About Kristin
Hello!

I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.

At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs.
I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.

I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and
my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.

I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students as well.

I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!

My first piano lesson turned out to be so much more than I could have ever expected. My teacher, Kristin is so engaged in the lesson and so very well prepared. We covered so much in such a short time. She made every minute both fun and informative while providing a very friendly environment in her studio. I feel very fortunate to have found such a really competent music teacher.

About Christien
Hi! I have a degree in Early Music Voice from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and have studied voice with private teachers intermittently over the past two decades.

I also have a Master's in Cello Performance, and can teach cello at the beginner to upper intermediate level. My experience in teaching is with modern (standard) cello, but I can also teach the basics of baroque cello (with gut strings and a baroque bow). Gut strings can be finicky, but their sound is warm and expressive. If you are interested to know more, just drop me a note! Another instrument I can teach is the Viola da Gamba, a very interesting early 6- or 7-string instrument with gut strings. (That's the instrument I'm holding in my profile picture!)
Aside from music, I have taught English as a Foreign and Second Language (in Bulgaria with Peace Corps,
in New Mexico with Berlitz, at the U. of New Mexico). I would be very pleased to help students of any age with reading, listening comprehension, and writing.

Collins had his first cello lesson with Christien today. He love it! Christien is super patient and very very professional. She corrected Collins' posture and the way to hold the bow. Christine gave very clear instruction, and made the lesson lot of fun.

I've been working with Nate for almost a year now in the band Mile Twelve, and my experience with him has been incredible. Not only is he a amazingly well-learned, proficient, and creative musician, but he's one of the most understanding and helpful guys that I know. I've learned so much from playing with Nate, and I know his students are in good hands.

Working with Nate is great! By working step by step through a couple songs I brought with me, and I noticed an across-the-board improvement in my playing after the first lesson. Plus, we have a good time of it!

Nate has a very good ear, and is quickly able to identify problems, and thoroughly explain how to fix them. Whether a technique thing, or subtle nuances in timing, or tone, Nate always finds the clear path to expressing the goal, and how to get there.
I'd recommend Nate to anyone seeking to improve their playing. The rest is practice, practice, practice.

From Joseph Hunt, former Professor at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA.
This is a recommendation for a friend whose musicianship, I hold in high regard.
Larry Kukors, is an exciting jazz bassist with whom I often work, playing jazz in
Boston clubs. I've had an illustrious jazz career, having recorded my drumming
with Stan Getz, Bill Evans, George Russell, and others in NYC and New England.
Larry is a serious minded musician who is passionate about his work. He is a
skillful bassist who is a natural improvisor. I have little doubt that he would be
capable of jazz improvisation instruction online.

Larry is a virtuoso bassist and master improviser who has the ability to make learning musical concepts, whether they be highly advanced or more basic, very accessible and easier to assimilate. His energy and enthusiasm are infectious and will inspire you to want to practice and push yourself to the next level. As a fellow musician (saxophone) who plays regularly with his trio I've learned a lot from gigging and rehearsing with Larry and my own playing has benefitted greatly. If you have some musical experience already and are looking to broaden your harmonic and rhythmic knowledge, or are just starting out I would highly recommend the opportunity to study with Larry!

His enthusiasm, dedication, empathy, and passion for both learning and teaching will make him a great choice for your future instructor!

I graduated Berklee College of Music - Professional Diploma in Performance (summa cum laude). During my studies at Berklee College of Music every semester I earned placement at Dean's List and 10 March 2016 I also received John LaPorta Award for outstanding achievement in my major.

After the graduation from high school in Novy Jicin I started to study acoustic guitar in which I pursued classical and latin music at the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory in Prague, Czech Republic. Then I was admitted to a professional diploma program at the same Conservatory to study electric guitar where I studied jazz. I also invited lessons of rock guitar. Alongside the guitar, I was taking voice lessons and piano lessons.

During my studies at Berklee, the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory and after graduation I played with a lot of musical groups including du
ets, trios and performed in reputed concert halls and jazz clubs like Berklee Performance Center, Ryles Jazz Club, New England Guitar Festival, Prague Congress Centre, Hall of Bohuslav Martinu, Cultural Centre of Novodvorska, Jazz Dock, etc. I also performed for live TV show Terra Musica in Prague, also for Bohemian TV and recorded musical advertisement for famous magazine Reflex.

I have more than 10 years teaching experiences. I was a guitar and music theory teacher in Prague at variety music schools and I also had many private students.

I teach variety music styles and also music theory, sight reading, improvisation and arranging. My teaching style demonstrates dedication to fostering a positive learning environment to all students and maximizing individual student performance. The accomplishment I'm most proud of in my teaching career is that some of my students were accepted to Music Conservatory.
