I can't believe how much I've learned! Daniel really excels at tailoring his teaching to my individual needs, interests, and pace of learning. Each week I leave feeling challenged and motivated, but never frustrated. I'm having a great time, and always look forward to my next lesson.
Michelle B.
Daniel is so patient and easy to work with ~ he makes learning the cello seem so easy and natural and has so many practical ways of explaining an instrument I have no prior knowledge of. I had never played a stringed instrument but always loved the cello, so I was a bit nervous to begin. His gentle nature and patience have made me even more enthusiastic to learn. I have been loving each lesson and look forward to the next each time I leave! I'm looking forward to next week already! :-)

I've been teaching cello for 30 years and my students have gone on to play with different ensembles like symphony orchestras. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play simple songs by reading and by ear and as time goes on you'll be able to play more complex repertoire. I specialize in classical, style but I can teach you different kinds of styles, typically use Kummer method and Suzuki repertoire but I use a variety of method and books. I have the following tools available for your lessons: cello, computer program, sound system, Tuner and Metronome . I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I took lessons from Maria for 6 years, starting the summer just before I entered high school. Initially I was embarrassed because I knew most kids learning an instrument had started years before me, and I hadn't had any experience with reading sheet music or anything like that.

But she never held any preconceived notions about where my ability *should* be, which helped me feel comfortable learning the cello for fun, which was why I was taking lessons. And Maria was always patient working with me on whatever little part of a piece I struggled with week after week until I got it. She let me self direct how I wanted to learn, so I didn't spend as much time memorizing music theory and was able to learn through playing, which worked well for me.

While taking lessons through high school and part of college, I had a lot of difficult classes and sometimes had to sacrifice my short-term cello progress to make time for them. I always felt bad when this happened, but Maria understood and once the air cleared I was always excited to catch up to where I wanted to be.

Cello was always something kind of meditative where I could make something beautiful by putting in time, and I don't think I would enjoy playing now if I hadn't had the warm guidance of such a great teacher on my journey through the music world.

"Excellent, patient instructor. She didn't let my bad habits go unchallenged, giving me kind and consistent correction. The seemingly small corrections to form reduced fatigue and improved my playing. She was always great at communication. The best part for me was she did not insist I as an older adult learner practice from an elementary book. She suggested interesting pieces and studies that challenged me without overwhelming. Highly recommend Jessica for all age levels."

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
