Simply put, Paulo is an outstanding instructor. He himself is so driven and is constantly working to improve his musicality, which directly translates to his excellent teaching! Learning with Paulo is a great step for younger musicians especially. He dedicates a lot of time and detail into ensuring the students are developing correct playing technique and aids them in exploring a variety of repertoire! Always great things coming from Paulo.

Paulo is a well rounded person who has a phenomenal passion for music and a gift for making friends and helping others. Paulo is energetic as well as patient and has a knack for personalizing the lessons to fit the students in order for them to grow musically.
The ideas that Paulo offers help the student break out of the “learning boredom” and think logically beyond what they are use to doing in a school program. Paulo is professional, punctual and experienced. He brings fresh, new ideas that are fun and that bring positive attention to the art of the violinist.
I would definitely recommend Paulo for any level of learning, and of any age. If you are in need of refresher lessons or your child is starting from scratch, Paulo undoubtedly can bring an exciting ease to learning the violin while teaching good, professional skills that have been proven a success.
Jasmine
So, Paulo was my first lessons teacher and I honestly couldn’t have asked for better. He taught me most of the basics and helped me create a strong foundation to improve upon: relaxed bow hand/arm, vibrato, positions, 3-octave scales, some sight reading, expressiveness. (sprinkle in some music theory) He taught all this while being patient and pushing me to be my best. 10 out of 10 would recommend for anyone who is considering.

Violin:
A wooden stringed instrument in the violin family; it is the smallest and highest-pitched. The violin typically has four strings tuned in perfect fifths, and is most commonly played by drawing a bow across its strings, though it can also be played by plucking the strings with the fingers (pizzicato). Violins are important instruments in a wide variety of musical genres. They are most prominent in the Western classical tradition and in many varieties of folk music. They are also frequently used in genres of folk including country music and bluegrass music and in jazz. Electric violins are used in some forms of rock music; further, the violin has come to be played in many non-Western music cultures, including Indian music and Iranian music. The violin is sometimes informally called a fiddle, particularly in Irish traditional music and bluegrass, but this nickname is also used regardless of the type of music played on it.
Lessons always start with the basics: Tuning, hand/bow

Karen is an incredibly skillful teacher. She is very passionate about music and it easy to be comfortable with her. She shares her training and knowledge very clearly. The vocal exercises seem very unique and holistic for body and voice health. She is very encouraging, caring, and soul-uplifting. I feel like I have a new connection with my voice and all that is connected to using it... as an instrument and the journey is only just starting. 45 minutes went by so fast. I am looking forward to my next lessons.

I thought I wanted to take viola lessons. Then I read her website and I realized that she might be able to help me get my voice back! I thought there was no hope ever. She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!

Students can expect a relaxed, fun, and encouraging atmosphere for learning. The violin can be an intimidating instrument- you will make a lot of unpleasant sounds before you start sounding great- and that's okay! I'll be there to guide you and help you reach your goals.

If you're already an experience player, you can expect me "workshopping" your technique. We will analyze your form, practice patterns, and playing style, to ensure that you are growing and improving from the moment we begin. I will push you to become the most expressive player that you can become, but at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What young students can expect:

- Preparing for entry into school orchestra
- Polishing up school orchestra repertoire
- Learning new material and scales
- Perfecting their technique
- Preparing for NYSSMA
- Preparing college audition tapes (I do have the ability to record these as well)
- Learning to play with confidence
- Learning vibrato

Very knowledgeable and experienced in not just playing the violin but teaching it as well.

At the age of 58 I decided to start taking violin lessons for 2 reasons, enjoyment of playing music and exercise my brain. I found Lucy K on the takelessons.com website and she was able to accommodate my request for lessons in my home on a Sunday. Starting from scratch, she taught me the fundamentals of playing and I have made some progress over the last 8 months. She is patient with me yet will push me along and at time bring me out of my comfort zone, which is good. She has the ability and training to teach students from early age to older adults like me. In addition, she also teaches piano, which my wife started lessons with Lucy K at the same time I started violin. She has my recommendation if you have interest in either violin or piano.

I'd love to teach your child Violin!! I'm a professional cellist, and have been for 30 years, but I also teach beginning to Intermediate Violin. My father was a prominent violinist, and my first instrument was violin. I teach kids and adults how to practice well, so that you make the most of your practice time between lessons. "Highly excellent teacher and personally the best private teacher I've had.

Julie is an amazing teacher who I had for about 5 years. I would never have to worry about her cancelling and she was always open to changes in availability on your side due to things coming up. She is an excellent teacher who has helped me greatly on the violin, helped me get started on the piano and has even helped me with auditions for my trumpet when asked about. She is a wonderful person who is extremely friendly to both students and parents and I can guarantee that you will learn and become a better musician by studying with her."

"I do not have ear for music nor have any prior knowledge on music. I was very skeptical so I was not really committed to it. But Anna understood my limitation and motivated me to see music in different way and now I love it. I have been taking classes with her now more than six months and hands down best Violin teacher. She is very patient, motivating, funny and most of all very talented and knows how to make music stick for non-musical people like me.
Thank you so much for introducing me to violin in a right way that now I like to play for playing."

"I am a returning student to the violin. Nikita is a musician who is passionate about what he does. I "studied" (more like, didn't practice) violin for 13 years when i was younger. I had a lot of bad habits. Nikita ensures that when you first start out that you start out with good habits and he emphasizes this by going slowly. My violin teacher growing up would always chide me about how I didn't have the right posture for holding the violin and bow, but I was never able to improve. Then, recently I had another violin teacher and I struggled to improve my form for over a month with him. Nikita? I improved immediately. He is a talented teacher and one you will enjoy having for both his passion and his ability to correct and improve your playing."

"My daughter took lessons with Geronimo for two years while he was pursuing his PhD at the University of Oklahoma. Geronimo is a great instructor. He is very clear, concise, and effective in communicating with kids during the lesson. It's very easy to follow and understand him even for younger kids. He uses every minute of each lesson in teaching, and truly cares about educating kids on musics. Geronimo emphasizes skills and techniques, which offered my daughter a solid foundation to move up (she has been attending Oklahoma Youth Orchestra for one year). Thank you, Geronimo for being a great instructor!"

"Great violin instructor!

I am a college student at Azusa Pacific University, and Kan was suggested to me by one of her colleagues. At the time, I had just declared a music minor and was preparing to audition for my school's Symphony Orchestra. In my first lesson with her, I could tell that she knew exactly what my level of violin playing and experience was and started building me up from there (when I began lessons with Kan, I had been playing violin for about 8 years). Thanks to Kan's instruction, I was able to achieve my goal of getting into my school's Symphony Orchestra! Everyone I know has definitely seen growth and improvement in my playing, including myself. Kan is very friendly, caring, and always wants to see her students improve! Even after she received her Master's degree at APU, she continued to come to APU to give me a lesson!"

How to Find the "Sweet Spot" On Your Violin

The violin can be a difficult instrument to master. Intonation is often challenging; unlike the guitar, there are no frets to guide the fingers, and even if all the notes are correct and in tune you're still left with the issue of tone. The purest and perfectly in-tune notes can still sound bad if they're played with poor tone. However, there are many methods and tricks to help your violin bowing, which can instantly improve your tone. 5 Points to Consider for Violin Bowing 1. Pre …
