About Stephen
I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in Piano and Film Scoring.
I love many styles which include, Film scores, Pop, New age, Rock, improv, Classical and some Jazz.
I teach basic to intermediate. (Scales, finger exercises, chords, arpeggios, theory, simple songs, posture and breathing, etc.)

Last year, I taught an eight year old girl and three boys. I currently worked at Piano Playtime where I teach twelve Kindergarten to 4th grade group piano lessons. I am fun, easy to get along with, and very patient with kids and adults.

In the past, I scored a local film titled "The Times Were Never So Bad: The Life of Andre Dubus" who's son Andre Dubus III wrote the story "The House of Sand and Fog." In 2003 the novel was adapted into a film starring Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly. The film won first place
at the Providence Film Fest in 2007. I also composed a jingle for the online college Capella University.

I have a car and can come to your location or you can come to me depending on distance. I look forward in sharing this musical journey with you!

Steve is an excellent teacher! I always look forward to my classes. I am a student in high school, and he fully understands my need to balance my school work with piano, and he makes sure that I am able to comfortably commit to both aspects of my life. Steve makes sure that I stay on task and that I am progressing with my piano skills all while making the lessons fun and enjoyable.

Stephen was informative, patient, and very punctual. He made the effort to explain things thoroughly and gave me leeway to work on my skills at my own pace.

Ana is a terrific Algebra tutor. Our daughter is a freshman and Ana is really helping her to not only understand the work but also learn ways to approach problem solving and assessments strategically. She is very positive, approachable and great with teens.

About Nick
My name is Nick and I am a freelance photographer located in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts. I am new to the TakeLessons platform but have many years of experience as a photographer and photography teacher.

I specialize in travel, fine art and sports action photography. I am a life-long photographer having worked for a weekly newspaper, a motorcycle racing magazine, as a wedding and event photographer, and as a sports photographer. Over the last 15 years I have photographed local town events, Middle and High School sports, college football, fund-raising events for non-profit organizations, motorcycle racing, bicycle racing, running road races, Rock ‘n Roll bands, and high school senior portraits. I am now focusing most of my time traveling around the world and making and exhibiting my photographs of the local landscapes and people. Many o
f my images have been published in newspapers, on various websites, and exhibited in many art galleries.

I enjoy teaching students how to "make" photographs, drawing from the skills and techniques that I have learned from my real-world experiences as a photographer. My students learn how to use their camera as an expression of their artistic vision. They will learn all aspects of workflow including research and preparation, camera settings, composition, post-processing, printing, and framing. The goal is for each student to create images that they would be proud to exhibit or display on their wall at home.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, please contact me for further information, to discuss your goals and objectives for making pictures, or to schedule a session. I offer both in person and remote lessons. Thank you.

This was a great photography lesson. I was highly impressed with Jon's style and matter. He is friendly and clear. I had been confused about some fundamental settings of my camera, and Jon walked me through all the settings, and gave a big view of how to use my camera creatively. I have some lessons to now try out what I learned and I'll be getting back to him once I test out my new understanding. I think this is going to make photography much more fun and purposeful. I highly recommend Jon no matter where you are on your photography journey. He clearly knows his stuff, A to Z!

About Brendan
Hello! My name is Brendan and I'm an Oil Painter, Artist, and Illustrator. (Check out a few examples of my work below)

I love teaching art. My classes offer an individualized lesson plan and an invigorating method of learning the processes of painting and drawing.

We start with the fundamentals such as line, shape, proportion, form, structure, light, shadow, and color. Then we move into a much more expressive way of working where we focus on mood, experimentation, emotion, and the practice of unleashing you're creative potential.

As a whole you will be taught both technical and creative approaches to art and you're free to use both how you wish. Through my lessons, my goal is to open your mind to the possibilities and benefits you can experience through self exploration when creating art.

I will provide all the materials dur
ing our lessons, such as paints, brushes, pencils, erasers, surfaces, easels, and more. The only thing I ask that you bring is your passion and interest for painting and drawing. As long as you have that, I have no problem teaching anyone at any skill level or age.

I highly recommend you choose to work at my location as it will provide the most resources for you to get the most out of your lessons, as well as save you money. If for any reason you are not comfortable with this please shoot me a message and we can discuss other possibilities.

Please feel free to fill out the short survey or message me with any questions you have before you sign up for your lessons.

I look forward to working with you and creating some art!

Brendan is a great instructor! I've taken both painting and drawing lessons with Brendan and I've learned more from taking a few lessons with him then I thought I could learn in a year! His lessons are both fun and insightful with his teaching methods combining expressionist style and technical skills. You can tell he's passionate about teaching you how to learn and discover on your own and he's always encouraged me to take risks with my work. I can't wait for my next lesson.

About Margot
I am a graduate of Dartmouth College where I completed a Major in Studio Art. I work both in oils (painting) and in several drawing media (charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, pen and ink, etc.). My work has won several awards and been exhibited throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. As an exhibiting member of several art associations (including the Wellesley Society of Artists, the Dedham Art Association, and the Malden Sketch Group), I am active in the Boston area artist community. I draw and paint everyday. I attend figure drawing sessions at least twice each week to keep my skills fresh. In my personal art practice I specialize in portraiture but I occasionally dabble in landscape, still life, or whatever catches my artist's eye. I find the creation of art an amazingly fulfilling pursuit and I enjoy sharing my passion with others.
