About Cameron
STUDYING WITH ME:

Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!

GENERAL BIOGRAPHY:

I h
ave been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.

I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I construct lessons for each individual student depending on their musical tastes, goals, and current skill level etc. I want each person to get as much from their time studying with me as possible. Within three to six months, I'll have you working on timing, theory, ear training, improv, and songs/styles of music you may be interested in. I'm laid back, however, I expect at least the minimum practice time between lessons, which I'll change throughout the course of our time together depending on your skill level etc. Practice materials I draw up are included. I write out everything in plain English and do not require the use of sheet music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Small recording studio, piano, various guitars, bass, and amps.

*** Travel Equipment ***
guitar, bass, laptop, digital recorder.

*** Specialties ***
I concentrate on ear training, improvisation, and explore styles ranging from pop, alternative, rock, prog, and blues, to metal, funk, and folk etc. I do not require sight reading skills for any level of student. Rather, I work with the student with theory and arrangement conventions to really understand the music. This intern, greatly sharpens their musical ear and helps them to learn music much faster because they understand how it is put together; why and how it works, etc.

***Teaching Special Needs***
I have experience teaching students who have been visually impaired,
blind, hearing impaired, or who have had mild learning disabilities. I
am also comfortable with a student bringing their service dog or
therapy dog to our lessons if they wish.

Cameron is an excellent teacher for me. I am 11 years old and have been playing for almost a year with him. He is patient and makes me stretch to be a better guitarist. He takes time to find songs at my level of learning and accommodates my tastes in music. I would recommend him for anyone who is interested in playing guitar.

A solid teacher with a lot of experience

Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.

Musical Background
My goal as a piano teacher is to help every student understand and learn to appreciate the language of Music. Every student is unique and therefore receives a personalized piano education. No two student learn exactly the same way. Therefore treating students as individuals is very important to me. With time students will discover what music means to them personally. Piano lessons are a lifetime investment and its rewards and benefits has the potential to enrich your life.

I am a classically trained pianist from Germany, where I acquired a Piano Teaching Certification as well as an Associates degree in the States. Thanks to my wonderful piano teacher who was both a concert pianist and music professor, I am now able to share my love for music with others. I teach individual lessons as well as group lessons and music
theory.

Before you start piano lessons, you will need to have a functioning piano and an honest desire to learn to play :)

If you want the best, then schedule a lesson with Angelika. I am an adult who wanted to learn more about piano but also in understanding music in general. So far, I have learned many techniques that make quite a difference in the way a piece sounds and in how much enjoyment I (and anyone who may be listening!) get from playing it. Angelika explains things very well and has the patience sometimes needed when learning something new…or in becoming better at it. Go ahead, do it for yourself (or those you love). You will not be disappointed!

About Grant
Hello!

My name is Grant and I’ve been helping students grow for over 11 years now! How time flies! I started playing music at the age of 9 and have been in love with it ever since, staying active in my local music scene as an instructor, performer, manager, and booking agent.

I pride myself in taking a students learning needs and using that as my basis for their specific lesson plan, always on a case-by-case basis, tailored to each individual student. Everyone is at a different waypoint on their path so why would I use a predetermined formula to try and help them, am I right?

This can mean using a specific song as a goal and learning the specific techniques that we need in order to learn it as our curriculum. This could also mean finding out if a visual approach to teaching is better than an auditory one. I like to think of thes
e things for my students to make their learning as easy and effective as possible.

In addition to freelance work, (weddings, jazz brunch gigs, etc.) I am the lead guitarist for the Funk/R&B band Water Seed and the soul project RetroFit. I attended Indiana University for jazz guitar and have studied under jazz greats Dan Miller, Corey Christiansen, and Oteil Burbridge.

I teach all kinds of stringed instruments from guitar and bass to mandolin and banjo! If you have any questions about my teaching methods, skill level in a certain discipline, or anything you can think of I would be more than happy to answer you!

Musically yours,
Grant

About Myra
Born and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Ms. MacLeod has been immersed in music her entire life. At the age of five, she began her musical studies at the South End Music Center. In the 1970's, she began her performance career in the richly creative Cambridge-Boston folk scene. She has performed at weddings, festivals, regional coffee houses, contra dances, and local restaurants, as a solo musician as well as a member of groups such as "Blackstone Cúil," "Riverbend," "Frosty Morn," and "Patchwork."I bring a fusion of styles and techniques to my coaching.

I incorporate the most useful classical practices from traditional European, Suzuki, Bornoff method (Foundation for the Advancement of String Teaching), and guidelines from ASTA (American String Teachers Association) to give my students a solid base of correct posture, full tone,
and confidence with the instrument.

I am an adult beginner fiddle player. I appreciated Myra’s flexibility in scheduling allowing lessons to be most effective .Myra has a wonderful ability to assess and make recommendations to improve performance. Each lesson comes with a summary of topics covered and techniques to be practiced at home. Lessons were flexible and focused on the things I wanted to learn at the same time providing opportunities to stretch into other areas as well. Myra loves fiddle and her love of the instrument is contagious to all her students.

About Zak
I graduated with a BS in music from Skidmore College in 2002 and have been making my living as a professional musician ever since by touring internationally as a performer, making studio records, composing for film and television, and teaching. I am primarily a guitar player and a songwriter. I grew up playing drums and studied them well into college. I'm deeply influenced by the blues and country music, but I love anything that's good! I studied jazz and composition in school with a focus on improvisation. I wouldn't be half the musician I am today without the help of a few wonderful teachers. I think of them when I teach and do my best to inspire my students with the same joy and support that was offered to me.

I took guitar lessons with Zak for about 4 years and it was a great experience! I would pick a song to play, and as I learned the song he would teach me the scales that go with it. So I would learn the song and the music theory behind it, super cool. I also learned how to read sheet music from Zak. I enjoyed taking lessons from him!
