Experienced and well rounded musician. Just graduated from New England Conservatory with Masters in Voice Performance. Performed recently as Cunegonde in Bernstein's Candide and Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute.

Also trained in violin (15 years) and piano (10 years), and have experience tutoring music theory and keyboard harmony at the undergrad level.

I love playing in orchestra and chamber ensembles, and will gladly play with you to work on listening and musicianship as well as technique and fundamentals. We can also work on playing by ear, and can address all different types of repertoire!

Lets start the road towards your musical growth and enjoyment in the way YOU work best!!

While we are at it, we can work on another instrument, music theory, or even an academic subject (check out my other subjects on my page!).

Catherine is very responsible and extremely helpful for my music theory study. She set up additional office hours to help me understand the knowledge and pass the advanced tonal practice course. Her introduction was very clear and she delivered it with great patience. She was also very thoughtful to be flexible to fit my schedule. I really appreciate her help, and would highly recommend her.
Sami
I wish I could give catherine 5000000+ stars! she worked with me through two tough years of undergrad music theory and keyboard and I was able to pass my classes on time and really improve my skills. her positivity, enthusiasm, understanding, and work ethic are unmatched. I couldn’t of made it through my first two years of college without her.

Hannah does a wonderful job with my daughter, she started with how to tune and set up the violin. Hannah does a great job working with my daughter showing her the proper technique and providing her exercises and activities to do in between lessons. You can tell Hannah loves teaching and music.

Hannah is a very dedicated and patient instructor. She always tries to keep the lessons interesting and fun, she also makes sure I take little stretch breaks in between exercises and always teaches me something new!

Ms Byrd was great at instructing my 8 year old on violin using an online tool. She kept my daughter on task and engaged. My daughter is looking forward to her next lesson.

Taylor is very knowledgeable, patient, and kind with my son. She explains things in an easily understandable way relating to him on his level. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a string teacher!
Ava
I started playing violin much later than is usual, but Taylor has been able to incorporate my other interests to augment my learning! She has been able to take my personal strong and weak suits into consideration and has made learning, in all aspects, a breeze. She is also a delight to be around! I would say that she is unequivocally the best music teacher I've ever encountered.

I initially started lessons with Jessica in CA. When I moved to the other side of the country four years ago, we decided to try ways to continue online. After some trial and error, I’m so glad we stuck with it. It’s worked out beautifully even before “Social Distance” was a thing!
Jeanne
Jessica is not only a very talented musician but a great teacher! Her instruction was clear and understandable and she seemed dedicated to her students. I was an adult student and had always wanted to learn to play the violin. I took lesson for three years until my schedule became too busy. I would definitely recommend her to potential students of all ages.
Nate
Jessica's mix of outstanding skill as a professional musician, her effective read of how different personality types approach music, and her distinct ability to transfer skill and understanding through a teaching mentorship - were THE factors that brought me back to the violin after a hiatus brought about by a poor match between me and a previous teacher. Whether music theory or technique, Jessica's teaching helped me through barrier after barrier. I am so fortunate to have found her.

"I absolutely love Lisa's teaching style! She made me feel comfortable in the class even though I was dreading being on a web cam. I'm very sensitive to criticism as I take it to heart but Lisa was kind, knowledgeable, and personable. I couldn't recommend a better teacher for the violin. I've wanted to play all of my life and I look forward to learning more with Lisa."

"Kendra has been a wonderful instructor for our daughter, Kate. She has a great way of "scaffolding" the learning, so that Kate is almost always at the edge of her abilities.... not too easy and not too hard. Kate enjoys Kendra's approach and is very comfortable with her. We have been very happy with Kate's motivation to practice and with her progress in learning. She especially enjoys the variety of music that Kendra encourages her to play."

"I started taking lessons from Michael in person about a year ago, and switched to online lessons about 4 months ago when shelter-in-place began.

Michael has been a wonderful, patient teacher. Some weeks I have been able to dedicate several hours of practice to violin, and other weeks I was unable to do anything. In both cases he's worked with me to figure out what my homework would be for the next week, even if I had not made any progress from the previous week. I am endlessly grateful for his patience.

He's also been great in giving me various practice techniques to work on various skills that I need to polish or develop - I leave each lesson feeling like I have a little bit more in my toolkit to eventually master violin, and that kind of tangible progress is extremely motivating."

"I have absolutely been delighted with my teacher Linda. At almost 50 years old, I was apprehensive about learning to play a new instrument, but she is so welcoming and encouraging. I have been taking lesson since the summer, and I look forward to seeing her every week. Even if I don't get in as much practice as I would like, She is understanding of life's commitments and never makes me feel bad. And despite my MANY questions, she takes the time to explain in detail so I can understand and incorporate the lesson in my playing. I never feel rushed during my lesson and can't wait to surprise her the next week to show her how much I've learned.."
