About Karen

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

Karen was great!

This teacher misrepresented her ability to teach the C system chromatic button accordion. I don't believe that she has ever played one. I asked her before purchasing a set of classes if she knew this instrument and was competent to teach it, and she said she was.

She didn't have one, so she could never demonstrate anything I asked about. She didn't know the key layout. She didn't know the conventions for numbering fingers. She didn't know the basic home key scale pattern.

I waited until I'd finished four classes with my new teacher before writing this so I'd have a good basis for comparison. He is immensely better at teaching this than she was. It further convinced me that she never should have represented herself as competent to teach this particular instrument.

Lydia was very welcoming and kind, and put me at ease during our first lesson. She knew I wanted to work on mallet percussion, and had a lesson plan ready for me on the marimba. She moved at a pace that worked for me, and I already feel as though I have learned some basics. I'm excited to continue my lessons with her!

In these lessons our focus is mainly on hand drumming, teaching the student techniques and styles for various styles of hand drums from around the world.

There are many aspects of djembe playing including strength and co-ordination that only can be improve in our lessons. This is why my djembe lessons will be fun and can be of a great help.

I am at the beginners level and was Self-conscious and nervous, but Murray was encouraging, Inspiring and made me feel at ease....as much as I could. Lol
Niyama R.
Murray is friendly and accessible. He is able to combine his skill with an obvious love of teaching. His approach seems to emphasize technical skill, fun, and a bit of boldness on the student's part. I appreciate his ability to represent the many potentials of drumming, not just as an art but also as a modality of expression and healing that can meet the needs of the moment for a person or a community.

We had fun and are looking forward to our second lesson. Thank you,

Peter is very easygoing and fun to work with. I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed how much we accomplished in our first 45 minute lesson. Look forward to continuing lessons with him!

My first lesson was a lot of fun! Peter is great at helping you feel at ease and comfortable. I was extremely nervous and he was great with making me feel like I was right at home with a friend! I also appreciate that he is not rigid in his teaching techniques or format. He caters your lesson to what your learning desires are and is very good at recognizing your skill level (or lack of 😁). I also appreciate how encouraging he is. I’m super excited to continue on my Saxophone journey!

My child really enjoyed his first lesson with peter. Peter is a very talented musician and he made the lesson fun! My child seemed to learn a lot from just one lesson with peter and he enjoys practicing what he learned at home.

It was a privilege of mine to learn from a master drummer from Guinea, Mohammed Camara. My studies began through classes at Berklee College of Music, and extended in to his personal djembe group lessons where I was given the opportunity to learn soloing along with the rhythms. My lessons are focused on teaching the basics of creating, integrating and manipulating the basic three sounds of djembe music to give students a solid foundation to their future learning. It is a great joy of mine to also teach the rhythms of Kuku, Manjani and Sofa. We will use these rhythms to practice the techniques, but further study in to an intermediate level requires drumming in a group setting. It will be my honor to pass you along to a greater master of djembe drumming than I am, once you've mastered your foundation of technique ;)

Please contact me with any questions.
