I have a personal approach to each student. I believe that everyone is different so the job of the instructor is to figure out what works for a particular student and how to present it best for faster, better understanding. I also believe that a good teacher is one that not only teaches the violin but plays it actively, professionally.

Singing is one of the most wonderful gifts we've been given and I believe that we should all have the opportunity to express ourselves through music! I've been teaching for 5 years and am well-versed in a variety of styles. I have performed in operas, musicals, and contemporary performing groups, and feel comfortable teaching in all of the above-listed genres. I began singing and taking lessons as a child and am comfortable teaching young children, as well as adults! I'm currently finishing a Doctorate in Voice from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. I can't wait to meet you and get started!

My students receive individualized lessons based on their interest and ability. They learn to read music notation, play core piano literature, learn theory, music history, and composition.
All students participate in a yearly recital and have the option of entering the NJMTA Piano Festival to be adjudicated each year.
I have a two-fold goal with each student: that she or he become an excellent musician, and that we have fun together as that happens.

About Jennifer

I've been playing the piano since I was seven years old. After going to college and studying music education, I started teaching piano and have fallen in love with this job. "Francesca knows her stuff. I was trained classically in the bel canto classical style when young, and now am doing "commercial" hard rock - but never had that type of training, and want to maintain my singing health with whatever I'm singing. In just a few fun lessons, I've already gotten so much value from working with Francesca. Her ear is tremendous. She goes over the "what" of singing as well as the "how", and makes it easy to learn for anyone who has the "why" (ie, the passion to sing, no matter what style). I've never met a voice teacher that can so effortlessly and willingly transition with me in styles and technique, from opera to Iron Maiden! I'm stoked to be working with Francesca and you will be too!"

"If you like guitar, you'll like James.

I have had about a dozen lessons so far with James, starting out as a complete beginner, with knowledge of only a few chords. In this short time, I have learned a great deal of theory, practice strategy, playing full songs, and even singing along with a few in time. James has been very hospitable and patient, and I recommend him to anyone who loves the guitar, regardless of skill!"

Practice Tips: Vocal Warm-Ups & Technique

Structuring your vocal warm-ups and practice between lessons can make a huge impact on your success. Here, Bloomfield, NJ teacher Zachary B. shares some helpful tips... In my experience, many students make progress during a lesson and often return to the next lesson with the new skills forgotten. Merely practicing songs, without specific structure usually leads to singing the song repeatedly. While this does familiarize you with the song, it does not help you improve from a technical st …
