Elias has been my piano teacher for 5 months and a half. He's very kind, patient, methodical and detail oriented. With his continuous help, I went from zero to playing minuets by Bach and Mozart with ease. I also learned to play scales, arpeggios, progressions and a lot of music theories along the way. In my opinion, what sets him apart is not only does he teaches you how to play, but also teaches you how to phrase music with lines, contrasts, crescendos and decrescendos, making "real" music. I really cannot thank him enough for my progress, and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to play great music!

Mr. Anderson has been a great influence on my life. As a cello teacher, Mr. Anderson has a wealth of knowledge ranging from the making of the cello to the history of composers to just random facts. Mr. Anderson has been my teacher from the 6th grade to my senior year. During those 6 years, he helped me grow into a great cello player that as a senior, I was able to play a solo with my school orchestra as a senior capstone. He, also, understood, that during this time, not only is his job to teach me cello but also to help and guide me into a better person. I have had many great and amazing teachers in high school and college and Mr. Anderson is among the best. I will never forget those 6 years and will fondly look back at these formative years.

Dwight Anderson was a fabulous cello teacher for my son from preschool through high school. He was, in fact, the best music teacher we ever had for either of my children - through all of their piano, violin and cello instruction. He was consistent and nurturing, able to push the boundaries of expectation, and able to inspire. Although he only taught my son, he influenced my daughter as well by encouraging them to both participate in the GDYO. He was masterful in choosing certain pieces of work that inspired my son to practice and to perform. Even though he certainly assigned scales and etudes, he always allowed him at least one piece of his choosing that gave him such a sense of accomplishment. For example, my son learned to play the prelude of the Bach suite in G even before he started the 1st grade. That is still his favorite piece! And, starting around 7th or 8th grade, he let his pick which "big work" they would tackle for the following year. We went through the Lalo cello concerto, Faure's Elegie, the Saint-Saens concerto, Popper's Hungarian Rhapsody, Dvorak's Rondo, and finally, "The Dvorak", for his senior project in high school. Even though my son didn't always learn all the movements of the concerto or learn it to perfection, Dwight's partnership with my son in picking these pieces gave him such a love of playing the cello! What a wonder and a gift!
In the years since high school, Dwight has kept up with my son, even though he chose a non-music career path and a life in the north east. We will be forever grateful for Dwight and the influence he has had on my son in particular, and, for his influence on the whole family for deepening our appreciation of beautiful music. Thank you, Dwight!
