Not only is he amazing with the instrument, he’s also great at explaining new concepts, breaking things down into small, digestible pieces and encouraging students to explore their own musical interests. Great teacher! We were so happy to have found Alex.
Leander
Alex is a terrific instructor, who adjusts lessons based on what the student wants to accomplish. For example, my goals include learning the instruments (baritone uke in octave mandolin tuning and concert uke in mandolin tuning), fingerpicking, playing both melody lines and chords, being able to determine what chords to use without sheet music. So we work on music theory and ear training a lot, as well as learning tunes. Very good instructor who is both flexible and knowledgeable...highly recommend him to others.

I often incorporate beginner guitar, piano, music theory, and ear training into my voice lessons. Many of my voice and songwriting students aim to learn how to accompany themselves, and a basic understanding of chords helps tremendously with pitch and being able to sing in tune.

Hi! I have been playing guitar for over 40 years. I was introduced to guitar by my older brother. He taught me Johnny B. Goode & we would jam for hours. I took some music classes at college but was a business major. Colleges only offered classical guitar & I was not interested in that. I have since studied six years with SF Conservatory graduate & classical guitarist Tim Lawler. Tim helped me learn to read music & develop my teaching skills. Thanks Tim!
I have been teaching for over 25 years, making a living at it for most of that time. I teach group & private lessons. Most of my students are beginners. Many start out as kids & stay until they go to college. I have a lot of teen & adult students also, with many diverse interests from classical, jazz, rock, funk, blues, alt, pop, rap, punk, metal, folk, country, game music, Americana, reggae, bluegrass. I also have those interests. Students are studying with me; we are both learning. I enjoy it as much as they do. I ...

"I have been seeing Jeff for about 3 years. I was an old folkie - with no time to practice - for about 50 years, but finally my wife bought me some lessons when I retired. Hit it off with Jeff immediately. He really knows the music I want - which in my case is classic rock - but he can do pretty much anything you need. Still give him 5 stars!"

"As a young female, I was apprehensive about choosing a male teacher that teaches in his home. However, Paul has been professional and I have not had any concerns since meeting him and working with him. He is a well-planned, experienced teacher who artfully progresses students from week to week in a manner that is constructive and fun. In only 5 weeks I have learned more about playing guitar and guitar theory than I would have thought. He has been attentive to my goals and it is precisely the experience that I pay for."

"Really appreciate the level of professionalism and skill Kevin brings to lessons for my daughter who is 11. She is challenged to learn and enjoys the lessons. Kevin provides a worksheet of things to work on over the week so my daughter always knows what to do during her practice sessions. We have mostly done private 45 minute lessons, but Kevin has the flexibility to offer semi-private lessons as well, and my daughter has also enjoyed taking lessons with a friend!"
