Private Singing Teacher

I work with people in regard to singing lessons since 2004 in both academic settings and private face-to-face instructions. The lesson's plans and general direction that it takes during the course of study substantially depends on the student's interests and preferences. Along with main subjects that motivates students most in taking voice lessons ( such as learning new songs from the contemporary popular repertoire, for instance), I will offer my prospective students basic training in general musicianship; this would enable people to sing, read written music, and understand the very basics of music theory. With such advantages at their hands, my students will be able to expand their singing repertoire and to move, probably, to another styles of music for singing and enjoying it for the sake of people's personal aesthetical development.

Healthy singing is a multifaceted endeavor. It requires synergistic engagement not only between the vocal folds and vocal tract but also between the entirety of the body and the perceptive mind, regardless of genre or style. My teaching addresses and fuses each component of this pivotal trio comprising mind, body, and voice. The result will allow your instrument to find a newfound freedom of expression, progressively giving you the increased power and the agility to emote in a multitude of styles across the vocal spectrum.

Recognizing singing as a deeply individual experience, I am a fervent advocate of student empowerment. My job is to bestow you and guide you with the fundamental technical tools that you can then use to earn the gratification of becoming your own best teacher for whatever you desire to sing. Although I specialize in classical technique and employ it as a foundational anchor, my holistic approach is adaptable across the range of age, level, and style and can be ...

I’ve really enjoyed working with Max, and have often picked his brain because I know his knowledge of the voice is so valuable. He’s a vulnerable and wonderful performer and a personable teacher who goes out of his way to keep learning- I think that makes him the best teacher! I recommend him to anyone who has a chance to be his student or work with him.

Max is an absolute pleasure to work with and a front running professional in the voice pedagogy industry. His sensitivities from everything diction to vocal mechanics and body/mind awareness in singing helped me think of my voice in a whole new way. I have never met a voice teacher so able to communicate technical advice in plain speech. Each lesson I had firm take aways and felt I dramatically improved in the space of a month. Thanks Max!!

Max is one of the most passionate and knowledgeable vocal science pedagogues I know. As his colleague, I know his students will benefit from his detailed explanation in mastering a comprehensive understanding of the human voice. He is dedicated to his craft as a musician and as a teacher and I highly recommend him!

Singing:
I teach a World Famous Voice Method passed down to me by mentor the late, great Dante Pavone. Dante was born in Italy in 1910 to a famous Opera singing mother. He toured the whole world with her and they even sang with Caruso, the most famous Opera singer that ever lived. He was the first and a pioneer of popular singing. He taught everyone who was anybody including Aretha Franklin. One day there was a knock on his door and there were the Beatles! Dante would cure all wrecked voices and he cured mine, too. If you really want to learn the most solid breathing technique you will ever learn in your life you have come to the right place. I was told by one of Dante's students that singers from NY City Opera used to sneak up to Boston to study with Dante, because their teachers were ruining their voices and Dante would have to cure them. I am a rock singer, but this method works for any style or level. I can teach anyone to sing even the most tone deaf. Anyone can learn

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

This teacher misrepresented her ability to teach the C system chromatic button accordion. I don't believe that she has ever played one. I asked her before purchasing a set of classes if she knew this instrument and was competent to teach it, and she said she was.

She didn't have one, so she could never demonstrate anything I asked about. She didn't know the key layout. She didn't know the conventions for numbering fingers. She didn't know the basic home key scale pattern.

I waited until I'd finished four classes with my new teacher before writing this so I'd have a good basis for comparison. He is immensely better at teaching this than she was. It further convinced me that she never should have represented herself as competent to teach this particular instrument.

Private Singing Teacher

I have been teaching private lessons now for over two years. I specialize in teaching children and teens and am a student favorite at Take Lessons with a collection of wonderful reviews from students and their parents. I am a very thorough and patient teacher. However, I expect a MINIMUM of three days a week of practice from all of my students at a length of time equal to lesson length. Without adequate practice, the student cannot flourish in fine-tuning their skills and could ultimately end up disappointed. This is completely avoidable with diligent practice.
For my younger students (ages 6-11) I utilize the Little Singers series of text written by Gregory Blankenbehler. For ages 12 and up, I utilize The Contemporary Singer: Elements of Vocal Technique written by Anne Peckham, one of my most influential Berklee professors. In addition to these texts I incorporate the use of the Vaccai: the Practical Method of Italian Singing as well as many various traditional, jazz, pop, and r&b ...

She knows how to chose the perfect song for Alexis' voice and the emails that she sends after each session provide the proper tools for my daughter to carry out her 1 hour session to a full week. I am in my 40s and getting back into playing after taking lessons for a year 10 years ago and quitting (like most people). Madyson is very patient and tailors lessons to what her students are into. It has been a mix of both traditional lessons along with just helping me strum my favorite camp fire kind of music making the lessons engaging and allot of fun. Highly recommend for either kids or adults! I find I make myself practice for 10 minutes each night and then 10 minutes becomes 2 hours because I am having so much fun with it thanks to Madyson's great work!

I took very basic guitar lessons years ago and promptly forgot everything I learned. Madyson was so patient with me and has helped me relearn some of what I forgot years ago! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for lessons.

"Tanisha is an Amazing teacher.

What I love most about my lessons with Tanisha is the fact that she took time to really learn my voice. She did a great job at helping me find a range that was comfortable and exclusivey fit for me! The songs that she chose for me to sing were challenging yet very possible for me to learn. In addition she made sure that we sang song that were fit for the genre I aspire to master. Tanisha is a kind and truly caring teacher. She will also push you, she gives her all in teaching sessions and she will not take anything less from you! I would proudly recommend Tanisha to anyone that aspires to enhance there singing voice!"
