Melrose Music Lessons for Teens

After Teaching voice for the past few years it's clear that one thing is universal no matter what kind of singer you are: It takes an impressive amount of courage and self awareness to be heard through song. The Voice is one of the highest form of emotional expression, taking the whole body; as the whole body is the instrument. In these lessons we will focus on breath, bring attention to tension, support, and placement of the voice. Giving you the freedom to be heard. I will tailor the lessons to your capabilities and personal taste while giving you all the tools you need to progress and enjoy the instrument.
Through specific exercises and playing along with your favorite music, you will connect to the drums and learn all about music.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced student aiming at becoming a pro, I will help you get there.

My personal pedagogy is a combination of the basic technical and theoretical aspects of the instrument and what music the student is interested. It is paramount that students of all levels are learning their instrument through performing their favorite music. All necessary technical exercises can be adapted to a specific genre of music. I have many resources and a vast library of literature available for my lessons that I have compiled through my years at Berklee studying with the world's greatest bassists and theorists.

My main goal in every lesson is to be as time efficient as possible. We start with introducing new warm up exercises or new approaches to playing the instrument with confidence and facility. This is important for students of all levels so we can learn the correct ways to execute our favorite music in the most efficient way possible. I Whether you have just purchased your first guitar or have been playing for years, my lessons will help you achieve your musical goals. With over 10 years of playing experience under my belt as well as a degree in Music Performance, I am qualified to teach both electric and acoustic guitar. I construct personalized lessons so that each individual can learn at their own pace and comfort while still being able to enjoy a student oriented session.

I have played music for over 25 years. I studied at California State University, Northridge, where I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in performance. I have been tutoring for over ten years, teaching students of all ages and levels. It is important to me that I get to know my students on a personal level, so I can cater lessons to their individual goals/learning styles. Auditioning can be tough - one of the best things you can do for yourself is play for as many people as possible. Let me be your mock adjudicator, and we will work through ways to ease nerves and play your best!
