I started working with Penny when I was 11 years old and she has done wonders to my voice. When I first started singing, I had no training and had a very little range. Thanks to Penny, I have grown not only as a singer, but I am a stronger performer as well. She helped me with everything: from building my repertoire, to audition prep, and through the college application process. I am now studying at Dean College and getting my BA in Musical Theatre, and I still see Penny for lessons when I am home. I owe all of my success to Penny’s training!!

I enjoy working with most of my students, especially those who practice hard. I find all students unique and they response differently to my requests or questions. I feel that very often I need to react spontaneously to their responses. For the beginners I mainly focus on reading musical notes and learning correct rhythmic values. With beginners who haven’t played the piano at all I teach finger exercises written finger numbers only. Then I use Piano Adventures theory, lesson, technique and artistry, performance, and popular music books. Although Alfred’s and Bastien’s methods are well known, I prefer Piano Adventures because they introduce the coordination of right and left hand in more progressive manner. At the beginning the following will be covered.
• Postures at the piano, finger numbers, high and low on the keyboard
• Music alphabet, Intervals
• Musical form, Dynamic marks
• Staff; line notes, space notes
• Time signature, accent mark, legato, staccato
• Basic chords ...

This teacher knows exactly what she was doing. She sat with me patiently and helped me work through and explained everything to me. She is such a great person too. I will be sticking with her because she is challenging me.

Amber is a very tough teacher, but I think I will learn a lot from her.

I have various way to teach and develop students’ playing skills for both technically and musically! I had been teaching Oberlin College’s students for two years as a secondary piano teacher. I think a wonderful piano teacher is a main key for improving student’s playing skill in short time. Choosing a right teacher can lead student to the direct way of improving. Otherwise, student needs time to change their playing skills due to “wrong or bad teacher.”

About Xiaotong

I got Bachelor degree of music in piano performance in Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2017 with eighty percent of scholarship! I got Master degree of music in piano performance in New England Conservatory in 2019 with half scholarship! I had my recitals done all over the United States such as N

My 6yr old just took his first lesson and is hooked. Gigi is very sweet and stirred up an excitement in him. My son definitely liked the "idea" of learning the piano but is now confidant and actually writing his first song! Who knew, 5 notes and you can become a composer! BRAVO GIGI:)

"Terri is very nice with my boys, especially patient with my younger son Jon who has just learnt Piano for about half-one year. Terri taught the intro music theory, how to train ears and finger skills, which Jon really enjoys. And Terri kindly email us music sheet and practice recordings after every lession, which are very helpful for kids to practice. Although we have to change schedule, we miss her!"

"This is our second year with Miss Fawn and I can't say enough wonderful things about her. My two older girls have taken piano for 3 1/2 years and she is by far the best teacher we've had.
Miss Fawn is very talented in her own right and expects stellar results from her students. She has a way with kids that make them feel comfortable and excited about piano while making incredible progress.
My 7 year old just started taking lessons and has learned so much already.
Miss Fawn comes to our home each week which, as a busy mom of five, is extremely helpful with our crazy schedule.
Thank you, Miss Fawn!"

And when she became fuzzy during the class, Ian could be so creative to always come out with a way to calm her down and redirect her attention to other musical things.
