I am an experienced French horn teacher of 5+ years, specializing in the elementary and intermediate levels of the instrument. I am currently enrolled at The Catholic University of America, earning an Artist Diploma in French Horn Performance. I grew up immersed in music, having a bass trombonist father recently retired from 25+ years in the U.S. Army Band. During my high school years I was a member of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras in the DC Metropolitan area. I was also a member of Brass of Peace, a scholarship program for gifted young musicians, which was directed by former hornist of the National Philharmonic, Sylvia Alimena. I made Virginia All-District and All-State bands several years in a row. I have personally studied with Phil Munds (former Baltimore Symphony Principal Horn), Kelly Satterwhite (current U.S. Army Concert Band Principal Horn), and currently study with Eric Moore (former U.S. Navy Band Principal Horn). In the spring of 2020, I made the semifinals ...

Majestic, Beautiful, Noble, Heroic. The horn is a unique instrument, and an instrument many people say is very difficult to play. However, even in the early stages of learning the instrument, it is important to think about expressing the wonderful qualities of the horn, while still learning the technical aspects of the instrument. Let us go forth and be better musicians.
About Jeffrey Zane
As an award-winning composer, whose music has been described as "what Renaissance composers would have written if they had heard gospel music," I enjoy being known for music that is both intellectually rigorous and pleasant to the ears. Amongst other things, I am also an active Horn Player and am a
