We will work from the bottom up, starting with proper breathing and warm up exercises.
Scale work and technical drills are made fun through games and other means to keep things interesting :)
Repertoire work will be chosen according to experience level after basic assessment, we can work together to find something you enjoy playing.
Basic theory and music history will be addressed naturally as we work through new pieces!

I am more than happy to work on any other music you are currently playing for school or other ensembles.

Both my daughters (ages 6 and 8) are taking piano lessons with Kristin. She is a great teacher: patient, encouraging, listens to the kids, and makes sure they enjoy the lessons. We hope to have lessons with her for the long run and highly recommend her for a positive music experience.

Kristin was such a wonderful teacher for our young daughter, Margaret! We had to move out-of-state and are struggling to find someone who can fill Kristin's shoes!

I love sharing my passion for music through teaching. To me, music should be a conduit of self-expression—it is not merely something we do, but rather who we are. While there are many great players who have perfected the technical elements of their craft, it is the greatest musicians who find a way to speak through their art. I strongly believe that we all have the potential to speak through our music, and that the right teacher can inspire that in a student. I hope I can be that teacher for you.

I work with students on both the craft and creative side of music in an enthusiastic and nurturing environment. This approach is aimed at awakening a student's drive to explore their own musical path both inside and outside the lesson. Within a lesson, we will work on (1) instrumental technique and basic music theory, very important aspects to us as players, and (2) improvisation/composition and having creative musical discussions, which are invaluable to us as creatives. From my experience,

I've been teaching guitar, acoustic and electric, for fifteen years. The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I like to begin by letting the student lead.

I believe anyone can play guitar. In most situations, we can learn the basics of playing some of your favorite songs in under a month. In the first few lessons we will learn open position chords and the basics of strumming and picking in 4/4 and 3/4 time. After you've memorized half a dozen or so songs this way, we can attempt barre chords and lead guitar playing.

I searched for an excellent upright bass teacher for a good while. Then I found David Lloyd. David is patient, humorous, friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. He carefully taught me all the necessary groundwork to enable me to continue on my own for a while. In a few months I will, without question, continue my studies with David. I would, without hesitation, recommend David to anyone interested in seriously studying the Upright Bass.

Rick an extraordinary teacher. There is a difficult balance to strike between creating a positive, inviting space for collaboration, and holding a high artistic standard that drives you to improve. Rick is great at both. He immediately invested a lot of time in learning more about who I am, what I want to accomplish, and crafting a vision of the best way to support me in getting there.

I intend to work with Rick for a long time and I'm excited, motivated, and inspired by where I think that the work can take us.

More than just hip hop and rap instruction. My lessons with Rick quickly turned to one of the best mentorships I have had. Gained lots of very pertinent knowledge in music and culture as well as self help, mental health and overall dedication to craft. 10/10
Blake Mischley
My experience with Rick was great, and honestly, life-changing. He pushes you out of your comfort zone and creates a perfect environment for growing musically and as a person. With his help, I wrote 10+ songs that I still think of to this day. The small exercises he made me do really gets you in the "creative zone". The confidence in myself to be able to perform, creativity, and work habit that I either learned or improved through the lessons have translated to my actual life. Above all, he's a super chill and caring guy. He wants you to succeed in and out of the studio. Whatever your goals are musically or personally, Rick will help you and be for you.

She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!"

"Cindy is no doubt the ONE when it comes to piano and voice lessons. I have had piano and vocal lessons with other previous instructors in the past, but often felt discouraged, misunderstood and frustrated. However, Cindy literally brought my passion for piano and singing back to life! She's extremely knowledgeable and passionate in her expertise, and she's FUN! I look forward to each and every lesson. I have been taking lessons with Cindy for almost a year now, it's the best decision I have made, and looking forward to many more. I've seen the improvement in both my piano and singing techniques, and learned so much.
