I recently completed a minor in religious studies while completing my BA at a 4-year college. I greatly enjoyed my school's religion program, taking classes such as Biblical Hebrew, Christian, Judaic, and Islamic scriptures, World Religions, Sexuality and religion, and more, earning a 4.0 GPA in the religion department. I had a great time studying religion, and I would love to help others have a great time studying religion as well. Religions are an enormous part of humanity-historically and today, so learning about them can be enlightening in many ways, spiritually and otherwise.

15+ years' experience -- math and science specialist!

If you've been muddling along with Lewis dot structures or kinetics has you hitting your head against the wall, I've got your back! Focused but encouraging, enthusiastic but personable, I've patiently helped my students reach that "light-bulb moment" countless times.

Guiding someone to understanding a concept they struggle with is of course a major part of tutoring, but I'm also really big on coaching students to be methodical and have a system. Content knowledge is only part of the puzzle; problem-solving skills are crucial. Check out my testimonials to hear from my students themselves on that!

About Stephanie

NOTE: I recommend 90 minutes for a first session -- in my experience, 60 minutes tends not to be enough to both get the lay of the land and deliver a reassuring and substantive amount of support. I look forward to working with you! I went to Princeton University and studied molecular biology. I

Besides being a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry and a previous chemistry TA, I tutored Chem 1 students long before I went to grad school. I was actually a physics major then. Turns out that most of Chem 1 is actually quantum chemistry, a subject that is studied in depth in physics, is typically introduced to chemistry majors for the first time without any previous exposure. This leaves many Chem 1 students struggling to understand the subject matter and why it is important. For the entire foundation of chemistry lies on top of quantum mechanics. Although technically you could pass your organics classes and analytical classes without ever understanding quantum mechanics, but you're missing out on the fundamental concepts. And if you ever go further into chemistry, not understand the basics will hamper you from going into chemistry. Besides, you don't really need to know all the details of quantum mechanics, unless you go into physical or inorganic chemistry. Most biochem and ...

"Amadou is fantastic! My daughter is 9, going into the 4th grade and math has been a struggle for her. Kara was very nervous at first, as this was her first online class! Amadou helped her become comfortable fast. She loved the fact that he could make her laugh. He has the skill to make math fun! She was so encouraged with the lesson and feels so much more confident in what she's learned. She was surprised at how much she picked up so quickly with the little 'tools' Amadou went over. What a great class/lesson. Thanks Amadou!"

How to Analyze an Argument in an Essay | 4 Easy Steps

At some point in your academic career, you'll need to know how to analyze an argument properly. Here, tutor Andrew P. shares his guide to success...   As a college student, you'll be expected at some point to understand, restate, comment on, or discuss someone’s assertion (strongly stated position). An argument is a reason(s) for a conclusion. He is dense (reason); therefore, I won’t talk with him (conclusion). I won’t talk with him (conclusion) because he is dense (r …
