Mastering fundamentals is extremely important when learning a language. I will tailor the lesson to your needs. We'll begin with mastering the sounds of each letter, then move on to common words, phrases, and simple conversations. Whether it's for travel, leisure, or work, practicing is key. Once you get your footing, we'll expand your vocabulary and understanding of grammar.

About Joy
I am a graduate of UC San Diego (bachelor of arts, sociology) and UCLA (master of public policy). As a child of immigrant parents, I value diversity and love learning languages. I read, write and speak Spanish fluently, and have intermediate command of both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese in reading, writing, and speech.

Photography has been one of my main areas of focus for over ten years. I am trained in both film and digital formats and specialize in demystifying the DSLR so that you gain a good understanding of manual settings and how to use each to improve your photos.

Caring, compassion, and understanding are essential for learning and I strive to do my best in these areas.

Esther is a great teacher and I highly recommend her, especially to those who want to improve their fluency and to those (like me) who are just too afraid to start speaking Spanish. Lessons with her are always fun and interesting, and she always knows how to explain everything in a simple and understandable way!

I started learning Spanish on an AFS trip to Montevideo, Uruguay in 1987. After taking 3 years of French in High School, I was given a Oxford pocket Spanish Guide by my host family and was indoctrinated into Spanish the old fashioned way- Immersion! Luckily, the verbs were similar and pronunciation was much easier than French. By the 2nd month I was dreaming in Spanish. I have tutored Spanish beginners with not experience, at the university level, and they have passed their classes with high marks (A). I have communicated with students and parents in my career as a teacher with the CCSD with clarity and confidence. Spanish is a wonderful language and I'd like to open up all of its possibilities for you, whether for business or pleasure. I'll even be able to help you with your accent. I'm looking forward to teaching you soon. John

I am a recent Boston College graduate who enjoyed learning the Spanish Language throughout my undergrad. At BC, I took courses ranging from elementary to advanced Spanish. I hope to make learning a new language exciting and to help you reach your goals, whether they be learning some new vocabulary or practicing various verb conjugations. I promise to make learning Spanish a fun, enriching, and engaging experience.

About Kayla
I am a recent Boston College graduate where I majored in Psychology. At Boston College, I was a Division I athlete and spent time a large portion of my time volunteering. I was a member of 4Boston, where I tutored children at a local elementary school. I also volunteered at a homeless shelter, where I lead structured activities for children.

I love art and find that even in the classroom, it can turn even the most mundane subjects into the most captivating. As an athlete, I understand the importance of hard work and commitment. I employed and continue to employ that philosophy in my daily life, as well as while teaching. I currently work as a child development specialist, where I lead group activities in a classroom setting.
