About Alex
Hey, my name is Alex. I'm a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards, voice, drums, flute, etc.), composer, performer, recording artist, arranger/orchestrator/transcriber, recording engineer/producer & music educator.

I graduated from the University of St. Thomas "Cum Laude" in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Performance, with minors in Music Production & Composition. While attending St. Thomas I served as the Music Theory tutor, as well as the live sound/stage/light/recording technician for student & faculty recitals.

I have been playing professionally & teaching for over a decade. My passion for music is something that I love to share with anyone else who feels inclined to make music. My goal is to share the skills & knowledge I've acquired throughout my experiences with those willing to learn & dedicate themselves
to the craft of making music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am experienced in most major genres of music: classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, folk, metal, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, instrumental rock, "shred," pop, world music, electronica, etc. & feel comfortable conveying the techniques, approaches & idioms to a student by breaking them down into digestible components, while making these new ideas relatable to material they are already familiar with.

In the end, I want the student to learn what they're most interested in learning. I'm here to answer any questions they may have & with my experiences, I feel confident that I will be able to either answer these questions or point them in the right direction. Some topics covered:

Scales/modes
Ear training
Instrument-specific techniques (ie bending, tapping, sweep picking, etc.)
Songwriting & Composition
Arranging & Orchestrating
Sight-reading
Improvisation
Chordal theory & how to read charts
Practice routines & approaches
Instrument maintenance
Instrument-based gear (guitars, amplifiers, effects, picks, slides, capos, etc.)

The student will learn at the pace they set for themselves & can only get out of it the amount of effort they put forth. I expect my students to practice on a regular basis (however brief each session may be). Consistency is key for progress to be made, & if they hold up their end of the bargain, the payoffs will be quite substantial!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Practice amplifier, tuner, music stand(s), guitar picks & cables.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide guitar neck paper. I expect the students to have their own instrument & any materials they may need to achieve the goals they've set for themselves (such as a weekly notebook).

*** Specialties ***
Progressive rock, classic rock, blues, jazz, funk, disco, classical, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, flamenco guitar; music theory, sight-reading, composition, songwriting, film scoring, music production.

I took beginner's guitar lessons with Alex. He took into account what my playing goals were, stylewise and whatnot. He's super knowledgeable on musical subjects besides just guitar. I've come away feeling that I have good foundational knowledge to build upon as I progress in my playing. I had the five lesson package, which I felt suited my needs. Tip: If you do something like that, space out your lessons at least every other week, so that you have time to practice and grasp what you're learning. Be sure to ask questions if something is new to you, especially if you're a beginner. I highly recommend guitar lessons from Alex!

About Sharon
Sharon T. is a professional singer, international recording artist and songwriter. She released her first single here in the US in 2003 and reached number 7 in the Tower Records’ chart. Her single “Tell Me” a dance version of the Philippines€™ legendary composer/producer Louie Ocampo's composition was released in Europe in 2004. This landed Sharon T gigs in London, Burgundy, France and Italy. Sharon T is currently with Kult Records, a New York based recording company and is soon to release her own composition “Don’t Tell Me”
under the same label. She is also in a joint venture with Dauman Music, Universal Music Group doing songwriting and musical arrangements.

Golden Pisces has helped aspiring singers sing with power and control and develop their confidence. Sharon T's lessons include physical exercises that develop the s
upport muscles, proper breathing techniques to control tone support, high voice techniques,
blending of the voice registers (splitting the voice into head tone and chest tone has ruined many voices) and stage attitude. Sharon T’s experience as a singer, performer, recording artist and producer allows her insights into the problems of singers. She also
helps her students in recording sessions.

Sharon T sang the National Anthem for the LA Lakers at the Staples recently and wowed the audience with the strength of her voice, according to Kobe one of the Best Renditions of National Anthem in the history of his Lakers Team. Sharon T. has GROUPS produced champions and finalists in several singing competitions. Some of our students were given major roles in school plays recognizing
their singing abilities. And now a group just got signed with YOUNG MONEY (Producer to Nicki Minaj , Drake , Tyga and many famous artists) and the group WTF – WE THE FUTURE is starting tour in July 2013 with Lil Wayne W3 The Future is currently touring back to back with Austin Mahone 2014. Lose your fear of singing high notes, develop your confidence, break your personal singing barriers, learn the proper singing techniques and sing with power. Sharon was absolutely fabulous and got my son prepared and confident for his auditions!! She was always on time, easy to reach and sincerely took a personal interest in preparing him to be successful in his immediate goals but also has given him the tools to continue to practice on his own and hone his skills. I would absolutely recommend her and she more than exceeded our expectations!!

About Joseph
I grew up in music, and started playing the piano when I was 6 years old, and began composing and using Logic Pro two years after that. I have been playing saxophone for 8 years, and am currently working to gain my bachelors degree in music performance from California State University, Fullerton. During my saxophone instruction I also began learning clarinet as a supplementary instrument, and have been playing it for 3 years. What I love about music the most, is how deep it resonates with the human soul and how the music stems from the passion of the composer and the performer.

I feel that my job as a teacher is to instill a sense of passion and love for music in my students, in addition to teaching them the instrument and the rudiments of music. I also am a strong believer that the best way to grow as a musician is to perform, to play
with other musicians, and to listen to as much music as one can get their hands on. My teaching style emphasizes deliberate and consistent practice schedules and a very broad and visceral understanding of music as a whole.

About Madison
I have studied music for 15 years and been teaching for 6 years. I have experience in teaching various skills such as voice, guitar, piano, ukulele, and many other instruments/skillsets to a wide range of ages and personalities. I studied Music Theory and Ear Training at Lone Star College in Tomball, TX and studied traditional and non-traditional voice for 12+ years prior. With guitar, piano and other instruments, I am partially, but not entirely, self-taught. I credit books, videos, and musicians that have given me secrets and tricks. I am fulfilled by witnessing growth in my students, and love the "Ah-HA!" moments. My approach is based on the student's learning patterns and interests, and tailor my lessons to each individual student. My main musical building blocks are 1)Rhythm is the most important element of music. 2)Understanding the
importance of persistence, practice, and patience with any skill and technique. 3)Energy can be manufactured and put it into musical expression.

Nikolai is the best teacher I've ever had. By far. Whether going on an audition, or prepping for a film/tv, Nikolai has given me the tools to be fully prepared and at my best. I'm able to listen, see, connect, react, and just be completely comfortable in my body while acting more than ever as a result of his teaching methods. No gimmicks, tricks, or shortcuts - you'll learn have to have full, genuine experiences in your acting. It's a wonderful thing.

This is really a thorough journey into the art and craft of acting at its best. It is engrained in one of the original contributors of acting Michael Chehkov with a contemporary interpretation. It is very difficult to find this kind of a real REAL nature of acting kind of class. True learning experience. It is so specific in its technique and due to the nature of the small class you are given full attention. I took so much away from this class, that will stay with me forever!
