I grew up speaking both Japanese and English at home and understand the difficulty of trying to juggle both languages! Whether you want to learn a new language, or simply want to brush up on your Japanese skills, I am always happy to be of help! Lessons will include reading, writing, listening, and speaking (both formal and colloquial styles). I typically use the Genki and Tobira books and also like to introduce students to classic and modern Japanese literature as a way to enhance the students’ cultural knowledge. I welcome beginning and intermediate Japanese students!

About Mona
I'm an active flutist and Japanese enthusiast currently living in Seattle, WA! I hold degrees in Flute Performance from New England Conservatory and the University of Washington, and will continue my studies on Fulbright at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland this fall. I believe that learning music should be fun and inspiring, but that 95% of artistry is simply hard work! I therefore create a positive and encouraging environment for all of my students, while still setting challenging goals. Additionally, I tailor my teaching to fit each student’s needs so that learning potential can be maximized. Stylistic choices in musical expression/phrasing are encouraged through the incorporation of music theory, music history, and ear training skills into lessons. I also believe that body awareness is important, and will include stretches and
practice methods into each lesson, so students can practice efficiently and prevent injuries!

I grew up speaking both Japanese and English and welcome beginning Japanese students! Students and I work out of the Genki I, Genki II, and the Tobira textbooks. Japanese lessons focus on reading, writing, and speaking standard Japanese at the conversational level.

I am a private tutor of Japanese for all ages, currently from age 7 to middle-age. I love to be a witness when my students suddenly "get" something new we've been working on for a while. Japanese is a fascinating, beautiful, and complicated language, and it's exciting to be a partner in my students' achievements and success!

I have a lot of experience teaching middle school and high school age students--including my own kids, whom I homeschool. My first visit to Japan was a semester study abroad in my senior year of high school, and I've lived there off and on since then. My students receive the benefit of my life experiences there, including preparation for the realities of daily life in Japan--from how to use the public transit, to what to do during a natural disaster.

Along with my on-the-ground experience working in Japan as a translator/interpreter in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, I hold an M.A. in Japanese and N1 (highest level) certification on the Japanese ...

About Clare
After two years working as a translator/interpreter for a local government office in Kochi, Japan, I moved back to the US last year. Since then, I have been a private teacher of Japanese for all ages, currently from age 7 to mid-40s. I love to be a witness when my students suddenly "get" something new we've been working on for a while. Japanese is a fascinating, beautiful, and complicated language, and it's exciting to be a partner in my students' achievements and success!

I am highly experienced in teaching middle school and high school age students--including my own kids, whom I homeschool. My first visit to Japan was a semester study abroad in my senior year of high school, so I can give ample advice to students who are preparing to go to Japan. Along with my on-the-ground experience living and working in Japan in a fast-paced and hig

こんにちは!As someone with a B.A. in Linguistics and the Japanese language, you can tell I have a passion for languages!

In my lessons, you can expect to learn Japanese starting from the basics (Hiragana and Katakana), before later moving on to a little Kanji. The lessons will be tailored to the needs and interests of the student, and we will engage in basic Japanese conversation.

I'm looking forward to teaching you all!

About Andrew
I am a member of a progressive rock band and have played guitar for over 10 years, and bass for 9. I give beginner and intermediate students of all ages a relaxed one-on-one environment in which they can learn to play the guitar, or build upon their current skillsets.

I'm very open to the students' musical interests when structuring lessons. Each student's needs and interests will be met in a teaching experience tailored to the individual. It's easiest to learn an instrument when you get to learn the stuff you're interested in, after all!
I look forward to helping you find passion in playing the guitar, and growing as a musician!

Genres of music I am best with: Rock, Metal, Blues, Latin, Jazz, Funk

I have been taking guitar lessons with Andrew, and he has been an excellent tutor. Though I started without too much experience in music or in guitar playing, Andrew demonstrated a lot of patience to ensure that I master the basics. His patience is definitely a rare trait for a musician who is as accomplished as Andrew, and in my opinion demonstrates not only his commit to music, but also his passion for sharing the joy of guitar to everyone. As a newcomer to learning this amazing instrument, I could not ask for a better instructor.

Thanks for reading my profile. My name is Allison, and I have been a casual tutor for Japanese for over 4 years. I taught myself the language back when I was only 11, and have continued to grow and flourish with many Japanese friends and students who continually guide me on my journey. I'm proud to say nearly all of my students who have come to me for help have reached fluency in, on average, two years. This is because I get it. I understand how Japanese works-- the frustration and desire to quit is strong, being that it IS such a difficult language. Luckily, since I myself have overcome it, I recognize the optimal strategies for crossing boundaries and reaching new heights in fluency you may have never experienced before! My highest priority is seeing you grow and learn, and I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed when you study with me.

About Allison
I am an Asian culture and language enthusiast, with my specialties being of Korean and Japanese focus. I am a self taught Japanese speaker who holds the N2 level of proficiency in the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test). This means that my Japanese is to a point where I could live so-to-speak as a Japanese person without problems in Japan.

My priorities are your satisfaction and education. As someone who has had to go through the struggle of learning Japanese alone, I know the strenuous points of the journey and would be more than happy to guide you through the process. I teach using methods verified by tutors all over the world, with special twists of my own-- the ones that brought me to fluency in just under two years!

I provide textbooks, worksheets, homework (if desired), and mentoring for reading, writing, speaking, listening
, and comprehension. I have a variety of resources to use for those who are just starting out, and my extensive knowledge of the culture and language give me a unique perspective on tutoring for intermediate and advanced learners. I'm able to explain properly why certain things work and why certain things don't unlike any language site you may find!

I love to teach and I love to be friendly, so don't hold back when asking questions. I am open to even the silliest of inquiries-- everything is valid when learning! Feel free to message me about any concerns you may have. Let's speak Japanese together!

She provided detailed instruction on how to communicate more clearly and efficiently, and I've seen a huge improvement in my speaking and comprehension in just a few lessons! I could not recommend a teacher more than I recommend Allison for your next lesson. She makes learning fun again!

Hey guys !! Whether you are a lover of Anime, Jpop or need to know Japanese for business or just to show your friends , you have reached the right person !! :) I have 15 years of experience when it comes to the Japanese Language. And I absolutely love it !! I can proudly say that I am proficient in the language. I can speak fluently , understand and write fluently in Furigana (Hiragana and Katakana) I've learned from courses, friends, programs, music, immersion, books etc, you name it I've done it and has had major success. I will teach in a fun and interactive way and we will build up from the fundamentals of words to complete sentences. You WILL be proficient and comfortable in Japanese in no time !

About Anthony
I have 12 years experience in teaching Japanese as a tutor. Occupation wise I am a Electrical Engineer Major, Entrepreneur, Author, Motivational Coach and Language Enthusiast. I am a firm believer that we really can do anything we put our minds too. My main focus and purpose is to HELP and add VALUE to as many lives as possible. I am solely interested in the progression and success of the student. It is my duty for me to teach you as much information on the Language in the most comprehensive way possible.

I'm originally from Long Island City, New York. I had a teacher of Japanese descent and she always brought her culture to the classroom. I was 10 years old, and I used to ask her questions about the way she would dress and her mannerisms and she would tell me anything I wanted to know. The culture is where it began for me, but the lang
uage is what took me on a whole different level of mentality and understanding.

I began learning the language at the age of 12 from a Japanese friend. At age 14 I learned from online courses and music, it was so intriguing to me that I began self study. At age 17 is when my listening skills began to kick in. I was understanding not only music but some Anime, this is when it really got fun lol. At age 20, is when I reached advance speaking proficiency and was able to understand LIVE dialoge from Natives. I am now 27. I am excited to teach and speak fluent japanese to you guys so you can hear it in it's native form.

So Anthony why should I choose you to be my teacher?

#1 I am literate in Japanese, I speak proper and perfect English so you will understand me lol.

#2 I will talk to you in a relatable way, so you will not feel like you're in a boring lecture, Japanese is an exciting language, so you do not need to feel like you're preached to.

#3 I will make this fun and interactive, keeping you engaged from beginning to end, wanting to know more. Most importantly I will give you as much information in the time given, so you can leave knowing your money is well spent.

#4 Lastly I can teach you formal and informal Japanese. I will give you all the key components to the Japanese Language without the fluff. In most language instruction there are key things to know mixed with fluff. This is what makes students lose interest or get confused. There will be no fluff in my class, everything that I teach you will be a key component to your language learning success.

So what are you waiting for ? Your success starts here !! Let's do this !! :)

If you live in the United States, you’ve probably noticed that someone from New Jersey doesn’t speak the same way as someone from California. This is because of dialects, or forms of language developed and used in specific regions. These dialects differ not only in accent but in vocabulary, grammatical structure, and slang (from “y’all” in the South to “hella” in Northern California). The same is true in Japan. A majority of Japanese students are familiar with the type of Japanese spo
