I have written numerous highly reviewed and ranked papers, primarily in the field of architecture. Architectural history, building technology, and green architecture are a few of the topics that I have previously written about. I know how to grab the reader's attention and keep it throughout the remainder of the piece. Graphics, detailed explanantions, as well as real world examples are a few trick I use to captivate the reader.

About Steven

I'm a recent graduate of the Boston Architectural College, and employed by a large architectural firm in Boston. I am currently teaching a Rhino 3-D course at the BAC I tutor in all aspects of architecture including portfolio design, writing, software tutoring, design critiquing, and overall academic guidance. For software, I specialize in the Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros, and V-Ray. I've tutored students of all differing ages and skill sets, ranging from novice to advanced user. Further, I have numerous references and reviews about my services that I would be happy to pass along, as well as past design work that I have done both academically and professionally. Lastly, I have numerous resources students can use after tutoring sessions are complete such as reference manuals, tutorials, and websites to visit for additional learn

Adam is a really great listener and excellent source of thought provoking, well timed input that has really helped me develop and improve my story organically without changing its intention with strong suggestions as most people's feedback often attempts to do. Adam Gaines is a godsend. I was really lucky to have his guidance over the years which helped my craft and dedication to the art of writing greatly. He is a proven writer with legitimate credits but also, he actually cares. He is always ready to help and takes your material seriously which is most important when you want honest feedback and guidance. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of films, screenwriting, and the industry that is both impressive and beneficial. He is a wonderful friend and mentor who will always have a great recommendation or suggestion ready for your work and/or career. Adam is an extremely open individual with an immense passion for film and the craft of screenwriting which becomes infectious. That trait is crucial since it keeps you driven to keep learning and grow. He is also an excellent conversationalist with his own voice which is truly refreshing. Highly recommend.

Hannah was the music director at the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church in Carlisle, Iowa for the past three years, and was a wonderful addition to our congregation! I serve as the pastor of that church, and was always impressed with Hannah's ability to help not only plan the music for worship - this include weekly hymn selections - but also her incredible singing voice and vocal range. She will be missed dearly, and I do not hesitate in the least to recommend her expertise and skills in teaching.

Knowledgable and EXTREMELY patient
Christopher came here to teach me pivot tables which I needed to know for work. I had no knowledge of what they were or did and when he left I had an understanding which I did not think I could achieve in such a short time. The patience he showed was wonderful as I was nervous and he put me at ease which is not an easy task! He also had to figure out what I need to do (in Excel)when I do not completely understand it myself but by the time he left, he understood and I am confident that I can succeed now and it is all because of Christopher!

Private Writing Teacher

I have been teaching and tutoring writing for over 10 years. I bring a unique, interdisciplinary perspective to the table because I have taught academic writing across the disciplines in the social sciences and humanities. I have also collaboratively taught writing intensive seminars with engineering faculty. In addition, my current writing project is a historical fiction manuscript based on my dissertation research on the Reformation era.

I enjoy working with students from middle school age through adults of all ages. My previous students have ranged from adults returning to school after many years in the workforce, to high school and middle school students who were seeking mentorship in academic and creative writing, to adults working on writing their dissertations. In my lessons, I work with you to help create a learning environment that is suited to your unique needs.

In addition to my writing background, I also have professional theatre experience, which I build on when I ...

About Sarah

I have been a professional Writing Consultant, Editor, and professor for over ten years. My training in writing consulting began at Oberlin College, where I worked in my first university writing center and studied teaching and tutoring across the disciplines. I then went on to apply my training in teaching writing across the disciplines through my teaching in the disciplines of history, religious studies, political science, and university writing programs. I have a Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of Denver. I am also a writer of historical fiction (my blog is available at historicalfictionfornow.wordpress.com). Finally, I also bring professional theatre experience to the table, with a focus on Shakespeare.

Writing students can expect to learn practical strategies and tools to help them become stronger writers. Throug

h lessons, students will learn not only the tools that will help them develop strong language, reasoning, and organization skills, but they will also learn to trust their own writer's voice. Good writing is about craft, persistence, attention to each stage of the process, and being authentic to one's own ideas.

Shakeaspearean theatre/acting students can expect to work on deep analysis of Shakespeare's texts. By starting with the language itself-- both the words, as well as their rhythm and structure--students will learn techniques that will help them delve deeply into character work and the historical context, while also finding ways to deliver their lines naturally.

I enjoy working with students of all ages, starting with high school students and moving through adults of all ages. Here are some examples of the types of writing and students I have worked with previously:

-High school students planning their college essays or preparing for the SAT or ACT (I was previously an SAT exam rater);
-High school and college students seeking support to become stronger writers in their academic classes;
-Adults in career transitions: I've helped with job searches, focusing on cover letters and resumes, graduate school applications, and writing assignments in graduate classes as students who have been in the workforce for a long time get re-acquainted with academic work;
-Graduate students working on their dissertations, from the earlier phases of their literature reviews to the final revisions before they finish their degrees;
-Creative writing coaching and mentoring for high school students seeking individual support

I would look forward to working with you!

Of the different instructors I have collaborated with, Sarah is by far one of the instructors who has most consciously worked to make sure that her course design met the goals and learning outcomes of the curricula. From the first day I met her, she already had a syllabus design that met any suggestions I might make from my previous years' experience teaching courses in our program. I know she worked actively with others in the program in designing her materials, and she took all their comments to heart, building her syllabus around their recommendations for achieving learning outcomes.
In addition to creating assignments that clearly and usefully supported the goals of the program, Sarah incorporated the community contributions elements of the program, as well. She invited speakers from the campus community and the broader community. The students responded positively to all of these speakers, and they actively incorporated the ideas they learned from them in their work for the course.
The students' final presentations are the best indication of how successful Sarah's course was. The students were asked to use their academic research paper to create a policy paper or deliverable to a stakeholder of the students' choosing. The students created such fantastic presentations, that some of them could perhaps have been sent to the intended stakeholder--if we had the right contacts--with only minor revisions. The final presentations indicated that they achieved the learning outcomes of the course.

Thanks to Sarah's help with my high school daughter's writing, my daughter achieved major milestones in her work as a creative writer. Sarah helped my daughter learn how to write in genres she never had before (poetry, short stories, and drama) and to have more confidence in her ability as a writer and a person. Also, whenever I wrote Sarah with questions about her sessions with my daughter, she always took time to write thoughtful responses that showed how much she cared about my daughter's growth.
