A Chinese native. Ali began studying violin at age 4 with her uncle, well-known teacher Dayu Su. She majored in violin performance as a student of Xiaowei Chen at the prestigious Renmin University in Beijing, graduating at the top of her class. She then completed a Masters Degree with Bayla Keyes at Boston University (where she won the Bach Prize) and completed Suzuki Training at the Hartt School of Music at Hartford University, CT.

After apprenticing with her uncle, Ali went on to teach at elementary and middle schools in Beijing, where several of her students won first prizes in violin competitions. She is group violin teacher for the Chelsea Public Schools, and also teaches private lessons at the Ip Piano School in Boston

As a performer, Ali has played with the orchestras of the National Ballet of China and the National Grand Theater on Beijing; and in the US with the Cleveland Orchestra at the Blossom International Festival.

My personal pedagogy is a combination of the basic technical and theoretical aspects of the instrument and what music the student is interested. It is paramount that students of all levels are learning their instrument through performing their favorite music. All necessary technical exercises can be adapted to a specific genre of music. I have many resources and a vast library of literature available for my lessons that I have compiled through my years at Berklee studying with the world's greatest bassists and theorists.

My main goal in every lesson is to be as time efficient as possible. We start with introducing new warm up exercises or new approaches to playing the instrument with confidence and facility. This is important for students of all levels so we can learn the correct ways to execute our favorite music in the most efficient way possible. From there I always spend the most time on the student's goals, like learning a new song or perhaps theory and improvisation. My ...

I firmly believe that anyone can learn to sing beautifully. This is possible without a five-octave vocal range. Using the music that you love, I can teach you to sing the way you feel.

A former student of renowned voice teacher Taras V. Leschishin (of the Cleveland Opera Company, Boston Pops, and the Handel and Haydn Society), I can lead you to the threshold of your own mind.

About Patrick

As a singer, bassist, pianist, and composer, my approach to music education is unlike anyone else's. I have performed at the Hard Rock Cafe and recorded with a wide variety of artists. A natural leader and a lifelong scholar, there is nothing more important to me than bold action, the relentless pu

I take a holistic approach to teaching voice. When you sing, your entire body is your instrument, which means that you have to be attuned to your whole body to produce the healthiest, most organic sound. I've been teaching for 13 years, and in that time I've leaned lots of different methodologies. I use a combination of knowledge from my classical training in conjunction with yoga, mindfulness and real world experience to give my students the best path forward in their musical journey. Whether you're just starting out or already a working professional, with my guidance and teaching you'll be making healthier and freer sounds.

About Gitana

Hi, my name is Gitana! I earned my degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Voice from Midwestern State University in 2011. I was first trained in classical music and prepared for a career in opera. But as life tends to do, things changed and I've been working in musical theatre for the las

Only our first lesson, but my sometimes shy, sometimes easily frustrated 8 yo daughter responded very well to Chris and gave the lesson literally 2 thumbs up. Looking forward to see her learn how to play!

"Josh is an excellent teacher who focuses on developing ALL of a musician's skills. This is not simply a rote progression through the Suzuki books, but he includes ear training, improvisation, sight reading, as well as making sure the lessons particular pieces are supposed to teach are actually being taught. He does all of this in a relaxed manner designed to set the student at ease. He is also available to talk outside the studio if you have questions about anything, including how to change your strings. The only reason I am not taking lessons with Josh anymore is I am leaving the state for work. I can't recommend him highly enough."

"My daughter has taken voice lessons with a previous teacher before (not from Take Lessons). Everything with Athena is completely different, however my daughter's singing has developed greatly. My daughters is already projecting more and she has become able to sing loudly and clearly. I am very pleased with my daughters lessons and I would highly recommend Athena to others!"

"I enrolled my 8 year old grand daughter and 10 year old grandson for piano and singing during their family visit with us, which lasted two weeks. Each of them had eight lessons in total and for that span of time they have learned how to read notes and count patiently. They also learned to play other instruments such as maracas, chimes, etc. It was so nice of Ms Melody to be able to conduct a studio mini recital just for the two of them. It is really amazing how my grandkids has learned so much from her. When I found out she is moving, I knew it will be hard to find somebody like her who is not just a very good teacher, but you can tell that she loves the kids and teaching comes very easy for her. Thank you Ms Melody for your good heart. As other reviewer said she will be missed, surely she will. I remember my grand daughter’s exact words when we left after their last lesson, ”Ms Melody is really very nice grandma. I like her so much!”"
