Hello! My name is Allen and I've been playing guitar for 16 years, and teaching for the past 10. I've been performing and writing since the age of 16 with bands in many styles. I'm originally from Santa Maria, CA, and I obtained my knowledge of music theory, performance, and songwriting skills from taking private lessons in the central coast at a place called Coelho's Academy of Music. Our head instructor, Jerry Coelho, was a student of the late Howard Roberts and was one of the first graduating students to who helped to establish Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), currently known as The Musicians Institute. After dedicating 4 years of private lessons under Jerry and his other top instructors, my hard work payed off and I was given the opportunity take students of my own. For the following two years, I've managed to consistently teach
40 students per week. I decided to move forward and take my musical experience with me to San Diego, where I currently teach, write, record, and perform my music with others who have similar goals and aspirations. I love playing in as many bands as possible. The main one I play in is called Quel Bordel. Some of the bands I've played in have given me the opportunity to perform with local and big named artists such as D.J. Artistic, Gary Wilson of Stones Throw Records, The Aristocrats, Terry Bozzio, Alan Holdsworth, and Tony Levin. As a full time musician and performer, I'm typically out gigging anywhere from 2-5 a week. As a teacher, I'm here to help you with where you want to be with guitar. Whether it's rock, pop, funk, hip hop, reggae, jazz, blues, indie, folk, and country, I can help you with the technical and theoretical side of things.

*** Lesson Details ***
My goal- To get you to become better than me. I find myself as an easy going teacher, and can provide that push when I see students getting more engaged in their lessons. I typically teach out of two main books, and it's optional for students to have their own copy of my recommended method books. I emphasize heavy chord vocabulary and steady rhythm. I believe that in order to be a good lead player, you would have to be a great rhythm player. As we develop technique, you can expect me to incorporate theory as to maintain an even share of the HOW's and WHY's. Moreover, expect to DO something with our lessons. Repetition is the mother of learning, and sometimes it comes down to the idea of 'monkey see, monkey do' before we can have in depth conversations about the application of your lessons in real situations. To me, music is very creative. So I'm a big believer on improvisation with both chords and scales. I believe in practical application when learning the songs you want to learn. So every student will have a unique way of learning the fundamentals only necessary to their personal goals.

My daughter is very shy which is why she won't try new things very often. However, after her first lesson with Allen she was excited. She said he made the lesson very fun and made her very comfortable. She learned her first two chords and is eager to practice transitioning between the chords and is looking forward to her next lesson with Allen.

Baritone Daniel Collins has performed at Carnegie Hall and with the Metropolitan Opera chorus in New York City. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas and earned both his Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. Dr. Collins was a finalist in the Dallas and El Paso Opera Guild Competitions, the NATS Singer of the Year Competition, and the NATSAA National Competition. He has performed in opera, concerts, and recitals throughout the United States and as a soloist at some of the most prestigious churches and synagogues in New York City and Washington, D.C. Though my time as a student with Dr. Dan was short, it was very valuable. Even though the lessons were about singing, it helped me gain a general confidence in myself regarding posture, and using a loud voice. He has given a number of exercises to develop my breathing, vibrato, tone, and lower registers to use on my own. Dr. Dan is a great teacher who makes the atomsphere of the lessons very friendly and I would highly recommend him!

Cellist Ignacy Gaydamovich is an active soloist, recitalist, teacher, chamber musician, and a recording artist. His latest CD features cello works by Lukas Foss recorded for the first time in history. Gaydamovich regularly performs in Europe, Lebanon, Japan, and the United States and is a recipient of multiple awards from Austrian, American, and Polish institutions. In 2012 he gave the Albanian premiere of the Korngold Cello Concerto with the National Radio and Tv Orchestra of Albania in Tirana. As an advocate for new music, he gave the American premiere of Cellotronicum for cello and computer by Michal Talma-Sutt, commissioned and premiered a solo work by Alexander Barsov and appeared on a crossover CD Cosmospir. He is a founding member of the Atlas Piano Trio and the principal cellist of the Boston Chamber Orchestra. From upcoming enga
gements, Gaydamovich will perform Saint-Sanes Cello Concerto No. 1 with Manchester Symphony Orchestra in December of 2017. He collaborated with pianists Janusz Grzelazka, Judith Gordon, Vyacheslav Gryaznov, Jiayan Sun, Mohamed Shams, Cihan Yücel, and Rasa Vitkauskaite; with violinists Arkady Fomin, Fernando Vizcayno, and Gary Capozziello; as well as with cellists Jesus Castro-Balbi and Christopher Adkins.

A passionate teacher and organizer, Gaydamovich has been a frequent guest at the Conservatory Music in the Mountains in Durango, Colorado. He presented masterclasses at the first middle-east orchestra program in Beirut, as well as at festivals in Japan, Poland, Lithuania, and at several American colleges and schools. He served on the cello faculty at the Texas Christian University, Mount Holyoke College, and most recently held the Visiting Assistant Professor title at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, as well as organized the first Amherst Cello Camp in June of 2017 and is the director of Amherst Art Academy.

Gaydamovich was born into an artistic family and he spent his formative years in Poland studying piano, cello, and composition. There he also devoted his time as a music director of the Dzien Smierci Mozarta theater and produced a play for light and shadow after Britten's Suite No. 1. After winning several prizes at international competitions in Austria and Poland, he moved to the United States to continue his graduate studies. There his interests expanded to include conducting.

I had an eye opening experience taking lessons with mr. Gaydamovich. He is a fantastic teacher, who has an in depth knowledge and practical experience not only about the technique, but also about musicianship as a whole. As an incredibly well rounded and thoughtful coach, he has helped me overcome my hurdles in playing and guided me to become a better and more thoughtful musician as well as a human being.

About Kimberly
I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam and began formal violin lessons at the age of 9. I studied all genres including, fiddle, classical, musical theater and 20th century. I have continued to study violin since then and have performed in many orchestras and small groups, such as Honor Orchestra, the Paradise Symphony, the Yuba College Orchestra, Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Orchestra and more. I have been concert master and first stand in many of these. I have also soloed in many and have been the first violinist in quartets for countless weddings and other events. I have also played
in numerous pit orchestras for musicals.
I have been in choirs and soloing since I can remember. I have performed and soloed in choirs such as the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society, CSUS Chamber Choir, the CSUS Women's Choir and more. I have toured to Victoria, Montreal, Ottowa, Oregon and Washington. I have also been in opera productions such as The Magic Flute, Peleas and Melisande and Die Fledermaus (The Bat) with CSUS Opera. I am a recent recipient of the Saturday Club Scholarship, a prestigious award, and have won many competitions (some repeatedly) both vocally and with violin, such as the Tri-County Competition, Young Artist Competitions, and the California Soloist and Ensemble Competitions. Additionally, I have performed musical theater repertoire and have performed as lead in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Into the Woods. I have also soloed repeatedly with the Yuba College jazz band and at churches all around.
I have earned my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. I have my Associates Degrees in both Music and Early Childhood Education from Yuba College. Additionally, I have obtained my certificate of completion of training from Music Together, an organization which trains teachers to teach Basic Music Competence (both in tonality and meter), and am currently teaching this curriculum.
I have been teaching music privately for over ten years to all ages, genders and abilities. Additionally, I have taught ages 0-5 years in a preschool setting for 7 years and am extremely familiar with developmentally appropriate practices for both preschool and school age, as I am a site supervisor at a child development center with a preschool and after school program. I have had many adult students as well and encourage adults to enrich their lives with music at any age! I have been teaching since 2002 and have loved every minute of it! I teach all ages. I tailor my style of teaching to each student's goals and to what works for you. If you want to learn Taylor Swift music, I won't be giving you arias. On the other hand, if you wish to study classically, I have repertoire appropriate for you. I teach fiddle, classical, orchestral, 20th century and more for violin students and have experience with jazz, classical, musical theater, pop, religious, spiritual, choral, 20th century and more vocally.
For violin students, I use the Suzuki method as a pushing off point, a tried and true method used in many countries across the world, though I have other repertoire including fiddle, orchestra, small ensemble, solo, concertos, Christmas, and more. For vocalist, I start with the book, Adventures in Singing. I also have warm ups and exercises to keep you vocally healthy. I will teach you anything you want to learn! I also teach how to read music, theory and harmony, depending on your interest and tailored to your current skill level.
I am encouraging and knowledgeable. I will meet you at your current level, be that beginner, intermediate, or advanced. My students can look forward to being encouraged and growing through their time with me. I don't have preset ideas about where you should be in 3-6 months, nor do I have a one size fits all teaching style. Instead, I will work with you individually so that you will become the best musician you can be, meet your goals, and increase your enjoyment and appreciation for music.

I just finished our new band debut and I must say I got many compliments on my vocals and range. I must give 100% credit to the hard work Kimberly puts into every lesson with focused repetition and many great pointers on taking care of my voice. Her skills and expertise in singing and musical instruments (violin) are exceptional. If you want a teacher who puts heart and soul into every lesson for every student, Kimberly is the one. She's the best! My daughter started on violin with the school and then moved on to viola. Finding a viola teacher is no easy task! In fact, finding anything for the viola - music, strings, etc ... is difficult! But Kimberly does a great job and got her off to a wonderful start. We are so incredibly happy to have Kimberly teaching our daughter. Do not rely on your child's school to teach viola - go directly to Kimberly.

Hi, my name is Aidan. I'm a composer, performer, guitar instructor and band leader. I teach at my apartment in Cambridge and can drive within the Cambridge area.

I am a Hampshire College music program graduate who has taught students of various ages, skills, and music preferences. I play guitar in Freddy & the Yetis, a touring band out of New England and i'm currently living Cambridge this year to study with one of Berklee's most prominent professors. Ive played hundreds of gigs in my life.

My goal with students is to encourage both a love of music and the guitar as an instrument for personal expression. I want to see my students playing the music they enjoy as soon as possible. Aidan is a terrific teacher!! I played professionally over 35 years ago and have not played at all since. At this point I could not play ANYTHING. He took me back through the basics and got me thinking the way I did when I was in my teens. Clearly he has the technical aspect of both music and teaching down - but what made him a great teacher to me is his love of music and guitar. Reminded me of why I loved it in the first place. Although we didn't match up on style perfectly - he embraced the music that I loved and got me back up and running - could not give him a higher recommendation!!

Jeonghun Arron K. is a composer, arranger and singer.

He started his career in music by performing in many local bands and also working for game companies and movie OST in South Korea, after he got a degree in Music Composition and Education from Baekseok Arts University in Seoul in 2005. He found ‘Let Us Music Inc.’ and had worked as a studio engineer and a co-producer from 2003 to 2008.

He is a scholarship winner of Nyack College School of Music in NYC, where he studied music composition and singing. He performed as a choir member in many classical concerts; New York Philharmonic: PHILHARMONIC 360 at Park Avenue Armory, Requiem (Bradley Ellingboe) at Carnegie Hall and Nyack College Concert at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center.

His band 'Almost an Orchestra', released an EP album in 2012. The band arranged performed music for Oc

I have had one lesson with Mr. Arron and it is enough to tell that he is a great teacher. He clearly knows how to play guitar. He is both encouraging and firm. I teach music theory to students at all levels. As an instructor, my primary concern is that students acquire the skills and knowledge they need in order to reach their goals in this subject. My curriculum provides not only the necessary foundation for this, but also techniques and methods that will enable greater ease and facility.

The pace of my teaching is based on the student’s own comfort level. If he or she feels confident to proceed and has acquired the necessary skills, then a new topic can be introduced.

The one thing I do insist on is that the students do homework. I assign my own (very) short reading assignments and practice sheets, which are reviewed and discussed in lessons. While music theory is not difficult, I believe this extra work is necessary if the student is to become truly comfortable in the various topics.

I am always available for e-mail consultation during the week if you have any questions!

For the past two years I have taught over 30 students in both private and classroom settings. This has been a very rewarding and instructive experience for me! Not only have I learned a good deal more about these interesting subjects, but the growth and success of my students has been both gratifying and stimulating.

My priority in teaching is to focus on each student's specific needs. Everyone learns at a different pace and has different objectives, but whatever the goals of the student are, I can lead him or her through each topic or skill in a clear, understandable way.

In music theory, I have taught everything from th
e basics (key signatures, scales, chord types) to some of the most advanced topics in undergraduate and graduate musical studies (form, part-writing, counterpoint, advanced harmonic analysis, Schenkerian analysis). In ear training, I am very experienced in assisting the student in recognizing and notating everything from single chords to complex passages of music.

I believe that proficiency in both music theory and ear training benefits anyone interested in music, regardless of their musical goals or technical expertise. It leads to a better understanding of music and hence a greater enjoyment of it, and for the musician, an enhanced capacity to communicate expressively or to compose. And best of all, it’s fun!

Highly recommended! I took online and Skype lessons for about one year with Daniel. He is an excellent and very patient teacher. I am a pianist with no previous training in theory and ear training, but through his tutoring I was able to learn the basics of these subjects.

Kyle has given me contra bass, aka upright bass,weekly lessons from August 2015 through May 2016. I have never played a string instrument prior to this, although I do play piano and have played the flute, bagpipes, and piccolo over the years. I did not need education in reading music.

Kyle was able to take me from sounding like a lower octave version of Jack Benny (a mid-20th century comedian famous for his howlingly horrid violin playing) to a level where I know how to hold the instrument and the bow, the fingerings, bowing technique, and how to get a very respectable sound from the instrument.

He also installed the strings when I received the new instrument, found a manufacturing flaw in the bridge height that the manufacturer subsequently paid to repair, and diagnosed a resonance issue with the instrument that was corrected with a balance weight on the string below the bridge.

Music theory is the basis for all things musical. A student will learn the rules, but I will not force a student to be confined by the rules. Rather, a student will use these rules to their own advantage so that they may excel in real world situations and not just for a grade for a class.

I am a college student working towards my music education degree. Helping students achieve their musical goals has always been extremely important to me. When I teach I prefer to focus on expanding a Student's musical ability rather than focus on a specific piece, however if there is a piece a student wants to learn I will surely be very willing to help.
