SCHEDULE NOTE: This is a very busy time of year for me. My availability is quite limited, so please check with me prior to scheduling. I have set the automatic calendar very tightly so please ask if there's a specific date and time not listed that you're interested in booking. END OF NOTE
Hello from Seattle! I love teaching! For more than 40 years and I have been a professional photographer. I was the Team Photographer for the Washington Stealth pro indoor lacrosse team for three years, and teach photography at the Pacific Science Center, the Bellevue Club, The Leica Store, Glazer's Camera, Omega Photo and other locations. I have shot professionally since I was 15. My photos have been published in several magazines and I have three photos published in the New York Times. I was the mission photographer for the first private spaceflight
- Space Ship One, and the first ocean plastic cleanup system. I have experience shooting dozens of cameras from nearly every manufacturer. I often write camera, software and lens reviews for online sites. I am also a former employee of Apple in their advertising department.
I love teaching:
~ Photography 101, Basic Photography How To's ~ Learning How to Really Use Your Camera (Nikon, Canon, Sony, Leica, Panasonic, Olympus and more) ~ How to pick and use the right lenses for the task ~ Photos for your Online Store: Table Top Photography ~ Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop ~ Photo Processing, Editing, Storage ~ Basic Portrait Lighting ~ Travel Photography including making travel books ~ Black & White Photos from your Color Photos ~ Sports Photography ~ Printing Fine Art Photos ~ Color Management ~ Mac computer setup and optimization for photography
and other topics that may be of interest to you. I especially love doing a portfolio review with you where I give you honest critique and suggestions on how to improve your existing photos and think about elevating your new photos.
I like to start with new students by talking on the phone or emailing before our first lesson to get a good sense of your experience and your goals in getting more instruction in photography. I do not charge for this initial conversation once you have registered and scheduled your first lesson package.
Three of my students have gone from amateur to professional and are selling their work.
I am married (28 years!) and I have two boys - one in high school and one graduating college. I have several students in their early teens - I love teaching them because they're so motivated and unafraid of the technology.
We can do lessons together online using Zoom - we can see each other, hear each other, share screens and I can show you step by step how to do everything we cover! Zoom conferencing is free, there's nothing to buy, so it's included in my lesson prices. My students love our online sessions - we go at your pace and answer all the questions you have. My students range in age from 11 to 80.
I am most proud of this comment from one of my students: "There is a difference between teaching and mentoring. While the terms seem similar they are distinct in their approach to the recipient. Brad is innately both with the lessons I participated in. He is a teacher and a mentor.
He taught me but he also "brought me along". On one hand, he gave me excellent raw knowledge and technique but still, on the opposite side of the coin, gave constant reality-based feedback and pushed me without hurting my enthusiasm. He told me about his successes and shortcomings "once upon a time ago" and I didn't see him as infallible as many instructors want you to, I saw him as having lived a path, scouted it, and coming back to help show me the way. He didn't just tell me where I was going wrong, he showed me, then showed me how to correct it, then guided me through the process of correcting it, then followed up. Who could ask for more than that?
Brad is the total package when it comes to instruction. I am a better photographer for having studied with him. I am also making my dreams come true as a businessman. I owe most of that to him. I look forward to my next lessons, but honestly I more so look forward to what is behind the doors he will inevitably open up for me."
My name is Nick and I am a freelance photographer located in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts. I am new to the TakeLessons platform but have many years of experience as a photographer and photography teacher.
I specialize in travel, fine art and sports action photography. I am a life-long photographer having worked for a weekly newspaper, a motorcycle racing magazine, as a wedding and event photographer, and as a sports photographer. Over the last 15 years I have photographed local town events, Middle and High School sports, college football, fund-raising events for non-profit organizations, motorcycle racing, bicycle racing, running road races, Rock ‘n Roll bands, and high school senior portraits. I am now focusing most of my time traveling around the world and making and exhibiting my photographs of the local landscapes and people. Many o
f my images have been published in newspapers, on various websites, and exhibited in many art galleries.
I enjoy teaching students how to "make" photographs, drawing from the skills and techniques that I have learned from my real-world experiences as a photographer. My students learn how to use their camera as an expression of their artistic vision. They will learn all aspects of workflow including research and preparation, camera settings, composition, post-processing, printing, and framing. The goal is for each student to create images that they would be proud to exhibit or display on their wall at home.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, please contact me for further information, to discuss your goals and objectives for making pictures, or to schedule a session. I offer both in person and remote lessons. Thank you.
Nick was awesome. Helped me choose the proper camera settings to optimize conditions and maximize the quality of the image. Educated me on controlling settings for various light conditions and depth of field. Very helpful and well worth the drive. I will definitely call on him again to fine tune what I've learned once I have a chance to practice.

Greetings! I am a 2D and 3D Animator, Designer, and Director of Animation who has been creating computer graphics professionally at a Boston production company for nearly a decade. My regular work includes animation and motion graphics, 3D modeling and rendering, compositing, visual effects, graphic design, and film/audio editing.
My work can be seen in museums across North America including the National World War II Museum, the San Juan National Historic Site in Puerto Rico, the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, and the Canadian History Hall in Quebec. I have also created animation for documentaries such as the Emmy-nominated "Birth of a Movement" and "Give Me the Banjo," narrated by Steve Martin.
I am passionate about teaching and love helping folks with their computer graphics endeavors, regardless of age or experience level. As a
teacher I am patient, articulate, encouraging, and committed to helping students reach their goals.
I am experienced with many digital tools including After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Autodesk Maya, and V-Ray.
I think computer graphics is a fantastic area to get into. It is the core foundation of many modern career paths, and a great supplement to many more. It's also a ton of fun, and enables you to tell any sort of visual story you can imagine, given the proper tools. If you're interested in growing your computer graphics capabilities, whether you're an industry veteran or absolute beginner, I would love to share my experience and help you on your journey.
I am a very down to earth, calm and patient person who absolutely loves helping people. I have tutored since highschool starting with special needs kids and into college where I tutored peers and their siblings in Math/Bio/Chemistry and Programming. I am willing to spend whatever amount of time it takes to pre-prep before your lesson so that you get the most out of your time and walk out with the best understanding you can! Contact me and lets get started!
I am a working professional software engineer who also enjoys some video games, simulations, mountain biking, working on cars, and tinkering with just about anything.
I have loved computer programming and software engineering ever since my first program I wrote on my graphing calculator in high school. I have a Master's Degree in Software Engineering and 15 years of work experience.
I loved my formal schooling, but I love making practical application of computer science principles even more. I have worked professionally in C/C++, Java, and for the past 10 years C#. Often I find that the language you're using isn't the problem, rather the ability to understand the big picture and come up with an elegant solution.
I look forward to working with you to take your abilities to the next level and have some fun with it as you go.
