About Eli

Hi future students! I’m Eli. I know how tough it is to teach yourself an instrument, because I struggled with it for years and years. One of my biggest issues was learning how to practice, so if that’s something you struggle with, I can certainly help you develop a routine to which you would follow

After his first session, my son (10 years old) said Eli was, "really nice." They reviewed a lot, Eli asked a lot of questions about previous experiences and and listened to him play. Sounds like it was a packed session but not overwhelming.

Danilo is a really great drum teacher. Challenging, but also meets you at what ever level you're at. When limbs don't know how to rally together for a new thing, he's a very good cheerleader until it comes together or helps make it make sense to break through that wall. Enjoys good music too. Super recommend.

Great teacher. Fills me with confidence. Also it is awesome and inspiring to hear him play.

Danilo is great! He adjusts each weeks lesson to adapt to my needs. Patient, easy going, and very knowledgeable about what I need to work on and giving me exercises to work on between lessons. Highly recommend!

I have been playing piano for 17 years. I started in college as part of my keyboard and music theory training. While teaching, I try to incorporate sight reading, music theory, and overall proficiency.

About Joe

I absolutely love teaching music! After over 20 years of teaching, performing, writing, and recording in all styles/genres, it continues to be a great adventure. It is a joy to pass this on to others...especially seeing my students that never touched the instrument going on to be very proficient

My student centered approach is inspired by engaging with a healthy technique (e.g. natural body movements of the hand, arm, and foot), musicianship (e..g. music vocabulary), and music theory (e.g. note naming, rhythm through chord identification etc..) Students will be able to explore repertoire ranging from European classical to American contemporary repertoire (e.g. jazz, gospel, pop etc...) Musical activities will enhance the lesson in our pursuit of developing your musical reading, piano technique, and personal voice!

About Leonard

Hi! I'm Leonard Hayes, I love the piano and I'd like the opportunity to share that love with you! Currently, I'm based in Los Angeles pursuing doctoral studies at the USC Flora L. Thornton School of Music. I hold performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music (M.M) and Lawrence University

Mr. Hayes has been my favorite piano teacher so far (and he was my 7th piano teacher!). He taught me to really understand classical piano music and helped me to find my own voice and expression. Under his tutelage was when I really began to understand the depth and detail and most importantly how to really bring life and personality to even the simplest of music. My technique also improved vastly as Mr. Hayes is very detailed and disciplined when it came to breaking bad habits and using as much of your body to enhance and take control over your playing. Being Mr. Hayes’ student was life changing and a huge turnaround in my piano career, so I unequivocally absolutely positively recommend him to be your teacher.
Cassandra
Leonard Hayes is hands down the best teacher I have ever met. I have had trouble playing without pain for the 4 years that I have been trying to learn the piano, and Leonard is the only teacher that has helped me learn healthy techniques for playing expressively on the piano. In addition, he is kind, patient, and understanding, no matter what. I heartily recommend him for any level of student, whether you’re an expert or an eternal beginner like me.
Jasmine
Leonard Hayes is a world class instructor and performer! His understanding of piano pedagogy is superb and produces fantastic results. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing his work first hand, He trains all levels of performers and has a load of patience ! Most importantly, he encourages a love for piano, the art, skill, and history. He’s your best choice in piano teachers, trust me!

"My two girls started taking piano lessons in Kindergarten and were very excited to learn. That enthusiasm didn't last long when teacher after teacher showed irritation and a lack of patience with young learners. We went through SIX teachers and were asked by friends why we continued our search for the RIGHT teacher. I knew the girls wanted to play and the problem wasn't that they were children, the problem was finding that teacher who had great patience, an even temper, and one who could move students through those periods of tough times. We found THAT teacher in Ms. Patty!!!!! We have been with her now for two years. The girls are practicing now for their fourth recital and absolutely love playing. They have learned so much more than piano. They have learned patience by example...... Ms. Patty is the best ever!!!!!! <3"

"Laura's been absolutely great with our children (now 10 and 11). She tailors her teaching style to each one, interacting with them at their level, engaging them, and pushing their music forward -- both their practical skills and their understanding of music itself -- in a manner that seems fun and personal. One of my children just asked what I was doing, and when told and asked if he had anything to say about Laura he replied:
"She is very nice and she is funny and she is a very good teacher""

6 Piano Songs to Help You Learn Major and Minor Scales

Need to work on your major or minor scales? Piano songs abound by both classical and contemporary pianists that can help you improve your skills. Here, St. Augustine, FL Heather L. shares her recommendations.    Even as a piano teacher, I can be sympathetic to students who find themselves practicing major and minor scales over and over without any variation. Scales are often cited as the least favorite part of taking piano lessons. Sometimes, well, a lot of the time, the best way t …
