I trained for three years in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and can help you learn a system for training your own ear to hear accents, regionalisms, dialects and then feel, in your physical body, how to make shifts in how you speak and thereby how you sound. The work is not just academic, but physical, experiential and straightforward. It is enjoyable and empowering and something you will be able to easily practice on your own and apply in the day to day for quick results. I look forward to working with you!
I hold an MFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts and have been teaching professionally for over ten years. I teach Acting and Auditiong to young actors (10-18 years) and I also teach Public Speaking, Voice/Speech and Accent Reduction to those looking to find more ease and power when using their voice in front of others. I have taught, directed and coached young actors who have gone on to work professionally in Film, TV and Theater and my students have been accepted to renowned conservatories and universities across the country (NYU Tisch, California Institute of the Arts, AMDA and others). I am a passionate teacher who believes in the individual and in unlocking the creative genius, the impulses, the imagination and the unique forms of expression within each of my students. In my sessions, I encourage my students to
“play” and to discover how to both lean in and tap in to what is there and then develop relaxation, ease and focus on the task at hand - a monologue, an audition, a speech or working with a text. In addition to teaching and coaching actors, I have worked extensively in the corporate worlds in areas of Voice, Speech and Presentation as a coach and have taught group classes on Public Speaking and Presentation. I have taught and coached students from China, Russia, Taiwan, Italy, Japan in addition to the U.S. Throughout the ten plus years that I have been teaching, I have helped both actors and non-actors, those in the professional business world, gain tools that lead to freedom and ease of expression when speaking in front of others, be it at an audition, an interview, giving a presentation to a board or speaking in front of thousands at a Ted Talk.
Claire is a professional. She is a natural born teacher who immediately clicked with my son. She gave him the tools he needed for an upcoming audition at a theatre conservatory. Anyone from beginner to dedicated professional would benefit from private lessons with her. We feel very lucky we found her with so many less qualified people out there.
Improve your clarity in English. Lessons and exercises will increase your knowledge of English diction and pronunciation. Speaking more clearly, being comprehended by colleagues, and developing vocal projection.
Dr. Bryan Pollock, countertenor, completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts (Voice Performance) at Boston University where he taught private voice and class voice for three years in addition to holding his own voice studio. In 2010 he received his Bachelors in Music from East Carolina University in vocal performance. He received vocal instruction from Dr. Lynn Eustis, Dr. Darryl Taylor, Dr. Louise Toppin, and John Kramar. His piano instructors were Dr. Keiko Sekino and Rebecca Miller. He has performed in over twenty fully-staged operatic productions and five fully-staged musical theatre productions.
Dr. Pollock has travelled extensively during his career throughout the U.S. as well as England, Austria, Italy
, Turkey, Canada, and the Czech Republic. He has a firm knowledge of German, Italian, and French vocal repertory, diction, and languages while specialising in English diction for the non-native speaker and/or singer.
During his time in Orange County, CA, he held his own music studio. While there he taught over thirty students (Ages 5-45+) voice and piano privately. Additionally, he taught as a TA for UC Irvine int he subjects of Music Theory, Voice Performance, and an introductory music course for non-majors.
Bryan is a great instructor and seriously knows what he's teaching. I would recommend him to anyone looking for voice lessons!

I've been teaching ESL for over 20 years to adult students from around the world with different accent reduction needs. Lesson will focus on student needs. A brief assessment will be done. Focus will be on specific pronunciation exercises, and placement of tongue. I really enjoy working with International students of all ages and experience levels and I look forward to meeting you and helping you reduce your accent.
I have over 20 years experience teaching adult ESL students from all over the world in the Community College, Continuing Education, private schools, and privately in San Diego and Los Angeles.
I enjoy traveling and seeing new cultures. I've traveled to Ukraine, India, Thailand, the Caribbean, Europe, and lived in France for 15 months.
I'm married and have one daughter. I also enjoy eating, cooking other cultural foods, fitness, and the beach!
I look forward to meeting and helping you improve your English conversation. I will adjust lessons to your individual needs and goals. I welcome feedback on exactly what areas you would like to improve your English.
I can help you adapt your accent or dialect for an acting role or for business/professional purposes. “Accent reduction” is sort of a misnomer because what we’re really doing is learning a different accent; we all have accents. I can help you code-switch between your habitual dialect and one that you feel is more suitable for your situation.
I am an actor, speech & dialect coach, and acting teacher. I had steady freelance teaching and coaching jobs for 3 years in NYC, as well as steady acting work in NYC and Chicago theatre for 5 years total.
I moved to LA from Cambridge, MA, where I earned my Master's in Acting from the American Repertory Theater Institute at Harvard. I am certified in unarmed stage combat as well. I am still an active performer in improv, film and TV.
I have coached privately and for theatre productions ranging from world-premieres to revivals of Pinter plays to musicals. I love working with actors of all experience levels!
She is great, just great. 1st course yet she immediately helped me understand what were the real issues and how to tackle them. Now I feel confident to pass in front of an audience, because I know I will be heard and I will be understood!

I had to learn an Irish dialect for a big audition I was called in for last minute. My friend suggested Erin to help with dialect coaching and audition coaching, and man, I'm so grateful. With Erin's training and expertise, I was able to learn the Irish dialect in an hour and nailed the audition! She has experience with multiple acting and audition techniques...she's able to speak multiple acting "languages". If you're looking for any audition coaching or dialect coaching, I definitely recommend Erin! She knows what she's doing!
May 14, 2018
I have worked with Erin on several occasions, because she is so wonderful at her job! She has helped me to prepare for numerous auditions, many of which have gone very well as a result. She is an incredible actor herself, and she uses her talent and expertise to help me be the best actor I can be. Finding my super objective in a monologue or scene, the different tactics, focus, awareness, groundedness... these are all things she has helped me to do to strengthen my own work. She is down to earth and open, which makes working with her really easy and comfortable. Performing my work in front of somebody else can be very difficult, because I often question what the viewer will think of me. Not only does Erin help me fight that fear, she helps me find the gratitude and joy in getting to perform. I highly recommend Erin as an acting coach! She’s fantastic!
This course is about how to learn to say difficult sounds in English quickly and to reduce your accent audibly. We will cover the most important phonics/sounds that my clients - from India, China, France, Russia, Brazil, Spain and so on - have the most problems with doing business in the US/Silicon Valley. You don't have to go through all the lectures, just pick the areas you feel you still have to work on and practice the words diligently. You will see the slides that go with the video and most of the time, I also uploaded additional practice materials. If you work on your English pronunciation consistently, you will see results really fast.
Who this course is for: You need to know some spoken American English already to benefit from the course. But, since this is an American English speaking course with lots of examples, if you practice a lot, you will be successful and will master American English.
We will cover all the phonic sounds of the English language
Tom has been teaching private lessons since 2006 and is currently available to teach lessons online. Foremost, Tom provides expertise, experience, and encouragement when he received his English Literature from Boston University, Arizona State University and the University of Phoenix in Arizona.
Tom's style is candid and are scheduled to best fit to the student's schedule when possible.
Its imperative that the student understands phonics as well as the seven parts of speech, i.e., nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections.
Currently, Tom works at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels as an adult education instructor providing English instruction to classes or individual students.
As an ESL teacher, developing curriculum for his students, he tak

- Pronunciation techniques - Quizzes, textbooks, videos and computer lessons - Basic communication with real-life interactions
Using language use in different situations, such as shopping, schooling, job hunting or working with English-speaking co workers.

The Pedagogical Foundations Of EnglishCentral
By David Deubelbeiss
EnglishCentral is a company that takes pride in having experienced teachers on staff and designing a product that will help students learn and acquire English, particularly for international communication.
Too often technology is designed without the control or voice of educators. Technology for technology's sake. We have tried to avoid this error and build an e-learning platform that puts pedagogy and learning first.
Here are the key aspects of English Central's pedagogy:
We live in a visual and digital world. Students consume enormous amounts of video content and video has become the new textbook. EnglishCentral harnesses this built in, intrinsic level of motivation - why not learn English while viewing videos you love? EnglishCentral publishes 30 new video lessons per week and its vast library of video lessons and courses offers every student the chance to study what they want and listen to messages they want to hear.
2. Comprehensible Input
Not only do students need to listen to messages they want to hear - these messages must be level appropriate (Krashen, 2001). Each EnglishCentral video lesson or course plus our vocabulary is leveled and can be assigned to students based on their level of English. This provides appropriate practice maximizing language acquisition.
3. Precise, Timely Feedback
EnglishCentral provides instant feedback to students. Students begin to "notice the gap" (Schmidt, 1990) and begin to self-correct as they compare their speech to the original. Tools are provided so students can "dig down" and understand the language and get the answers they need immediately. EnglishCentral works to promote learner autonomy.
4. Lowered Affective Filter
Many students go through a substantial "silent period" (Krashen, 1985). Others need the time and space given through self-study before they are ready to excel in the very socially demanding classroom. EnglishCentral provides a safe, low anxiety environment where learners can proceed at their own pace and practice speaking in a non-threatening place. Teachers are often amazed how the quiet students in their class "bloom" on EnglishCentral.
5. An Oral Language Focus
The 21st century workplace and global nature of communication demands that students have strong speaking skills. The importance of written communication is receding. EnglishCentral's proprietary speech recognition system IntelliSpeech™ trains students to produce, clear, intelligible speech for effective communication across cultures and borders.
6. Blended Learning
The future of education lies in blended learning (Arne Duncan, 2014). EnglishCentral partners with schools and teachers offering a unique blended learning model and platform. Courses and video lessons can perfectly compliment what students learn in class, providing students with extra practice matching the class curriculum. Our free LMS lets teachers extend the curriculum and track student achievement.
7. Structured Learning
Our simple Watch | Learn | Speak methodology provides low cognitive overload and an easy to follow learning pathway. Courses and video lessons are leveled and vocabulary is presented with spaced-time repetition. EnglishCentral monitors every word or expression students study and provides a simple interface where students can use the feedback to improve their pronunciation and build their vocabulary.
Students are highly engaged by the gaming dynamics of EnglishCentral. Students compete for XPs (Experience Points) and ranking through their study. However, we don't go overboard and aim to keep the focus on the learning, not the gaming.
9. Ambiguity Tolerance
Language is a vast and unpredictable space. Successful language learners are risk takers. Critical to being a risk taker is having a strong ability to not be stressed out by what you don't understand (Brown, 2007). EnglishCentral provides authentic content that challenges students to focus on the general meaning and gist and strengthen their level of ambiguity tolerance.
If English is not your first language, or if you have a regional accent that you feel is keeping you from reaching your goals, then Accent Reduction coaching may be for you. I can help you to soften your accent to blend in to your community of choice more easily by providing exercises, practice techniques, and memory mnemonics that will help you find the voice you want to use.

Hello! Thanks for visiting my Takelessons profile. Let me start off by telling you a bit about myself: I have been performing for over 25 years as a musician, acting since I was a small boy, and working consistently with public speaking, accent reduction and other presentational skills throughout my career. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many incredible opportunities from touring the world to performing in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most respected artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance skills through acting in various plays, musicals, television, and film.
Performing has absolutely b
een my salvation! Throughout my life it has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might help them to find the same joy. After more than 10 years of teaching, I have so many new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I spent nearly 10 years performing with Disney in California and abroad in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that those experiences, vast and varied as they are, have given the word "performance" a depth that I couldn't have imagined. Those experiences have made me excited to dive into every lesson with fresh ideas that will mesh well with many tried and tested teaching techniques.
Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm proud to have expanded my studio to serving clients all over the world with online lessons via Skype and FaceTime! I get such joy from sharing my experiences with a diverse group of people from so many walks of life. If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!
For Students of Voice: Teaching Style
Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person. To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.
"UNLEASH THE POWER OF YOUR SPEAKING VOICE" My intense accent reduction personal voice/speech makeover lessons will help reduce accents, and improve weak, thin or harsh, irritating voices. If you drop consonants, mumble, do not correctly open your jaw to make proper sounds, or fear speaking in public, I will teach you the solutions.
Speakers of other languages will learn the use of proper American diction, enunciation and pronunciation of all words. Clear, clean accents are the goal, so that you are clearly understood by all, and speak with renewed confidence...without fear. .
Study is easy. I will forward to you, in advance, each lesson via email that we will work on for each session. Then, we'll meet with my live interactive lessons that let us view each other in real time. That means instant teacher/student feedback and quick vocal improvement.

I have really enjoyed Zelda’s class!! She is brilliant on what she does.

Zelda is a fantastic singing teacher. I felt a good vibe when I read her bio. I started out doing a half hour lessons and changed it to hour long lessons on the first lesson. She has helped me advance in my skills. She makes it relaxing, right off the bat, when you walk in and she offer's you tea. She is very patient and helpful. I've taken five lessons and signed up for five more.
"I can not say he is the best instructor cause I didn't try another one. But certainly he is great. He is knowledgeable, articulate, his instruction is cle
ar and have a very nice personality make his course interesting."
"Karen is very helpful, she is an amazing instructor."
"Sara Ann is amazing! I absolutely loved the lessons with her. She is definitely an expert. Not only she spotted all my bad habits with pronunciation and p
rovided exercises and training to get rid of them, but she also made every lesson fun.
I had 4 lessons with her so far, now waiting for my last one. She asked me to tell her what I would like from her for my last lesson... honestly, I want her to keep doing what she's been doing - nothing different. I don't think a teacher can get any better than her!
Thanks, Sara Ann!"
"Among the accent reduction teachers that I had before, Erol is the only one who actually could find the problems in my accent! The program he uses is very
useful. The way he explains things or exaggerates the mistakes will help me to correct my accent. Overall, an awesome experience and I would totally recommend him to anyone."
"Gabriel developed a proprietary method of accent reduction that makes it easy to focus on the areas that need change or improvement. The method, combined
with Gabriel’s passion for teaching, make the classes dynamic and productive. He quickly identified my problematic areas, and patiently worked with me on changes I needed to make to the way I pronounce certain sounds.
He also provides ample resources and direction for exercises in between the lessons to make the progress faster. I highly recommend Gabriel for accent reduction classes."
"She is amazing! Her diction and pronunciation are perfect. Anyone could learn from her."
"Micah is a very knowledgeable instructor and I had a great lesson with her"
"Really fun working with Adam. Loved my first lesson and I am looking forward to the next one!!!"
