About Andy
Hi there! My name is Andy and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2002 and have loved helping my students to become good guitarists and musicians. I went to Berklee College of Music and earned a Bachelor of Music in 2002 (Magna Cum Laude).

I'm an open-minded and optimistic person. I have taught hundreds of students over the years and have developed a lot of my own teaching materials along the way. I'm very flexible in the way I teach and I always try to find out what type of learners my students are, so I can design a personalized practice plan for fast progress. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Andy was my guitar instructor for more than year. He is a master in theory and practice and is able to bring you to the highest levels. The breath of learning opportunities he offers in terms of techniques, styles, rhythms, songs etc is huge and allows for training and development in the desired areas at every possible level. And he can back up the lessons by the underlying music theory as needed. In practice, Andy quickly spots where issues lie and provides useful hints to overcome technical problems. In addition he offers useful material which helps when practicing at home.

I was a self-taught guitar player until i studied music at UMASS Lowell where i learned about reading music and theory. I can give a unique approach to teaching by utilizing aspects of ear training and note recognition. I also have much experience in improvisation from studying jazz and playing in an improvisational band where listening and reacting to one another are key. I also go through lesson books such as the Suzuki books up to the real book.

About Tyler
I am a very passionate music teacher, it's really who I am. I thrive off of opening the doors of music to people and teaching them a foundation upon which to grow. I graduated from UMASS Lowell with a Bachelors in Music Performance in 2014 and have 6 years of teaching experience in and around the Boston area. I play and manage a band called Skyfoot and have for about 3 years now. I have played in 35 different states, playing with all kinds of musicians across the United States. The times I spent playing and learning from the musicians at school and on the road have been some of the most insightful of my life.

Been meeting with Tyler for 4 lessons now and cannot give anything but the highest praise for him. Before we began we set the outline for what
I wanted to do and how he could help - the planning was good but the execution far exceeded anything I could hope for. His insight, technical ability, and highly positive attitude makes him the perfect partner to "re-introduce" me to the guitar (35+ year break in playing). Cons: initially opted for 1/2 hour lesson - too short. Pros: understands my goals, appreciates the musical genre that is important to me, great balance between teaching during the lesson and giving me things to work on on my own, very positive and encouraging attitude....and many more "pros". My suggestion is - if you are thinking of going with him give him a call - very easy to talk to and you will likely find out what I have found - Tyler is top notch!!

I have been teaching classical and electric guitar for about 9 years and I structure my lessons according to a student's goals, and objectives on the instrument. My students have been able to learn tunes by ear, and understand chord progressions and structures, and play with a pick or finger style!
I specialize in rock, metal, classical and jazz, and I can also teach extended range guitars and alternate tunings. Learn to shred, sweep, alternate pick and hybrid pick like no one's business!

About Poh Hock
Hi! My name is Poh Hock. I have been playing music for at least 20 years and I have been teaching the guitar for about 9 years now. I provide lessons at your home, my studio and online!

I have a very hands-on approach to teaching and I believe that students should have fun while learning. I also do not teach based on a book unless requested and my lessons are tailored according to a student's needs, personality and goals.

I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2013 with a degree in Music Performance and I am also a certified Yamaha Classical Guitar teacher. I currently play guitar with Metal Blade artist, Native Construct.

Poh Hock is a great teacher that really has a passion for playing and teaching guitar. His style of teaching is very precise and methodical. I learned a lot of songs taking lessons with him but more importantly Poh Hock taught me how to practice material that I was working on. The lessons were really more like guided practice sessions. While some teachers that I've had might just use the lesson to teach material and have me practice over the week, Poh Hock used lesson time to really drill sections and get them to sound good. I absolutely recommend Poh Hock as a teacher for anyone who seriously wants to improve their playing and their approach to music in general.

When I heard that the lead guitarist for one of my favorite bands, Native Construct, was offering lessons, I knew I had to give it a try. Having had only a year of experience beforehand, my skills were shaky to say the least. I've taken weekly .lessons for a few months and have seen a marked improvement in my fundamental skills. Not only does Poh Hock create a great learning environment, but he also creates a very relaxed one. If I didn't improve as much as he thought I should've over the course of a week, he didn't get on me about practicing more. Instead, he worked with me to determine where I was struggling and then would help me overcome it. I really can't recommend Poh Hock enough.

Experienced guitarist/composer specializing in beginner and intermediate guitar, theory, and composition lessons. Every student learns differently, so we will discuss your goals and then craft a lesson plan that will best help you to get where you want to be! Working through chord progressions and songs, learning how to play melodies, and gaining a better overall knowledge of the instrument are all key concepts which will be covered at the pace of the particular student. Please feel free to contact me if you're interested or have any questions!

About Aaron
I am a guitarist, percussionist, and composer originally from Maine and now based in the Boston area. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Southern Maine, where I also studied jazz guitar. I'm currently a graduate student at Longy School of Music, in Cambridge, MA.

I've played guitar since I was very young, and perform various musical styles in different settings. Throughout middle and high school, I performed in numerous rock, blues, and jazz groups. In my undergraduate and graduate career, I've played in the pit band for many musicals, as well as in contemporary classical ensembles.

As a composer, I have likewise written in a wide range of settings, spanning from rock and blues, to jazz, to new music chamber ensembles and orchestras.

I have been teaching students of varying ages for three years n
ow, from all different musical backgrounds and levels of proficiency. I primarily teach beginner-level students who are starting with a limited background on guitar, but have taught some who have no experience whatsoever, and similarly others who have a fair amount of experience but are simply looking to get better.

I look forward to meeting you and discussing your musical future!

I have 34 years of experience playing guitar and coaching musicians. I play by ear and have trained myself to be comfortable sitting in with almost any band. I like to work with guitarists who know the basics and who are looking to take their music to the next level. I teach about song dynamics, techniques for playing with other musicians, transposing on the fly, achieving desired tone, rhythm, lead, finger picking, strum patterns, tuning, pedalboard arrangements, multi-effects, equipment selection, etc. Proficient with acoustic guitar and electric guitar. I do NOT teach how to read music or formal theory. If you are a guitarist who wants to explore a more organic style with less structure, we will probably get on well. I am especially fond of blues, classic & southern rock and praise/worship. I've worked with many church musicians as well as many rock/blues musicians to enhance their skills and bring a much more full range of ability to the table. I can also help you ...

About Joshua
I am passionate about music as a natural expression of mood, emotion and meaning. My focus is on fluidity and flexibility for any jam session as well as understanding where we fit... at that moment... in the overall sound. I help musicians to step out of the box without overpowering other instruments and I am good at identifying areas that need work. I am not a hard-line teacher... if you want to learn riffs, we can do that. If want to play cover songs, I'll teach you. If you would like to explore composition, I can help you achieve the right atmosphere with your instrument and vocals. I can work with beginners or intermediate-level guitarists. I'm excited to see what we can accomplish!

The first lesson will be as much a conversation as an applied lesson, functioning as a way to get a sense of the student's interests, experience-level, and personality. I ask that for the first lesson, the student bring in a recording of something they'd like to learn in the near future - or, if they have a longer-term sense of what they'd like to do, two recordings, one of which they would like to learn in the near future, and another of which they'd like to work towards learning as a longer-term goal.

After the first lesson, I will break up lessons into warmups (stretches and fretboard exercises), the study of repertoire (learning melodies and chords), and the relevant technique (scales, picking approaches, etc) for which the music calls. Time spent discussing theory will likely emerge from the teaching of the song, but can be approached with a variable level of depth - students less interested in theory will still come away from a lesson with some awareness of what's making the ...

About Cole
Cole is a guitarist, composer, improvisor, and songwriter, whose work deals with topics of memory, process, natural imagery, and perceptual extremes (of activity, of density, and their absences). Earlier, he attended Oberlin College as a liberal arts student, where he took courses on jazz improvisation, South Indian rhythmic syllables, electronic music, mathematics, computer science, and environmental studies. As a performer, he has played in rock bands, jazz ensembles, free improvisation groups, and chamber groups. His teachers have included composers Stratis Minakakis and Anthony Coleman; guitarists Joe Morris, Bob Thompson, Vic Juris, Paul Bollenback, and Bob Ferrazza; and improvisors Hankus Netsky, Carla Kihlstedt, and Eden MacAdam Somer.
