Learning to read can be challenging in English. Our language, while beautiful, has as many unique characteristics as do our people! Since I have a secondary English minor, I've had long experience in reading, teaching and interacting with many levels of students.

Difficulty in reading can often be simply a translation problem. When that glitch is narrowed in on, and taken apart, the magic of words opens up!

About Marsha
The Recital was fabulous- thanks for all your work.

Goals: Since I am also a Life Coach, we really focus on how to accomplish our hopes and desires. We begin by weekly, then monthly and even a yearly goal.

Each week we also focus on something in my STUDENT PAL - mnemonic. Another is TECHNIQUE. Technique is the ability to have proper position, wrist-lifts and finger curve as well as Theoretic knowledge and application.

I started giving out lickable gold stars, you know, the old-fashioned kind? They are for those students who mark their lesson sheet and come prepared... They really seem to enjoy that, and I adore the nostalgia!

It is a great week when students are nearly all prepared and ready for their lessons. This makes both Coach and student more effective and the time together more enjoyable.

Perhaps you are reading
this with both a little excitement and a little concern. Finding the right person for your or your student can be intimidating. A short introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy which can assist you make an informed decision. If we are a good fit, lessons and learning progress more joyfully.

I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven. I have since taught the students of former students! How fun is that?

Music has blessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Teaching at the Young Artists Conservatory of Music; Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years has been a delight.

I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons, which we revisit monthly. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them/you to accomplish the goals set, working with music that delights and educates.

You want the best teacher, who offers information, example, practice and performance opportunities and then gets out of the way of the student's own "voice" (whether playing or singing) so that they can be free to create their own style.

*** Lesson Details ***
In our lessons, we work with a predictable schedule of balance. We have weekly exercises to make strong fingers and or voices, and technique and theory practice to hone skills that will improve our performances, whether they are for others or for our own benefit. Each student of piano can learn how to create and write their own music in time, choose their own pieces to work on, and have a say in their classical and performance goals.

We have a program of advancement, so you and your loved ones can visually see your progress and measure your skills, complete with awards and trophies.

What you learn, has everything to do with your commitment. Practice doesn't make perfect, Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect.

Learning the piano ought to be a JOY. I believe in playing the piano, not 'practicing' it. Enjoy what you do, and you'll do it longer and with celebration instead of duty.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano - upright; CD player; Music stands; Dozens of music books and lesson materials; flash cards; computer and music writing program; mic and mirror, syllabus.

*** Travel Equipment ***
No travel.

*** Specialties ***
Over the years I have dabbled in most methods, but finally come to use my own syllabus and musicianship. I can easily adapt to your favourite if that is your desire. I specialize in a total music education, not merely in learning notes. It is like looking in a mirror and only seeing eyes and skin. Music has many facets and we discover all of them.

Daniel was the perfect tutor for my son's prep for the GED. He was patient, prepared to help with test taking skills along with the actual content of the tests, and made himself available on a very short notice. In addition, Daniel is just a nice, respectful person that was a pleasure to interact with. I can not say enough. Highly recommend him!

I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in School Administration. I have been teaching in Arizona since 1997 and have held many different positions in many different grade levels. I am currently the Special Ed Director for the Canon Elementary District. I have many different styles and resources because no two students learn alike. I believe the key to a well rounded education is the ability to love reading and to do it well. When a student has confidence in his or her reading abilities, the other subjects take care of themselves. Thank you for your interest, and I look forward to speaking with you.

In a lesson, we may work on reading, listening, comprehension, writing, and conversation/speaking in the English language.

About Christien
Hi! I have a degree in Early Music Voice from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and have studied voice with private teachers intermittently over the past two decades.

I also have a Master's in Cello Performance, and can teach cello at the beginner to upper intermediate level. My experience in teaching is with modern (standard) cello, but I can also teach the basics of baroque cello (with gut strings and a baroque bow). Gut strings can be finicky, but their sound is warm and expressive. If you are interested to know more, just drop me a note! Another instrument I can teach is the Viola da Gamba, a very interesting early 6- or 7-string instrument with gut strings. (That's the instrument I'm holding in my profile picture!)
Aside from music, I have taught English as a Foreign and Second Language (in Bulgaria with Peace Corps,
in New Mexico with Berlitz, at the U. of New Mexico). I would be very pleased to help students of any age with reading, listening comprehension, and writing.

I've had a book published and have written for a multi-national newspaper. I also got A grades right up until I finished college with English Literature and Creative Writing. I also have done numerous public speaking engagements and have studied acting and theatre with A grades all the way through college.

My style of teaching is very relaxed and informal, I want students to feel they can be equals with me, and gain confidence and be proud of their work. I set homework but I also encourage students to get creative in their own time and to show initiative! Reading is vital to growing your knowledge and also for confidence and speaking in public.

Lessons can involve looking at literature and different styles of writing, as well as finding something that sparks the imagination and interest. I work especially well with young teens and pre-teens, as well as those who are looking to further their reading skills.

I also look at Shakespeare and modern plays, as well as screenplays, ...

I love Kimberley! She’s no longer just an instructor, she instantly became my friend. It’s so convenient for her to come to my home. Within weeks we saw major progress with my vocal training and I am able to sing at a high range. She personalizes the lessons to really cater to what needs strengthening. Experienced teacher in ESL, English, writing & comprehension, essay composition, and creative writing. Available to teach students of all experience levels and ages.

My ultimate goal will be to prepare you for the exciting journey of becoming a lifelong learner and where that knowledge will take you!

Lessons are ALWAYS structured to be engaging and impactful for my students.

After getting to know the student and their learning goals, I will tailor their learning benchmarks to be comfortably achieved for the student in a meaningful way.

I love working with students from all walks of life and can't wait to hear your story as well!

About Rachel
Rachel has taught private lessons since 2014 and is currently available to teach at your home, local coffee shops and libraries, as well as online. She has successfully helped ESL students learn English by customizing learning activities that are engaging, and stimulate student growth with ease, comfort, and fun.

She has taught for Denver Public School District as a Guest Teacher and volunteered with nonprofit groups as Reading Partners - in which she successfully helped struggling elementary students get on-track with their corresponding reading levels - and working as a camp counselor for underprivileged youth.

No matter what, Rachel always looks forward to helping students achieve their educational goals and objectives. Her teaching style consists of patience, dedication, and discipline.

Actively listening to her student's n
eeds is also an integral component to Rachel's teaching philosophy. Discovering what one student might need from a learning environment could be the polar opposite of the next student might require. (It's not to say that one is necessarily better or worse; it's more like although there are two different roads that a person could choose to take, both will nevertheless take you to your destination).

Listening closely to her students also helps with adapting and designing lessons to not only reflect individual learning styles and preferences, but to also set students up for achieving success and fulfilling their potential.

Rachel received her Bachelors in Communication from Northern Arizona University in 2008 and concluded her radio broadcast internship as Website Entertainment Editor upon graduating.

She went on to University of Phoenix, where she led communication endeavors as a project consultant for a knowledge base renovation and has since been tutoring and teaching for public and private education.

I've helped students who were below grade level achieve their grade level in reading comprehension. I identify the needs of learners and adapt course content and delivery style to meet the students needs. I prefer to use Expeditionary Learning which involves "learning by doing" and participating in a hands-on experience. Communicate with parent, teachers regarding students' progress.

About peggi
I have been tutoring elementary school students in reading comprehension & math for over 4 years one on one. I've helped students improve grades from failing to B's. I identify the needs of learners and adapt course content and delivery style to meet the students needs. Review materials assigned by the students' teachers and helped students complete homework. Communicated with parents, teachers regarding students' progress.

I like to use hands on learning. By 'doing' helps them to gain a better understanding of the material.

Learning can be fun! Don't let your child fall behind in learning.
