We will work from the bottom up, starting with proper breathing and warm up exercises.
Scale work and technical drills are made fun through games and other means to keep things interesting :)
Repertoire work will be chosen according to experience level after basic assessment, we can work together to find something you enjoy playing.
Basic theory and music history will be addressed naturally as we work through new pieces!
I am more than happy to work on any other music you are currently playing for school or other ensembles.
Let's have fun and work hard!

Pedagogy is one of the few and rare professions that requires true vocation and conviction. I believe that teaching comes from sharing and I love to help each and every one of my students develop their own gift and understanding of music. This year marks the beginning of my 11th year of teaching and I am fascinated and humbled by everything that I have learned from all of my students!
Learning to play an instrument is a formative, fun and inclusive process for both teacher and student. I enjoy seeing my pupils progress and ultimately, finding their voice and telling their own story through music. My objective as a docent is to inspire students to develop high intrapersonal intelligence so that they may become their own best teacher.
It is my hope that my students will acquire tools that will not only help them become better musicians but that will also assist them in other areas of their lives.
The student will learn healthy ways of approaching the instrument. I guarantee the

Each lesson will consist of a unique and personalized curriculum to fit the student’s needs. This will be done at a pace that allows for confidence to be built and a complete understanding of the material. Each student is taught the basic skills of guitar so that they can become an independent and self-sufficient musician with a strong fundamental foundation. Crucial skills such as reading music, scales, various chords, and more will be taught in each lesson. Each lesson will be just as enjoyable as it is informative. After all, “pleasure in a job puts perfection in the work”. That is why I ask each Student to bring a song or piece that he/she enjoys working on. Overtime, all the skills learned will allow students to play with confidence!

Jason’s tenor voice has been heard on countless advertising campaigns and video games. He studied jazz voice under Marion Cowings at NYU
He was a founding member of the collegiate a cappella group, The University of Rochester Midnight Ramblers, and for several years, sang with Manhattan-based contemporary a cappella groups Invisible Men and Dobsonfly (heard in the film “The Rules of Attraction”).
A musician in his own right, he has studied percussion, piano, musicology, theory and composition, and maintains a collection of unusual instruments from his travels abroad.
About Jason
My teaching approach: I'll help you figure out your musical goals, and customize a lesson plan to get you there (ex: performance technique, music theory, music business coaching, musicology, exploring new musical genres, song selection and interpretation).

Wondering how to get over stage fright when singing? Or even just feeling comfortable with singing in front of a small group? Check out these helpful tips from North Hollywood, CA teacher Jackie B... As a lifelong musical theater performer — and owner of a big, brassy voice — I often hear people complain to me that “they wish they had talent” or lament the fact that they are “tone deaf” and therefore unable to enjoy singing.
