I’ve had three lessons with Sophia so far and they’ve all been great! She is incredibly patient and always answers my questions. The pace of the class is perfect, I couldn’t recommend her enough!

Sofia was wonderful teacher. she was very punctual and my child liked her bright and fun personality. She taught piano very well considering young child’s age and providing relaxed and flexible method rather than traditional way with tension. We liked her but her schedule didn’t work with us so we had to let her go unfortunately.
P.S. Sofia, thank you for teaching my child her first piano lessons and we wish you the very best luck for your future~!
Yuchen/Annie
An accountable and professional teacher. First, the course set is rational. Sophia usually chooses appropriate pieces which match with the actual level of me. For example, the difficulty level is step by step, which makes me confident and very willing to have classes each time. In addition, she is also good at perceiving my lost points, and is patient to give me efficient direction on how to do better! Really hope more students can reach her out, and explore your own potential on music!

My 5 year old takes classes with her. She is a very shy and anxious child. Ms Paniyeva has been very patient and accommodating. She can read and play in 5 months. I can’t believe her progress. I think we were very lucky to find her. My daughter calls her always Smiling.

I'm satisfied with the lessons I took, even though seven months of piano still not enough.

I learned a lot in seven months with Liana. I was pleased to have her, but I'm still slow. I think I need six months more in order to gain enough speed. Anyway, Liana is a good instructor to start with. She encourages and leaves you with no fear.

I feel very fortunate to have found Ivan, and have benefitted from his instruction in many ways. I began taking lessons with him at the age of 60, as an intermediate piano student. Ivan has a way of understanding your skill level and goals, and teaching you how best to practice on your own. His encyclopedic knowledge of classical music enriches the experience, but he is easily versatile enough to teach jazz theory as well. Ivan encourages performance at recital, and his students are always well prepared. He is an outstanding musician who frequently performs in public. Give yourself over to Ivan’s instruction and improve your technique, understanding of theory, sight reading, and knowledge of classical music. You will enjoy playing the piano more than ever.

If you are reading this review, of course, is because you are collecting information about great piano teachers in your area. If that’s the case, let me tell you that you should stop reading this review and contact Mr. Shapovalov without wasting any more time.

He just left our house, like any other Saturday afternoon for three years now, and every time he leaves, I have the same feeling of putting my son’s musical knowledge in the best hands (ever).

Our son passed this year the Certificate of Merit in Piano with a perfect score, and we thank 100% Mr. Shapovalov for such success.

Mr. Shapovalov is a great pianist, educated, polite, and kind. Our son loves him like he was family, and his performance just gets better and better. It is unbelievable how much he improved working with Mr. Shapovalov.

Mr. Shapovalov organizes recitals, workshops, and pre-tests in order to prepare his students for the Certificate of Merit test. He takes proud in his students’ success and works with our son using multiple approaches, all of them orientated to make the lesson fun and useful, totally aligned with the Certificate of Merit test expectations.

I feel bad it took so long to write a review about this fabulous teacher. I guess I didn’t want to share our “treasure” with anybody else! But seriously: if you are looking for a committed, professional musician, and stellar teacher, all in one person… contact Mr. Shapovalov. Enjoy.

I am DJ and sound producer. And i used to study Harmony and chord progressions with Ivan. He helped me to improve my theoretical and practical knowledge and teached me how to use classical musical theory in modern dance music. I really can recommned this teacher not only for beginners but also for advanced students who have lack of theory base.

Practical, efficient, patient, supportive. Matthew is able to assess quickly and keep things progressing forward while still highlighting fundamentals. Great for adults. Gentle for those on the lower end of confidence with an instrument.

Matt taught me for a 3 month period and helped me drastically with learning how to improvise guitar solos. I can't thank Matt enough for his help in helping me with a rather unorthodox time to start getting lessons. Each week he told me to bring 3 songs with a guitar solo I would like to learn in different genres and each week we broke down the solos for me to practice and gather their techniques. Thank you so much Matt!

"I appreciate the ways that you communicate with your students. You not only teach, share your skills, but also inspire your students. I don’t know too many piano students, especially kids who enjoy practicing. You distill in them the reasons for there endeavors and help them grow into a lover of music. Have fun and enjoyment in the process!!"

"My son has been taking lessons with Gabe for about 5 years. His calm encouragement has helped him flourish in his love for piano and music. The amount of theory, classical piano, and music that my son chooses has been the perfect combination to help him create what I expect to be a lifelong enjoyment of music. He has also worked for about 1 year with my 7 year old daughter and has more patience than anyone I have ever known. She has also enjoyed every one of her lessons. I would highly recommend Gabe for all ages and all learning styles."

"I received classical piano lessons from Dr. Backus for almost two years before college. In those two years, I grew so much in my playing and in my love for music. Dr. Backus has a deep passion for music and her students. In my lessons, Dr. Backus incorporated extensive knowledge about music history, theory and technique. Our goal was to build knowledge and technique so that I could freely create and make a beautiful sound with each piece. After taking lessons from her, I LOVE the piano. Dr. Backus taught me how to express music from my heart, and it was a privilege to learn from her and know her. I would highly recommend her for piano lessons!"

"We have come to know Niki as a very knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated teacher. My daughter was only 5 when she had her first piano lessons, and I was interested, most of all, in understanding whether her interest in music and the piano in a common room in our building was mature enough to begin music lessons - or not. Niki gave me a very knowledgeable assessment of my daughter's readiness to begin studying music, and then went on to give her piano lessons that were right for her level and age. She definitely developed my daughter's eagerness to learn more, and left her looking forward very much to her weekly piano class. We can wholeheartedly recommend Niki."

"We are very lucky to have Dr. Deborah as our piano teacher for our 12 year old. She is very nice, responsible, and an phenomenal pianist herself, and demonstrates during classes which is very important for young student as they intend to imitate. Her teaching for my child includes scales, basic techniques and classical music, enhanced by daily practice with at least 15 minutes on each section. My child's piano skill has been improving under Dr. Deborah's instruction. I sometimes can not tell by listening who is playing, if it is my 12 year old, or his 17 year old pianist brother."
