I have many years of both teaching advanced music composition and songwriting as well as years of professional experience as a composer and producer. We will cover all aspects of composition and songwriting for any genre including analysis, harmonic/chord structures and progressions, approaches to melody, counter melody and counterpoint and how to apply these to various styles of music and composition, including arranging and orchestration from rock and pop to jazz and full orchestrations.

I will guide you creating a song during each week's lesson in a fun, engaging process!

I've been writing songs for over 20 years. I’ve studied with Jai Josefs and taking many songwriting courses. One of my songs one best new song from The West Coast Songwriters Association.

I’ve also been playing guitar for 40 years, teaching for over 15 years. I understand music theory and how to incorporate it into songwriting.

My lessons tailored to the student. We’ll create a Lesson plan with goals and a have live performance opportunity quarterly.

I am an internationally-produced, award-winning musical theatre composer and lyricist, and I'd love to help you learn how to craft a stylish song in the tradition of the 20th Century masters, and how to tell a story and develop characters through songs. I love working with students to deconstruct songs you love and figure out their structural tricks, both lyrically and musically, and can help you to figure out how to apply those structures in your own work. Can also work with you on music theory, notation and computer technology for getting your music written down.
