Greetings Everyone,

My education includes two undergraduate degrees in performance from Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA and Boston Conservatory in Boston, MA. My Master's Degree is from Boston University in Music Education. Teaching private lessons is my passion and nothing makes me happier than to see my students succeed in their future endeavors.

Lauren taught my son saxophone for 5 years, beginning with his very first lesson at age 9, and continuing throughout middle school. She was always very patient, reassuring, and encouraging. Lauren really helped to develop my son's love for music and playing the sax! She prepared him for middle school jazz band auditions, and helped with his jazz band music throughout those years. Lauren challenged him with new selections when his school band music became too easy, but always allowed him to work at a pace he found comfortable. Now in HS, he's very busy with all things band, so lesson time is limited for him, but we wouldn't hesitate to call Lauren again.

Lauren has been giving my son saxophone lessons for over 4 years. She has been an excellent teacher always on time and available. He has progressed under her direction very well. Currently, she's teaching our daughter acoustic guitar and we've been very happy with her progress.

We had a little trouble with our connection but Lauren is great and very patient. Hopefully we can get all the issues with the connection worked out and we are looking forward to the next class! I think it’s going to help my daughter a lot!

Frankie helped me with my clarinet tone within the first 15 minutes of the first lesson, and gave me many more helpful playing tips throughout the hour. He was really interested in what my goals were. Looking forward to many more lessons with Frankie.

20 years of experience playing the saxophone. I offer lessons that are molded to the student's interests and skill level. Depending on the kind of music the student enjoys will determine how I lead the lesson. I also enjoy introducing my students to different genres of music and artists that they may have not heard in the past. Overall, I'm pretty down-to-earth. Depending on your experience, with my lessons, you'll learn to read music, train your ear, sight read, and properly play the instrument and we'll eventually delve into a deeper understanding of music theory. I try not to be too earnest and strict because I think it's important for the student to have fun. I take a youthful approach to teaching: I attempt to find common ground with the student and relate to them on some level that might not even have to do with music (although relating on a musical level is obviously preferred). Under my guidance, students often actively pursue their desire to further their musical studies. ...

Strong instrumental playing begins with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of music and the simple act of making a sound from the instrument. Students learn to play music by ear first, and are later introduced to music notation. More advanced lessons emphasize sight-reading, expression, and improvisation.

A woodwind player since age 10, Thomas has experience as a performer and teacher. His previous education has included methodology classes on teaching specific instruments, and he is available to teach intermediate and beginning saxophone lessons.

About Thomas

Piano, woodwinds, trumpet, composition Chords, sight-reading, theory, jazz, classical, and pop No one ever regrets learning an instrument… yet many grow old wishing they had taken music lessons! A talent they’ll be able to develop their entire life, your children will thank you for giving them

The first lesson was successful. My particular background in piano is unique, and my needs are atypical as well. I thought Thomas assessed my abilities, lack of abilities, and goals well and quickly. He started me on a different perspective on looking at music (reading the staff) that seems very helpful. I'm encouraged.

"I look forward to my lessons with Dan every week. I’m a beginner alto player and Dan does a great job patiently answering all my questions and giving comprehensive advice. He’s very analytical and gives you the detailed context of why what you’re learning is important and how it fits into the context of playing in a band, different styles etc. He will flex lessons based on what you need to know but also what you’re interested in. Most importantly he’s fun and just an all around great guy. He’s the man, what else can I say."

"I highly recommend Julian as a saxophone teacher. My son started playing saxophone and taking lessons with Julian three years ago, when my son was 9 years old. Julian is patient with my son and has built a good rapport with him. Julian has always encouraged him to try his best and to not be discouraged when he makes mistakes, and that has made my son comfortable with Julian and confident enough to push himself. Also, Julian is reliable and punctual, and is good at communicating through text and email."

"Being new to the online lesson format, I was skeptical at first, and have waited about 5 lessons to write this review. I am really glad we (randomly) picked Lucas to help my 6th grade son get started with saxophone. I'm so impressed with Lucas' ability to gauge through at at times imperfect internet connection what feedback to give my son. Lucas is excellent at giving instruction in understandable, and usable bites of information. The lessons are well paced and I can hear my son improve over the course of every lesson. The convenience of the online lesson cannot be overstated- we live in a rural area where finding an teacher and getting to a lesson was challenging to fit into our schedules, so it is amazing to have such great instruction on a schedule that fits in with our life. I would definitely recommend Lucas specifically, and the takelessons format to anyone looking for saxophone lessons."
