I started studying classical piano at the age of 6 and continued through high school before going on to study with Robert Shannon at Oberlin Conservatory, where I majored in music history and theory (as well as English and creative writing - I've always had a lot of interests!). I also sang in choirs from a early age, including my high school's Madrigal Singers, the MMEA Northeast District Chorus, and the Oberlin College Choir, a select group which performs regularly with the Cleveland Orchestra. After graduation, I tried out a variety of musical activities, including singing with a semi-professional a Capella group, None of the Above, and appearing in local community theatre productions. But I finally realized that I'm most comfortable behind a piano, whether playing and conducting for musical theatre, coaching singers, writing music for
youth productions, or teaching the next generation of music lovers how to navigate the keys. And while I perform mostly Broadway-style music now, my classical training continues to serve me well; using good technique not only allows me to play more accurately and expressively, it also protects me from injuries that might otherwise arise from long rehearsals and a busy performance schedule.

I'm excited about where my musical journey has taken me, and I look forward to helping you start or continue yours.

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm serious about making sure my students learn basic skills, like reading notes and rhythms and learning to interpret music artistically, that will serve them not only as developing pianists but in any future musical endeavors. To that end, I choose method books (such as the Faber Piano Adventures series) and supporting materials that build a strong foundation of musical knowledge, and I help each student construct a practice schedule that's appropriate to his or her level.

However, although I do maintain a certain amount of structure, I am very patient and relaxed in my approach to each individual student. I recognize that not everyone learns at the same speed or in the same way, so as long as I can tell you're putting in the effort, I will also try my hardest to find what works for you! And I know it's easiest to stay motivated when working on music you love, so I like to supplement the regular lesson materials with music of the student's choice, whether that means offering a selection of level-appropriate classical pieces, helping locate an arrangement of a favorite song, or coming up with our own arrangement if a good one doesn't already exist. And while my own background is strongest in classical and Broadway styles, I'm happy to have students work on music from any genre. One of the best parts of teaching is when I get to learn something new as well.

Malden studio: Dedicated studio with 88-key weighted keyboard, recording equipment, and large collection of sheet music. Parents can sit in on lessons or wait downstairs. Parking in driveway or on street. We have cats.

I would expect the student to provide a piano or suitable keyboard (88 keys, weighted keys or at least somewhat touch-sensitive, with a clear piano sound). For vocal students, it would be helpful for them to have a separate music stand as well.

*** Specialties ***
In terms of vocal music, I am definitely most comfortable with Broadway-style repertoire, but I have experience with some of the classical repertoire as well. As a pianist I have a solid classical background but am also very familiar with Broadway playing styles; I think I've done a little of everything at this point, so I could adapt to any interests my students might have. I am trained in the Taubman piano technique, which focuses on healthy, effective motions, so I try to incorporate some elements of that in my teaching, to the extent
that I think a particular student will benefit from it.

As for methods: for beginning and intermediate piano students I tend to use the Faber Piano Adventures series, supplemented by additional exercise books (Dozen a Day, for example), simple classical pieces (Bastien publishes a book that I like), or other materials depending on the student's interest and level of achievement (pop, Broadway, etc.). For advanced students I would use different exercise books (Hanon, Czerny, etc.) and focus more on repertoire than method, continuing to teach theory and technique as it comes up.

For vocal students I have mostly stuck to whatever materials/repertoire the student was most interested in, plus vocal exercises to support any problems or challenges they might be working on (e.g., range, vowel formation, learning a healthy mix/belt technique).

Bethany is a wonderful piano teacher! My 12-year-old son has been taking lessons with her for about 3 months now. This is his first time taking music lessons and he absolutely loves it! Bethany is patient and kind and works at his level, while challenging him every week. He feels accomplished and is really having fun. He looks forward to his lessons every week!

In my very first lesson Bulent draft the anatomy of body to explain me how human body works as an instrument, no one didn’t really explain the functions of each part of this instrument so thoroughly, he opened my eyes of how to treat and use my body to create better voice experience. He also has different exercises focusing on different purposes, whether to sustain your air flow, or to correct your enunciation have better control on harder pitches and extra... I feel his class is all in all scientific. He finds where my problem is when practicing, and after his explanation I could already feel my performance was getting better. He’s very friendly and encouraging, the class is serious yet relaxing, we often end up laughing (usually I started it) when doing new exercises. I recommend going to him if you are looking for a vocal trainer.

I have been teaching private lessons now for over two years. I specialize in teaching children and teens and am a student favorite at Take Lessons with a collection of wonderful reviews from students and their parents. I am a very thorough and patient teacher. However, I expect a MINIMUM of three days a week of practice from all of my students at a length of time equal to lesson length. Without adequate practice, the student cannot flourish in fine-tuning their skills and could ultimately end up disappointed. This is completely avoidable with diligent practice.
For my younger students (ages 6-11) I utilize the Little Singers series of text written by Gregory Blankenbehler. For ages 12 and up, I utilize The Contemporary Singer: Elements of Vocal Technique written by Anne Peckham, one of my most influential Berklee professors. In addition to these texts I incorporate the use of the Vaccai: the Practical Method of Italian Singing as well as many various traditional, jazz, pop, and r&b ...

I am laid-back but hardworking and expect an equal level of commitment from my students. I am primarily interested in teaching beginner-intermediate level pupils. Prospective students can expect to start each lesson with vocal exercises focusing on breath support, posture and pitch. Any professional performer understands the importance of warming up prior to performing! Once properly warmed up, you give your voice the range and flexibility it needs to sing beautifully and effectively! I encourage note-taking as well as recording the lessons either on cassette or even your cellphone to assist in practicing on your own between lessons. Depending on my students level of experience, I will then decide which songs to work on that would best fit your range and area of interest. Once a certain amount of progress has been made I will open the doors to my students deciding on songs they'd like to work on specifically as well. After 3-6 months, I would anticipate my students to be able to effectively warm-up their voices on their own through exercises we will have covered, at least a basic understanding of how to sight-read your melody and certainly have a handful of songs memorized and ready to add to your repertoire!

Also, though not necessary in all cases, I would expect my student to have sheet music for songs they're interested in learning as well as CD/cassette/MP3/etc. of songs they're interested in learning.

I would start with a foundation of proper warm-ups, breathing techniques, and vocal exercises with me accompanying on piano. We would then spend the second half of the lesson working on songs primarily of my students choosing. I would be comfortable with just about any genre thus being able to cater to each one of my student's unique areas of interest.

This product has great features

Words will never be enough to express what Danielle has done for my daughter and her love of singing. Danielle has shown so much patience and commitment through her instruction and has boosted my daughters confidence 110%. She knows how to chose the perfect song for Alexis' voice and the emails that she sends after each session provide the proper tools for my daughter to carry out her 1 hour session to a full week. I could not have picked a better vocal coach for my daughter.

Exceeds expectations

My daughter Julia has been taking singing lessons with Danielle since July. Julia is in second grade and this is her first time taking singing lessons. Danielle has devoted so much time to researching good vocal exercises and music selections for a young singer and also to learning the songs Julia was interested in singing. Danielle always follows up within 24 hours with the audio for the lesson and an encouraging email. Danielle is very patient with Julia and takes a genuine interest in her. She listens to the little stories Julia likes to share with her and remembers details of what Julia shares, and has even taken a little extra time to teach Julia a little about playing the keyboard. I can't say enough good things about Danielle. She is a fantastic teacher and a lovely person.

Singing lessons

I run a mentoring program and one of my mentees really wanted to learn how to sing. Through Take Lessons we found Danielle. She is terrific. Very professional and very patient. My mentee is learning so much with Danielle's help. I don't think this 16 year old girl has ever really been expected to work hard on perfecting something so it has been so good for her. This whole experience has been a real joy!

I work with people in regard to singing lessons since 2004 in both academic settings and private face-to-face instructions. The lesson's plans and general direction that it takes during the course of study substantially depends on the student's interests and preferences. Along with main subjects that motivates students most in taking voice lessons ( such as learning new songs from the contemporary popular repertoire, for instance), I will offer my prospective students basic training in general musicianship; this would enable people to sing, read written music, and understand the very basics of music theory. I am Vasiliy M, Boston University School of Music Alumnus (DMA in Composition). We dwell in Boston since Fall 2002; before that time , we lived in New York, where I studied Composition at Mannes College, The New School For Music. I received both BM, and MM degrees from Mannes in 1999, and 2001, respectively. Before an arrival to US, in 1994, I studied Jazz Performance, Electric Bass Major, and Classical Composition, at Moldova State Conservatory, from 1988 to 1993, respectively.
I was raised in the family, where music is an essential part of its daily life; my father, Grigoriy, before his retirement, was a military band trombone player, and, quite naturally, I was exposed to music, and encouraged by my parents to learn playing an instrument of my choice, from my early childhood.
My mother, Anisia Kondrat'ievna,
possesses both beautiful vocal abilities and perfect pitch , although she has never had a chance to develop her natural gifts any further. But I have heard my mother singing, and these moments remain one of the most touching and impressive musical experiences, that I have ever received, and remember to this very day.
Only after a considerable life experiences, abound of trials and mistakes, at the age of twenty five, I have come to a clear realization, that music remains my greatest passion, and that I would have to become a professional musician. With help and support of friends and colleagues, I have entered Community College in Soroki city, Moldova Republic, where I have studied Choral Conducting for Amateurs. I have graduated from school in May of 1988, having written a few instrumental and vocal compositions of my own, and, quite unexpectedly for myself, was invited, that summer, to visit Moldova State Conservatory, with the prospect of audition for the Composition Major. After the meeting with the Chair of the Department, I was offered an opportunity to be accepted to the Master Degree Program in Composition, provided I will have completed two years of preliminary studies of Music Theory, Music Harmony/Voice Leading, and many other related disciplines.
Why do I bring all of these facts to this Essay? I know for the fact now, that I was not ready for what was awaiting ahead of me, back then. There was no way, that I could cope with the demands of Composition Program curriculum. But I have had love for music, that my parents have implemented in me throughout my childhood; I have had natural abilities, that Heavens supplied me with: and I have had a chance to make my dream a reality, providing I do everything that I will have to, during the following years of struggles and study.
The decision was made, and my studies have begun. I have come through every mistake, defeat, and mind-barriers imaginable, and if it would not be a continuous stream of professional help and support, that I have received from my numerous teachers, mentors, and professors, along the years of study, my goals could never be attained to any modest, but real degree.
Whenever I have a chance to teach, tutor, or assist other musicians with their study, my past experience always reminds me, that any person may experience some difficulties of various nature with the learning material, from time to time, and that those difficulties should be addressed by student's teacher with the highly individual approach, however time-and effort-consuming it may be. Patience and respect, in regard to the students, have become as important aspects of teaching to me, as those of discipline and professionalism.

Dr. Bryan Pollock, countertenor, completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts (Voice Performance) at Boston University where he taught private voice and class voice for three years in addition to holding his own voice studio. In 2013 he graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with his Masters in Fine Arts, vocal performance. In 2010 he received his Bachelors in Music from East Carolina University in vocal performance. He received vocal instruction from Dr. Lynn Eustis, Dr. Darryl Taylor, Dr. Louise Toppin, and John Kramar. His piano instructors were Dr. Keiko Sekino and Rebecca Miller. He has performed in over twenty fully-staged operatic productions and five fully-staged musical theatre productions.

Dr. Pollock has travelled extensively during his career throughout the U.S. as well as England, Austria, Italy
, Turkey, Canada, and the Czech Republic. He has a firm knowledge of German, Italian, and French vocal repertory, diction, and languages while specialising in English diction for the non-native speaker and/or singer.

Craig, baritone, is an emerging vocal pedagogue. While still young in his field, he believes that the foundation for singing is the same no matter the genre. By observing what each students needs, Craig helps his students achieve their goals, while pushing them to discover new ones as well.

Craig is a Master's Student for Vocal Pedagogy at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he is the assistant to the program's director. Mr. Juricka’s performance career has brought him to the opera and musical theatre stages around the nation. His most recent credits include Owen Hart (Dead Man Walking), Dr. Cajus (Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor) and The Beast (Disney's Beauty and the Beast). In 2017, he was a finalist in the Classical Singer Competition (Emerging Professional Division) in Chicago, IL. He received first place for the New England Region of this same competition's preliminary rounds in both Musical Theatre and Classical. During the summer of 2018, he will be featured as a Apprentice Artist at Des Moines Metro Opera.

Craig has also become active in the choral world. As a Choral Sch
olar at Marsh Chapel, under the direction of Scott Allen Jarrett, he has performed in various Bach cantatas, as well as Handel's Judas Maccabaeus (Messenger) and Bach's St. John Passion (Pilatus). In the spring of 2018, he made his debut with the Handel & Haydn Society and Boston Baroque, performing Bach's B Minor Mass and Beethoven's Fidelio.

We saw Neguine's profile and my daughter thought she would be a great fit. We were looking for new guitar teacher and were hoping to find a female one. Neguine's profile fit perfectly except one thing, location. The distance was not ideal but we thought we would give it a try and we have been happy that we did. Doing a later time in the evening helped with the drive and my daughter feels that Neguine will be a great teacher. Her background in music and interest in song writing were added bonuses for us. She has already been more helpful that our past instructor. She was quick to note that the strings on my daughter's guitar were not right for her and suggested a restringing that has made it much easier for my daughter to play. We have been very happy with the lessons. My daughter is 16 and has had lessons in the past but is still very new to the guitar. Neguine has been very supporting and encouraging. My daughter likes her.

I come from family of musicians, and I have started exploring music since the age of 5. In addition to my classical studies in Russia, I won the only full tuition scholarship to study in famous Berklee College of Music in the competition that took place during Berklee Asia Scholarship Tour in 2010.

In Berklee I was deeply influenced and moved by Eastern European and Middle Eastern music, which lead to experimentations in fusing those genres with modal jazz and then later rock.

I studied Vocal Performance, and Contemporary Writing and Production, and I have over a decade of experience in teaching, and performing, so I look forward to working with you to develop your voice, piano, and composing/arranging skills!

Inna is a great teacher but also a very interesting person in general. I was hesitant to start lessons but I am very glad I did. Inna provides a friendly and non-judgmental atmosphere that makes it comfortable for me. So far I have taken 5 lessons and I already feel like a made some progress ! First of all I would like to tell you that my experience, education, and accomplishments in Western Contemporary Music was humbling and I have full confidence in myself that I can guide you to become self sufficient musicians in Pop, Rock, Jazz, R&B, with additional/optional flavours from East Mediterranean, to develop your ornamentations! I was born in Denizli, Turkey. My private teachers in Turkey were Timur Selçuk and Randy Esen. After receiving a degree in industrial design, I began his studies at Berklee, studying contemporary writing and production, and graduated with "Summa Cum Laude" honor.

I had performed at and arranged for seven Berklee Performance Center concerts, with both his
Turkish and Western music background. Additionally, I have also performed on campus recitals with my organic world fusion and Turkish music band "The Çay Party". With different versions of The Çay Party I have represented Berklee and Turkish music
in several different Northeastern University festivals and Turkish Consulate of Boston's receptions since February 2015. I was the leader of "Music of Turkey" sections in Berklee International Folk Music Festival in 2016 and 2017.

I won "Best Website Award" for the versatility of my portfolio and my presentation of it in 2017, and I received "Mediterranean Music Institute Achievement Award" in 2017 at the night of the Aynur Doğan concert which I arranged 3 of Aynur's songs.

In Berklee's Commencement Concert 2017, I was one of the 10 student arrangers and 3 male backing vocalists in front of 7.000 audience including honorary doctorate recipients such as Lionel Richie, and the Grammy President Neil Portnow. Additionally I had the honor to be chosen as the student to announce Lionel Richie.

Besides being a writer, arranger and producer, I am a vocalist who features Western contemporary music, Turkish classical, traditional, and contemporary music in my repertoire. I am able to sing microtonally, with knowledge of Turkish and Egyptian microtonal tradition. He plays bağlama, bass guitar, piano, guitar, and hand percussion.
