I have been teaching professionally for the past six years. As a student who struggled myself in nearly every aspect of education, I understand the importance of individualized learning. As a teacher and performer, I look to find relationships between the emotional and intellectual facets of music. By doing this, I try to uncover the mystery of violin playing, allowing my students to gain an understanding that will last with them forever.

Every single student posseses the potential to fulfill his or her violinistic dreams. I cater my teaching around the goals of each student, while still instilling a high artistic integrity.

Though I center each lesson around building a superior technical foundation, duet playing, the theory of harmony, and aural skills are integral parts of my teaching. I strive for my students to develope a beautiful, in-tune, pure sound that can directly connect to their own emotional palette.

About Thomas

Hailed as "delightfully spirited, [with a] rich tone" (Cleveland Classical) violinist Thomas Cooper has appeared as a soloist with several American orchestras, including the Colorado College Festival Orchestra, the Coeur D'Alene Symphony Orchestra, the Credo Baroque Orchestra, the Dubois Orchestra

I've taught people who were just beginning violin (both children and adults) to students who were working on major concertos. What is most important to me as a teacher is building a strong foundation from which it is possible to branch out and connect emotionally with the music they play. I also strive to make performers out of violinists and to help them engage both audiences and themselves.

About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 20 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, per

I was exited to start my first lesson and it was great! Ha-eun welcomed me warmly and I think learning with her will be successfull and wonderful at the same time. Looking forward to my next lesson!

Ha-eun is a great violin teacher. I'm an adult learner that picked up the violin to try something different. I've played saxophone for 15 years, and have gone through many types of teachers. I can say Ha-eun is one of the best. She's experienced and patient. We started lessons in person and moved to online because of COVID19, and still going strong through the Suzuki book. She would be great to teach young or old alike!

Her help with bow hold, relaxation with the right hand and arm, will help me enjoy playing.

Philip is an excellent teacher and gave me very heloful pointers on my technique. I am an advanced player and have performed semi-professionally several times but hadn't learned proper technique in the past.

I plan to continue with him regularly to improve my technique and skill level.

Philip was so friendly and patient, and made my 7 year old very comfortable with her first lesson. He really knew how to speak on her level and his instruction was very positive and motivating. My daughter left the lesson very excited to start practicing what he showed her, and we can't wait till the next lesson!

Very helpful person to work with, understanding of my student's transportation difficulties and great about rescheduling. The girl likes him and is learning.

I am very passionate about disclosing all emotion and really digging into the heart of music, which is why lessons with me won't just be lesson on the HOW of learning to play an instrument, but on the WHY. Once you learn how, why is it important to play in that manner, what benefits are there to a certain bow hold, etc. These are just some short examples of the kind of mindset I encourage with my teaching. Learning an instrument is more than just moving some fingers and a joint or two. It's about focus, becoming self-aware and also becoming your own teacher in the process. What you get out of it, is what you put in. You decide.

About Ana

Hey! My name is Ana Done, and I'll be your teacher (if you so wish). I know what you're thinking: will this be another boring lesson on just scales and stuff? Can I learn some fun music? "Tania has been a great teacher for my son. He started learning violin with the Suzuki method and studied with a Suzuki teacher for about four years before stopping lessons. He became interested in violin again in middle school and decided he wanted to take private lessons while in 7th grade. Tania had no trouble getting him back on track, picking up with some Book 2 pieces and moving on to Book 3. She has helped him with his bowing, vibrato and shifting, and his sound has really improved. She also has helped him learn to read better and has introduced some basic music theory into lessons. My son really likes his lessons, and feels that he is learning what he needs. Overall, I like her approach, which I think works very well for this level. She is an excellent musician, and this comes through in her teaching."

"Mr. Mark is an amazing teacher who is very accommodating and so relaxed when he teaches that won't make a student be intimidated at all. I can see that my daughter is very comfortable with him during the lessons especially with sharing some ideas and thoughts for her improvement in playing her violin. After just a few sessions, my daughter already told me that she became more confident in playing with the orchestra in school. She said that Mr. Mark knows what he is talking about. 😊👍"

How to Play the Violin Like Lindsey Stirling

The inimitable Lindsey Stirling has shaken the world’s concept of classical music. Almost all of your knowledge about playing the violin starts with learning how to play scales, from reading sheet music to better understanding the fingerings. Of course, it is not nearly as exciting as playing one of the songs you love, but practicing scales will give you a strong foundation that will help you progress and improve. Violin scales are typ …
