About Anastasia

After Anastasia’s Carnegie Hall Debut in 2006, the New York Concert Review wrote: "For a critic, hearing a new pianist with a truly warm, luscious tone is like breathing in the scent of jasmine blooming - a pleasure to be recalled again and again - and so I'm happy to report that from the first not

As an adult beginner, I chose Anastasia for more personalized instruction, especially in technique, after learning the basics through community center group lessons. I have not continued only because another equally well-qualified instructor who lives close by, within walking distance, has become available. I am very pleased with the lessons and pointers that I have received. Anastasia is professional, encouraging, and friendly. An especially helpful part of her instruction is the set of comments and suggestions that she writes down to guide practice between lessons. If the neighbor instructor does not work out, I’ll be back.

I’ve had three lessons with Sophia so far and they’ve all been great! She is incredibly patient and always answers my questions. The pace of the class is perfect, I couldn’t recommend her enough!

Sofia was wonderful teacher. she was very punctual and my child liked her bright and fun personality. She taught piano very well considering young child’s age and providing relaxed and flexible method rather than traditional way with tension. We liked her but her schedule didn’t work with us so we had to let her go unfortunately.
P.S. Sofia, thank you for teaching my child her first piano lessons and we wish you the very best luck for your future~!
Yuchen/Annie
An accountable and professional teacher. First, the course set is rational. Sophia usually chooses appropriate pieces which match with the actual level of me. For example, the difficulty level is step by step, which makes me confident and very willing to have classes each time. In addition, she is also good at perceiving my lost points, and is patient to give me efficient direction on how to do better! Really hope more students can reach her out, and explore your own potential on music!

About Chase

I started playing guitar when I was in the 8th grade. At that time I was into punk, and as I got older I moved into listening to classic rock, then blues, then all sorts of jazz and jam bands, and now classical and sacred art. And my playing of the guitar has following the same trajectory: I play

Chase and I worked together doing online lessons for guitar for a number of months. Chase is an incredible instructor. He helped me understand how to analyze and replicate my music tastes in a super effective way. His teachings on improvisation definitely brought out the best in my playing. I would highly recommend learning from Chase, whether you are a beginner or expert.
Nichole Coyne
Chase and I did not work together long because of other commitments. However, in the short time we did work together I learned a lot. Chase is easy going, highly skilled, very patient, and his teaching style is such that it fosters student confidence. I was really nervous at first, because I wasn't sure what to expect. Chase quickly made me feel at ease during the lesson. We only had half hour lessons, but that was definitely enough time to learn new materiel and make progress. I highly recommend him for guitar lessons.

My son is 7 and really seems to like Chase. He came well prepared and finally someone has started to teach him some rock songs .

I teach music theory from an applied perspective; as a composer, I help my students learn theory through actually doing music. My students will learn to identify music theory in the music they already make, and will be challenged to compose music incorporating the music theory they learn.

In addition, I have specialized insight in the fundamentals of approaching music, and other art forms, cross-culturally, due to my studies and experiences with World Arts and Ethnomusicology. At more advanced levels this may include complex analysis of art forms avoiding labels like 'music' and 'dance' since it may not be possible to analyze an art form fully, without analyzing complex multi-modal features of these art forms.

About Jeffrey Zane

As an ethnomusicologist/world arts researcher and an award-winning composer whose music has been described as "what Renaissance composers would have written if they had heard gospel music," I enjoy being known for music that draws from many sources, is intellectually rigorous, and is pleasant to th

"Music Theory and Music Performance

Ms. Wilma's enthusiasm for life and music shines through in her instrumental playing and teaching style. She shows a strong proficiency in many music genres and can teach different kinds of musical instruments.

She's reliable, experienced, professional, and easy to be around. One of her main strengths is her ability to convey musical thoughts in a way that is meaningful, constructive and easily understood.
I really enjoyed how she have enriched my ability to think about musical concepts, discuss theories in music, and listen to different types of music."

Jim was patient, he analyzed how I played , what I knew and he tailored lessons around what I knew. That way I got the most out of my time and money spent. I can go on and on about Jimmy but for you sake I'll just say that I highly recommend him"

"I had the pleasure and honor of being one of his students in Mexico City while I was in music college. He's a very disciplined teacher (never missed a class) and he has complete dominion over the subjects he teaches. Roberto's not only an amazing guitarist but he has a unique way of teaching music theory and history that makes you quite familiar with the different approaches to music over the different ages. He also shows a legitimate interest over his students, he challenges then and even owns when he's pointed out mistakes by them. During my time as his student I also realized that he was quite respected by the other professors. Fair warning: he can be a little sarcastic but he means no offense whatsoever to his students and fellow musicians."
