I have been arranging music for over years, so I am very update on music theory rules, skills, and tricks! I teach music and music theory when I teach private voice, voice classes, a cappella classes, and musical direct musicals. I took AP music theory in high school and went on to take ear training and music theory at Syracuse University, where I received my BFA in Theatre. I have Sibelius, a music notation software, and am very proficient in it because of my music theory knowledge.

I graduated with a BFA in Acting/Theatre from the theatre program at Syracuse University (SU). At SU, I also studied in the Setnor School of Music, taking choir, music theory, and competing with a collegiate a cappella group. Through my undergrad degree, I studied at the Globe Theatre in London and spent a semester taking classes with Broadway and TV/Film Casting agents in New York City. I have performed professionally in Scotland, New York, and toured many theatres and schools in Chicago, Wisconsin, and Indiana. I am energetic, positive, and specific. Singing can be easy and fun and I hope to instill that in all my students. I like to get work done while still smiling and laughing. In lessons, we will focus on properly using your breath and body to have the best technique possible. Whether you want to sing classical repertoire in your all-state choir, get into a competitive musical theatre BFA program, win scholarships, audition for Broadway or Disney, or belt a pop song better in your car/shower, I can definitely help you! Between 1 to 6 months, you can expect to have a stronger and fuller voice/sound, feel more confident singing/acting, and perform with more ease. We will stretch your vocal range so you begin to sing even higher and lower than before! I like to start the lesson with warm-ups and vocalizations, work in a little music theory, and then work on repertoire. I have many repertoire books and can help you choose songs that best fit your age, gender, and personality. However, you can also have the option of bringing in pieces you need to work on for auditions, shows, or just for fun! I encourage students to record the lesson so that you can practice between lessons and record notes if you are learning a song. I think music and theatre allows people to express themselves, gain confidence, and use their creativity/imagination. Great technique is a solid foundation for developing skills and individuality in your craft and a long career.

the mid-70s. I became an assistant to composer and author of "The Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization" copyrighted by George Russell. I also leaned music theory traditionally. Students can learn all definable chord types, intervals and rhythms etc. I am a composer, guitarist and percussionist, who has the ability to share this information with my students !

Gregg was my musical instructor during the early 1980ties. What I learned in a few lessons with him was more that I could have expected. I was primarily focused on percussion, of which his vast knowledge was highly dynamic. I learned about poly-rhythms, Indian ti-hies, and complex time signatures. He had available much reference material that he provided me. And over the years his musical insights have not only supplemented my inquiries, but made me a better musician and person. I hope you have a chance to study with Gregg, as you will be introduced to a new and better way of musicianship!

Itai graduated from SUNY Purchase with a BA in Studio Composition in 2007, and from Hebrew College with a Masters' Degree in Jewish Education in June, 2016. He has been working in after-school, Hebrew school, camp, and other supplementary educational settings for over ten years. Itai's Hebrew students are either studying for their bnei mitzvah, maintaining their conversational Hebrew, or learning for the purpose of competence of services or Torah study. His piano students have ranged from five-year olds just starting, to young children learning Classical pieces, to teens learning to play the songs they like, to adults working on their songwriting and improvisation. Lessons will accommodate the student's goals. Itai's strengths are improvisation, music theory and ear training, and accompaniment of popular songs - rock, theater, pop, folk,

This first class was great. We had some small problems with the camera and voice, but that had nothing to do with Itai. My son was excited when class was over. He is looking forward to his next lesson.

I am one of those individuals for whom teaching is just something that I have to do. I started giving music lessons sometime in the 80's and have loved working with all levels of skill and experience. My students say that I am patient, adaptive and encouraging, committed to making music fun.

I have a Masters of Music from New England Conservatory in Jazz Piano and am comfortable and fluent in a number of musical styles, including pop, rock, gospel, traditional hymnody, jazz, and R&B. Although I love and study classical music, it is not something I teach at this point.

In addition to private lessons and performing, I do music transcription, workshops, and all forms of vocal and instrumental arranging. Bil Mooney-McCoy is a life-long Boston resident who has been playing music all his life. Having served as a church musician for more
than 30 years, I am currently the Director of Worship for the chapel at Gordon College, a small Christian school north of Boston. I'm often involved in city-wide music events in Boston’s faith-based community and in demand as a featured musician for church services, parties, concerts and other events.

I hold a Masters of Music from New England Conservatory in Jazz Piano and am comfortable and fluent in a number of musical styles. My priority as a teacher is to make the learning process fun, life-giving, and productive. I teach with patience and humor, at a challenging but not frustrating pace.

There are at least two ways that might set me apart from other teachers.

Firstly, I have honed and developed "people skills". I am an ordained minister and have held positions where I was formally and informally in a mentoring/pastoring role. I bring that sensitivity to my music lessons, understanding that personal and emotional issues can be triggered by the engagement with the music and skills being worked on.

Secondly, I've had a remarkable broad base of experience. My coursework has exposed me to a wide breadth of ideas and tools; my work life has been long and varied; I have had extensive experience in many different cultural contexts, both musically and otherwise; and I work well with many age groups and skill levels.

Regarding my teaching approach:
For beginners, I have a fairly consistent set of topics and skill sets to cover. Generally, in a few months, piano students (particularly those in middle school through adulthood) should know how to play major, minor and seventh chords, how to read simple chord charts and some very basic accompanying skills. Guitar students should know a dozen open chords and have been introduced to barre chords, and to have learned several styles of finger picking as well as strumming. Bass students should know how to find notes on the board and will have begun to learn how to fill out a song with an expressive but non-obtrusive bass line.

For intermediate students, the pace, direction and focus on lessons depends upon the goals and passions of the student along with the amount of time he or she has to practice. My goals for students at this level and beyond is to learn how to learn. I will use outstanding recorded examples of particular skills or stylistic idioms to help my students understand and master each new concept. I often will check in with my student to make sure that we are on track with what they are hoping for.

For advanced students, we will generally target very specific objectives. I also try to add elements of theory, history, culture, and even life lessons to apply to the topics we address. Because of my background in pastoral ministry, I can serve as a mentor addressing the emotional and relational issues of playing music as well as its technical aspects.

After Anastasia’s Carnegie Hall Debut in 2006, the New York Concert Review wrote: "For a critic, hearing a new pianist with a truly warm, luscious tone is like breathing in the scent of jasmine blooming - a pleasure to be recalled again and again - and so I'm happy to report that from the first note she touched at her Weill Hall recital, Anastasia S. was a genuine pleasure to listen to. Every piece, every measure, every note - no matter how complex the texture, no matter how many strands of melody and accompaniment - was wrapped in a halo of golden tone..."

Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Anastasia S. gave her first solo recital at the age of eleven. Ms. S. is a graduate of the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, Germany, and holds a Master’s and a Doctorate degrees from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford.

In 2003 Anastasia received
First Prize in the 14th International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Rome, Italy, and was awarded a Special Prize. In year 2006 Ms. S. won the Puigcerda International Piano Competition in Spain. Anastasia’s recent engagements included a performance at the Bolshoi Hall of Moscow Conservatory as well as solo appearances with orchestras in the United States and Germany featuring concerti by Prokofieff, Mozart, Grieg, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Stravinsky. In 2014 her new CD "Music of Russian-Jewish composers for oboe and piano" was released. Currently, Anastasia is working on her two new solo CD's for Centaur Records.

As an adult beginner, I chose Anastasia for more personalized instruction, especially in technique, after learning the basics through community center group lessons. I have not continued only because another equally well-qualified instructor who lives close by, within walking distance, has become available. I am very pleased with the lessons and pointers that I have received. Anastasia is professional, encouraging, and friendly. An especially helpful part of her instruction is the set of comments and suggestions that she writes down to guide practice between lessons. If the neighbor instructor does not work out, I’ll be back.

I am a professional jazz guitarist, singer-songwriter and teacher. I've been teaching music to students of all ages privately and in groups since 1998. After graduating from William Paterson University with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance I spent 10 years in New York City working as a freelance musician and operating my own guitar studio. Since that time I have also been affiliated with several teaching studios, private schools, public schools and international schools. With a comprehensive background in Jazz, Classical and Rock guitar as well as electric bass, piano, music theory and voice; I am uniquely qualified to teach students of all ages and levels.

As a teacher, I think it’s most important to provide my students with a well rounded musical education that focuses on and adapts to what they are interested in lea
rning. Music lessons should be fun and I always keep that as my number one priority while also making sure that my students are getting a solid musical education that they will be happy with now and in the future. I pride myself on being patient, enthusiastic, empathetic and always prepared. I’m familiar with all of the most popular methods and have also created a large library of my own teaching materials.

During my career, I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to teach several different populations in the US, Greece and Germany. These diverse experiences have been extremely challenging and helped make me into a stronger teacher. From 2001-2003 I taught at the Center for Individualized Training and Education(CITE) which is a special needs school in Providence, RI. At CITE, I worked with students ages 6-17 and learned a lot about how to use music to bring joy to students who are not necessarily able to engage in a traditional musical education. In 2016, I created a music program in Athens, Greece for refugee children seeking asylum. I worked in conjunction with the School Box Organization to raise money for instruments, and taught guitar and hand drum classes at a school they had set up in a refugee squat. Although I'm no longer at the school, I am still helping to oversee the program and plan to do more of this work in the future. During my time in New York City, I worked with kids attending some of the most exclusive private schools in the country and dealt with the challenge of fitting music into an extremely demanding and high pressure educational environment. All of these experiences have helped shape my teaching philosophy as well as my views on life and music. I am currently teaching students in Boston as well as online lessons in Canada, Europe and the US.

Matt Macaulay has taught me guitar in his studio and at my home over the course of the last two years. He is a wonderful teacher, caring, thoughtful and thorough. I've had a lot of music teachers over the years but Matt stood out in his ability to provide organized and interesting teaching sessions which are well prepared for in advance and always entertaining. I am a professional songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and recording artist. I graduated from Wesleyan University with a Bachelors of Music, specifically Jazz and Music Production.

Music Theory students can expect to work each week on understanding core music theory concepts. Some of the practice each week will include analyzing classical pieces, and writing out exercises on staff paper, but a large portion of the lesson is about applying the concepts to contemporary music and even to original compositions by the student. I encourage students to explore how these concepts present themselves in the genres of music that my students are interested in. I teach beginner and intermediate piano students. I've been playing piano for 10+ years with a concentration in contemporary keyboard and musical theater. Depending on the needs of the student, we can work on sight reading and classical technique, or learning how to read chord sheets and tabs online in order to play contemporary songs.

As a professional touring and recording artist, I like to work songwriting into all of my lesson plans. For any student particularly interested in songwriting, I can make that a much larger portion of the lessons. Songwriting is a uniquely intimate art. Rather than tell a student how I think they should write songs, I strive to empower the student to be able to make the artistic decisions that they want. By making conscious decisions based on their musical knowledge, the student can grow his or her's own unique songwriting voice.

My personal passion is contemporary songwriting, but my own musical journey included many genres like Classical, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Theater, and more. I would not be the songwriter I am today without all these different experiences, so my goal has always been to foster passion and excitement for the material any student is learning.

Jacob is a fantastic instructor. He was prompt, flexible, patient, and insightful. He was well-prepared with instructional material and provided a level of teaching that went beyond expectations. I am currently a semester away to graduate from Berklee College of Music. I am currently double majoring in Music Production&Engineering and Electronic Production&Design.

Well, I'm Pedro, I grew up in a country known for amazing coffee, yet, its music, although underrated, is way cooler than the taste of it.

If you're like me and like to explore new genres and crave for new information, I'll definitely surprise you.

You see, Colombia is divided by great mountains, deserts, rivers and jungles, it has built several fissures between towns and cities, making it diverse and colorful, just like my career in music. Since there isn't anything static about Colombia, I had played a vast amount of genres, including: Jazz, R&B, pop, salsa (tropical music in general), colombian folk music, as a producer made trap, hip hop and even reggaeton beats.

I've been playing the piano for around 10 years, also played electric bass as a kid, learned to play a little bit of drums here in Boston many years ago and I'm a
lso a music producer (Logic X). I specialize in music theory, I've studied from Bach to Schoenberg and modern music theory, you know, jazz can get very tricky.
