Book NowMy personal pedagogy is a combination of the basic technical and theoretical aspects of the instrument and what music the student is interested. It is paramount that students of all levels are learning their instrument through performing their favorite music. All necessary technical exercises can be adapted to a specific genre of music. I have many resources and a vast library of literature available for my lessons that I have compiled through my years at Berklee studying with the world's greatest bassists and theorists.
My main goal in every lesson is to be as time efficient as possible. We start with introducing new warm up exercises or new approaches to playing the instrument with confidence and facility. This is important for students of all levels so we can learn the correct ways to execute our favorite music in the most efficient way possible. From there I always spend the most time on the student's goals, like learning a new song or perhaps theory and improvisation. My ...

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. After assessing the strengths and needs of each client, the qualified music therapist provides the indicated treatment including creating, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, clients' abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. Music therapy also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words. ***I am a freelance musician/percussionist in the NYC area but I am currently teaching online lessons from my Texas home in the midst of the pandemic.***
Being from Texas, music education became a huge part of my life from the moment I picked up a pair of sticks in 2001. I received two performance degrees from very prestigious music/percussion programs (Florida State and Eastman School of Music) and I have been private teaching since 2013. Lessons with me could set you up for either great success and/or to simply have a very good time learning something new. Whatever goals you have, I will do my very best to fulfill them. I have training on the following instruments: marimba, xylophone, vibes, bells, snare drum, timpani, drum set, auxiliary instruments (tambourine, triangle, cymbals, tom-toms, etc) and a few hand drums. I currently have access to a drum set, marimba and drum pad/snare drum.

We have been with Raymond for over a year now and love him! Started out with my 4 year old son wanting to learn guitar. Every instructor we went to said he was too young. Mr. Raymond took the time to interview him and took him on as a student. My son goes to his lesson once a week and still is keeping interest and has fun playing guitar. Now 5, he has far surpassed my lack of skills. I am thinking about starting classes so I can keep up with him. Now my 7 year old daughter has started piano lessons with him right after my sons lesson and she loves it as well. Thank you for all the patience! When Mr. Raymond gets to playing that Spanish Guitar....its music to my ears!"

Playing some familiar tunes is one of the first things you may pursue when learning a new instrument. You might start the violin thinking it will be years before you can play the music you want, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that many familiar favorites are available as easy violin music. Simplified sheet music makes it easier than ever to move from bland scales and exercises to pieces you actually recognize. Add these pieces to your repertoire early on and you’ll return to th …
