I started teaching oboe while finishing my bachelor's degree, and have found it to be incredibly rewarding. I love sharing my knowledge, helping my students advance and find even greater enjoyment playing. I feel very fortunate because as a regularly performing musician, I have the opportunity to immerse myself in many styles of music. Though it is incredibly important to learn the basics of oboe, and to become educated in the classics, expanding one's pallet with pop, jazz and world-music, for example, may also come into play.
During lessons we'll focus on technique building exercises, pieces from the standard oboe repertoire, and will often play duets together. If you are in school and would like to bring your band/orchestra music to lessons, feel free!
Since reeds are such an important part of being an oboe player, I teach reed adjustments for students playing at an intermediate level, and for advanced students, reed making from scratch.
My philosophy is that music is ...
About Alison
As a professional musician, I have played in various ensembles including orchestras, opera companies, wind ensembles, chamber groups, musicals and more. The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra (BCCO), presenting 3-5 concerts a year, has been my orchestral home since 2013 and I have had the privilege of playing principal oboe with them all throughout.
As a music educator I have years of experience teaching privately and in classrooms, for individuals and groups. I craft lessons to the needs and interests of each student, to ensure they are getting the most out of our time together. Many of my students enjoy, for example, video game and TV show music - so, these pieces are some of the repertoire we'll work on together. My goals as a teacher are to instill proper playing technique, guide how to

CloseMy goal is to help students forge a positive relationship with the oboe and the experience of making music. I've been playing for over 16 years with 8 years of intensive teaching experience and a master's degree in performance.
No two students are the same, so I operate according to each person's goals, whether they're learning for their own enjoyment or planning a career. I'm experienced in a plethora of genres, so whatever you want to do with the oboe, I have the skills, the time and the experience to help you make it happen.
About Daniel
I have been teaching the oboe for over eight years, both in a formal setting at a music camp and as a private instructor in Massachusetts. I will make the process of learning enjoyable and stress-free for any student at any age. Good reeds and the right technical approach are all it takes.
I have spare instruments available for students who want to give the instrument a try without a big commitment.

Hello!
I have my Bachelor's degree in Music from Rhode Island College, where I studied oboe and bassoon. I can make and adjust reeds, to best help my students produce a sound that they are happy with. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree at Longy School of Music, in Boston.
Lessons can be as relaxed or fast-paced as they need to be, I take a very individualized approach to meet the needs of each student's abilities. I love to give my students choices in their musical path- making music should be fun and enjoyable! Despite that, we still get to business when we have to.
Let's make some music together!
About Alyssa
I am a supportive and encouraging teacher willing to teach all ages and abilities. It is my firm belief that music is for everyone!

I studied Oboe Performance at Longy School of Music for a year before decidingto pursue education further (I love teaching too much!.) I am currently on the private lesson roster for two public schools in the area, and teach both double-reeded instruments. I have successfully helped young students prepare for and audition into district and all state level ensembles.
I have reed-making experience and can assist students with finicky reeds, to help ease the most frustrating part about pl

Lessons are focused around having fun while becoming a full rounded musician and stellar oboe player. In addition to gaining the fundamental skills necessary to master the art of the oboe, we cover everything from music theory to reeds and anything in between. All levels and ages are welcome. It is never too late to start!
About Zoe
I graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University with a Masters in Oboe Performance in 2016. I additionally hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance as well as a Teaching Certificate from the Peabody Conservatory. During my time at Peabody, I studied under Jane Marvine, English Horn of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
While studying at Peabody, my passion for music education was ignited and I really enjoyed exploring the development of my skills and resources both as a classroom and studio teacher. It is my personal mission to enrich students through music education while still having fun and learning to apply skills learned in music to other areas of life.
I am currently the Operations Manager with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Previously, I have held administrative positions with cultural organizations such as the Baltimore Choral Arts Society and the New York Philharmonic. I have been on both sides of the music industry and classroom, so I know what it takes to become a professional musician, and take a nuanced pedagogical approach to help each student achieve their goals in a way that suits them individually - no two students are the same! I believe each student should have a strong fundamental layer in technique and understanding of music theory, but should also focus on having fun while playing music, otherwise, what is the point?
Outside of oboe I enjoy hiking with my dog, painting, yoga, and Cuban food.
