She is a GREAT teacher, very understandable with a BIG heart. This review was more than past due but here it is. If you are looking for a great music teacher, please STOP looking and contact her, you will not be disappointed!"
I had been teaching myself how to play guitar for a few years and felt like I was not making any progress, so I decided to take some lesson
Chuck is a very talented musician and teacher. He communicates and explains musical concepts in a way that's easy to understand. Lessons were challenging, but in a good way, and Chuck is always friendly and supportive. He gave me great recommendations for what to work on in practice and always had listening suggestions that reinforced what we were working on.
I wish that I had started taking lessons with him sooner, because I learned and improved more as a musician and guitarist in 2 months of lessons with Chuck than in the 2-3 years I had been teaching myself how to play. I can't recommend him enough, especially for beginners or someone who needs a little help to take the next step in their musical journey."
And they're not alone!

My teaching style is relaxed and supportive while always aiming to increase the knowledge of the student. My strong technical background combined with a deep sense for wide-ranging musical styles allows me to find what inspires a student initially, and use their interests and strengths to lead them to new discovery and technical efficiency.
Private study covers technical aspects of the instrument, including body awareness as well as reading, theory and musical expression and improvisation.
While each individual learns at a different pace, I strive to point out the progress my students have made because I find this recognition of achievement, no matter how small, is essential in a student's continued love of studying music.
*** Studio Equipment ***
lessons in dedicated music room with all instruments and equipment; upright piano, drum set and percussion.

I also have a Master's in Cello Performance, and can teach cello at the beginner to upper intermediate level. My experience in teaching is with modern (standard) cello, but I can also teach the basics of baroque cello (with gut strings and a baroque bow). Gut strings can be finicky, but their sound is warm and expressive. If you are interested to know more, just drop me a note! Another instrument I can teach is the Viola da Gamba, a very interesting early 6- or 7-string instrument with gut strings. (That's the instrument I'm holding in my profile picture!)
Aside from music, I have taught English as a Foreign and Second Language (in Bulgaria with Peace Corps,

From very early on in my time playing the flute, I pushed myself to compete festival auditions, competitions, and recitals. These experiences give me great insight for teaching younger students wishing to pursue flute competitively or more casually!
Over the course of my playing
My musical experiences make me well suited for teaching students of all ages to achieve individual goals. I loved the teaching I did as a part of the Eastman Community Music School and I love sharing all that I have learned with others! Being a very organized and structured person, I generally propose a steady practice regimen based on both long term goals and short term achievements! I also believe in letting students go at their own pace and constantly adjusting those milestones as required. I believe that the ultimate goal of any teacher is to give the student the means to teach themselves. This philosophy places great emphasis on practicing techniques to make students more self-aware and able to trust themselves in the practice room.
Thank you so much for reading and feel free to contact me with any questions!

My goal is to get the best from my students, with patience, care and humour, so that they become the best they can be as musicians and human beings! I'm a pretty eclectic artist and love to discover things with my student, regardless their age, level and background! All musics are sisters and it's always a pleasure to teach on one hand classical music and on the other hand, jazz harmony and improvisation as well as rock, pop, hip hop tunes!
