About Kristin
Hello!

I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.

At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs.
I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.

I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and
my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.

I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students as well.

I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!

About Anastasia
After Anastasia’s Carnegie Hall Debut in 2006, the New York Concert Review wrote: "For a critic, hearing a new pianist with a truly warm, luscious tone is like breathing in the scent of jasmine blooming - a pleasure to be recalled again and again - and so I'm happy to report that from the first note she touched at her Weill Hall recital, Anastasia S. was a genuine pleasure to listen to. Every piece, every measure, every note - no matter how complex the texture, no matter how many strands of melody and accompaniment - was wrapped in a halo of golden tone..."

Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Anastasia S. gave her first solo recital at the age of eleven. Ms. S. is a graduate of the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, Germany, and holds a Master’s and a Doctorate degrees from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford.

In 2003 Anastasia received
First Prize in the 14th International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Rome, Italy, and was awarded a Special Prize. In year 2006 Ms. S. won the Puigcerda International Piano Competition in Spain. In the same year she recorded the complete works for piano and orchestra by Balakirev with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra for NAXOS records. In 2008 Ms. S. received the “Outstanding Award”, which granted her a return engagement to give a second solo recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In 2010 Anastasia was awarded a Special Prize for the best interpretation of French composition at the International Piano Competition “Parnassos” in Mexico. Her solo recital in 2008 at the Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago was broadcast live on WFMT Radio, in Internet, and on the TV-Station “Channel 25“; Anastasia was invited to play there again in 2011. Her career continues with numerous appearances as a soloist both in concertos with orchestra, in solo recitals, and in chamber music concerts in Ukraine, Germany, Macedonia, Italy, Switzerland, France, Russia, USA, and Japan. Anastasia’s recent engagements included a performance at the Bolshoi Hall of Moscow Conservatory as well as solo appearances with orchestras in the United States and Germany featuring concerti by Prokofieff, Mozart, Grieg, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Stravinsky. In 2014 her new CD "Music of Russian-Jewish composers for oboe and piano" was released. Currently, Anastasia is working on her two new solo CD's for Centaur Records.

In 2013, Anastasia was granted the Extraordinary Abilities in the Arts permanent US residence, as one of a small percentage of those who have risen to the top in their field of endeavor. Anastasia served as an Adjunct Faculty in Piano and Chamber Music at the Hartt School, and is currently on faculty of the New England Conservatory in Boston.

I offer scholarships for advanced level students upon request.

As an adult beginner, I chose Anastasia for more personalized instruction, especially in technique, after learning the basics through community center group lessons. I have not continued only because another equally well-qualified instructor who lives close by, within walking distance, has become available. I am very pleased with the lessons and pointers that I have received. Anastasia is professional, encouraging, and friendly. An especially helpful part of her instruction is the set of comments and suggestions that she writes down to guide practice between lessons. If the neighbor instructor does not work out, I’ll be back.

I'll break it down as much as you need. I am even happier to discuss more difficult musical topics.

About Beau
*** Lesson Details ***
I studied music performance at UMass Dartmouth. I have the tools and resources to teach the students what they need to know in order to teach themselves. In lessons, I focus on what the student wants to learn, however for younger students I tend to stick with the methods books for a while.
I am a big fan of applying relevant elements of music theory to the music we're learning: it helps to understand the science behind the music. Noticing patterns and understanding common terminology will make it easier to learn pieces and play with other musicians.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Kimball baby grand piano.
I can teach at my house in Attleboro as well as come to you.

*** Specialties ***
Music theory and classical piano. (Classical and pop)

Beau is patient and kind, and yet persistent and focused with my 8 year old daughter. She has major anxiety issues and is often both frightened by new people and hyper sensitive to correction. Beau navigates her through her fears and shares his love of the music. She has had half a dozen lessons now, and we fully intend to continue lessons with Beau.

Through music theory, one is able to understand the basis of music. Lessons will cover a variety of topics, from chords and scales to counterpoint and part-writing. Material will be drawn from different textbooks (such as Laitz's "Complete Musician" and Schachter's "Harmony and Counterpoint") and students will analyze musical examples from all genres. Your understanding of music will develop and advance after studying music theory!

About Mona
I'm an active flutist and Japanese enthusiast living in Boston! I recently graduated from the University of Washington with a flute performance degree and Japanese minor and am now pursuing graduate studies at the New England Conservatory. I believe that learning music should be fun and inspiring, but that 95% of artistry is simply hard work! I, therefore, create a positive and encouraging environment for all of my students, while still setting challenging goals. Additionally, I tailor my teaching to fit each student’s needs so that learning potential can be maximized. Stylistic choices in musical expression/phrasing are encouraged through the incorporation of music theory, music history, and ear training skills into lessons. I also believe that body awareness is important, and will include stretches and practice methods into each lesson,
so students can practice efficiently and prevent injuries!

I grew up speaking both Japanese and English and welcome beginning Japanese students!

We were thrilled with Josh! Our son really enjoyed his lessons and improved significantly working with him for the last year. Josh is a motivational teacher - our son WANTED to practice each day and that is because of Josh's inspiration and modeling what it takes to be a great drummer. Our son gained both the confidence and ability to audition for an make it into 3 high school bands this year. He couldn't have done it without Josh. He's a terrific percussion teacher and a great guy!

I am a friendly, welcoming teacher that has worked with students of all ages! I am finishing up my Master's degree in music education in Boston while continuing my role as a performer and teacher. I am proficient on piano, violin, and voice, have an affinity for music theory, and have been teaching in these areas of study for over 6 years now. Whether you want to learn how to play contemporary or classical, I'm happy to pass my knowledge on! Feel free to send me a message to see if we'll make a good team.

About Aubrey
I am a professional singer, pianist, and violinist, and also a public school teacher. I specialize in classical music, and have worked with many choirs and instrumental ensembles over the course of my career. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Music Education (Voice) at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, and completed my piano studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music. I also earned my Master's degree in Music Education at the Boston Conservatory. Currently, I am on staff at MJ's Music School in Waltham.

I began my music studies at the age of 7, and a lot of my current teaching philosophy has been greatly influenced by my own educational experiences as a child. I believe that students are never too young for a technical and accurate approach. At the same time, music lessons don't have to be scary or daunting. I find that many
teachers tend to underestimate their students, so I make a great effort to encourage my students to go further than even they think they can.

My piano, violin, and voice students have been of diverse ages and experience levels. Depending on the goals of the student, we can work out a personalized curriculum that is beneficial and efficient. Students can expect to improve in music literacy, sight-reading, ear training, knowledge of different musical styles, chord building and reading, and holistic musicianship.

Feel free to send me a message! I would love to talk about your musical journey and how I can help you progress.
