The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***

Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec

Architectural history, building technology, and green architecture are a few of the topics that I have previously written about. Hannah was the music director at the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church in Carlisle, Iowa for the past three years, and was a wonderful addition to our congregation! I serve as the pastor of that church, and was always impressed with Hannah's ability to help not only plan the music for worship - this include weekly hymn selections - but also her incredible singing voice and vocal range. She will be missed dearly, and I do not hesitate in the least to recommend her expertise and skills in teaching.

I strive to help all students perform at their highest level and obtain professional opportunities!

Dance students can expe
ct to learn technique styles and combinations in accordance with the style of dance we are learning. Students will experience various forms of dance, warm ups and physical conditioning. As a credentialed English teacher and published author, I will teach you or your child how to write in clear and cogent prose and appreciate the writing process. My writing experience includes academic writing, fiction, and creative nonfiction.

About David
Hello! My name is David and helping students succeed in school is my passion.

My tutoring career began in 2011 when I volunteered for Reading Partners, a non-profit organization that assists elementary school students who are struggling with reading comprehension skills. I later applied as a writing tutor for CSU East Bay's Student Center for Academic Achievement (SCAA) and helped college students from many social and ethnic backgrounds polish their essay writing skills. After graduating with a bachelor's in English in 2012, I became an independent contractor with Buddy System Tutoring and helped high school students in the Bay Area improve their writing and study skills.

I earned my teaching credential in 2015 and have four years of experience teaching English to middle and high school students. I have had the pleasure of working w
ith students of different backgrounds and ages throughout my teaching career; my youngest student was a third grader from Oakland, and my oldest was a 65-year-old college student from Taiwan. I would be thrilled to use my extensive experience to help you or your child improve their reading and writing skills.

I have also had experience teaching at the same school where he taught high school English, and in my experience, David would make a thoughtful and personable instructor. He has a relatable sense of humor and clear way of explaining concepts. I would recommend him as a tutor or writing coach for any middle or high school student.
