I provide classical instruction in portraiture, still life and landscape in your studio or mine. In this traditional approach to drawing and painting, what will be taught and focused upon are perspective, value and composition in order for the student to develop strong visual language skills. The program of study begins with a specific focus on drawing, since drawing is the foundation upon which all great traditional art is built. Throughout this training, emphasis will be placed on accuracy, or more specifically, seeing and rendering correctly such things as line quality, hard and soft edges, proportion, positive and negative space through abstract form and the use of the full range of values.

About Jeff

I'm a graduate of Dean College in Franklin, MA and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where I majored in art history and studio art with a focus on portrait painting and illustration. I continued further study at the Andeeva Portrait Academy in Sante Fe New Mexico, the Los Angeles Acad

Photography has been a lifelong passion for me. As my journey continues, I enjoy working with students and clients on making great images and helping them to achieve their artistic vision. I love to share the tips and tricks that I have learned along the way as both a professional photographer, but also as a teacher and as a student of light.

Experienced photographer that has worked professionally in many areas including travel, fine-art, news, and sports action. I have extensive darkroom experience in both B&W and color and have transitioned those skills to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop in the digital post-processing world. Many of my images have been printed in various publications, on many websites, and in art gallery exhibits. I teach beginner to advanced students on how to take and process great images in private tutor sessions, group lessons, and on workshop field trips. I also custom print images, and scan and retouch/restore old photographs and negatives.

About Nick

My name is Nick and I am a freelance photographer located in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts. I am new to the TakeLessons platform but have many years of experience as a photographer and photography teacher. I specialize in travel, fine art and sports action photography. I am a life-long photographe

Gesture, Expression and Experiment are my tools. I combination with an education in materials and the willingness to keep playing we end up confidently creating image. It is impossible to get anything done in an hour so try to find a way to book a longer time. Materials are somewhat included as I always have things but do contribute with art supplies, paper, found things. It's not necessary to spend a lot of money at the art supply store, just keep your eyes open at garage sales, etc and your store of materials will accumulate.

This was my first lesson with this website. I really enjoyed Jane's laid back style and friendly going personality. She was easy to connect with and talk to. Extremely helpful. I like how she focused on exactly what I was asking for help with and didn't waste my time with unnecessary help.

"I have always loved to draw as a hobby, but could never get the hang of it. I found Jessica on Craigslist and she taught me how to hold a pencil properly to create the depth to my drawings I've always dreamed about! I highly recommend Jessica and can't wait till my next lesson with her! Thanks again!"

"Though I haven't done this 1:1, I have taken a group class with Eli and he's an excellent teacher. Lessons are well planned and yet also have spontaneity. He articulates the lesson of the day well, gives rich assignments, and then comments on your work in a supportive way that gives you a lot to continue to work on."

"Kai is a masterful painting instructor who is immensely skilled with his craft. His philosophy in painting is very inspiring, and has long stayed with me in my career as an artist. Unlike professors in art colleges, Kai gives informative demos, and in all honesty has taught me more technical skills than my art college (and most other art colleges) did alone. I would definitely recommend Kai to any artist/painter (both new and experienced) out there, he’s both professional and approachable as an instructor."

"I am so thankful I found Jon via takelessons for photography lessons. He is an amazing, encouraging and a patient teacher. Before the class, we discussed my goals and Jon came up with a lesson plan to help me meet those goals in 3 days of classes. I have learnt so much during our classes so far - the impact of light on photographs, the importance of talking with the subjects/models and the benefits of patience and being a keen observer. Jon is ever so helpful and is always suggesting ways to help me improve my photography skills. Thank you Jon!!!"

Photoshop vs. Lightroom for Editing Time-Lapse Photography

Once you've done your time-lapse photography, how should you edit it all together? Here, Pasadena, CA teacher Nathan H. shares his recommendations, plus the pros and cons of using Photoshop and Lightroom...   So you just finished your amazing time-lapse of the sky. You’ve composed your shot. You’ve made sure nothing went wrong. You’ve waited an hour for your camera to take 600 images. It was a long, painful process.
