ABOUT ME: I’m a drum teacher and artist who resides and has a studio space in Northborough, MA. I primarily teach at my studio, but will also travel to your home or have lessons via Skype or FaceTime. I have been playing drums since I was 6. I first started teaching in 2000. I could never fathom my life being void of this connection and want to pass on this healthy bond to others.

The diversity and abilities of my current and former students speak to my innate ability to connect, efficiently and effectively, and to teach. If you asked each of them independently, they share this common answer: they come away with a solid understanding of rhythm and the role of the drummer in a band, as an accompanying instrument, as a sound-base for meditation, as well as a holding the firm knowledge of the techniques and attitudes that make for excellent musicianship.

My goal for each of my students is that they become the best drummer that lives in them, one they have yet to meet. I want to get

Aaron knows how to work with kids. After 30 minutes my 6 yo came out confident and ready to play!! He doesn’t realize that he still is terrible because he at least knows one chord!! Lol!

The things students would expect from me in a lesson would be the concept of keeping time with a metronome. Playing grooves that the student enjoys to hear. Using rudiments which would build creativity in the students playing. Exercises that building the strength of the student's wrist . The basic concepts of reading sheet music . And mainly to have fun playing over songs the student loves listening to.

I just recently started with Dee. She is doing a great job of helping me realistically assess my performance, and constructively set goals to improve the aspects that need work. It's been fun and very helpful.

Our 8 year old son had his first Guitar lesson with Dee this past weekend, and she was amazing. She wasted no time getting down to brass tacks with our son, showing him the various parts of the guitar, how to hold it and within minutes he knew two chords. She was able to keep our kiddo engaged, offered great praise and positive feedback/reinforcement and kept him on task for the entire 45 minute lesson. We could not be happier and cannot wait to see what he learns during his next lessons with her!

"We decided to get our son involved in something that doesn't require a gaming controller and he chose drums. We picked Tom out of the gate and I told my son that if he didn't mesh with him that we could find another instructor. After my son got over his initial shyness and intimidation, he warmed up to Tom and now looks forward to his lesson days. Tom ALWAYS is encouraging and supportive which has helped build my son's confidence and stoke his passion for something other than XBox. He has been flexible with us when needed. I would highly recommend Tom as an instructor."

If you fail, he fails, and when you succeed he does as well. He goes above & beyond expectations & I would trust that he is the best instructor you would ever be so grateful to learn from!"

* the importance of practice
This has all be done with a great sense of humor and a genuine love for drumming. I would highly recommend him!"

"My 8 year old son loves to take drum lessons with Kismat. He is an excellent teacher and has a way with young students. He is very patient and can establish a good relationship with his students. Kismat is extremely proficient in music theory, and makes sure my kid gets all the basics first. But at the same time he keeps his lessons fun with jam sessions to my sons favorite songs. Kismat is a very motivated teacher, and will even do online lessons when schedule and snow days are an issue. I would HIGHLY recommend Kismat as a music teacher.

And by the way, have you seen Kismat performing live?! Oh man! Definitely catch his gigs around town. He will knock your socks off."

Some of the things that can contribute to how much you'll end up paying for beginning drum lessons are where you're receiving the lessons, what city you're in, and the experience level of your teacher.
