Whether it is a
professional gig or a high school musical, I cater my lessons to your needs. At a standard lesson, I start by warming up my students. We then work on songs either with me accompanying on piano or working along with tracks. In many cases, we focus on preparing for auditions whether it is for performing live, a college audition, a junior competition or even television. I also mentor my students and help them to find auditions and work. In songwriting, I try to assist in structure, lyrics and tracks. I play piano as well and can work on performance with an accompanist or help you to familiarize with the music.I love teaching and am very passionate about my students and work hard to provide encouragement and fun! I am also able to teach basic recording technique in Protools, Ableton and have recording knowledge in Logic Pro X.

Lauren is inspirational!

I began studying with Lauren about five years ago. Her instruction in musical theatre, opera, and pop has been some of the best that I have ever received. In fact, thanks to her coaching, I was able to book a role in my first Equity musical, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, at the Pantages Theatre in LA. She has a passion for music, is an excellent accompanist, and knows how to work with developing singers. Her engaging, encouraging direction continues to inspire me to be the best vocalist I can be!

Lauren is an amazing teacher!

Lauren is an incredible teacher! I came to her without much experience in vocal technique, and she has helped me improve so much. She has taught me many useful techniques to stay on pitch even when the notes are really high, to have good breath support, and to project my voice more.

Lauren is a very supportive teacher. She likes to establish friendships with her students, and she truly cares about what's going on in their lives.

I've taken lessons with Lauren for a little over 3 years now because I've had such a great experience with her. I'd recommend her to anybody! She has helped me get into my school's advanced choir, prepare solo songs, and just practice my singing technique in general.

Also, scheduling voice lessons with Lauren is very convenient. We never have problems finding a common time. I love the studio where she teaches too! It's really cool. I have nothing but positive feedback about my time with her, and I plan to continue lessons with her!

I've been taking guitar lessons with Jonah for a few months now and it s great!! I'm learning sooo much. Whether you've never played guitar or EVER played guitar he is a super knowledgeable teacher. It is so enriching and worth it. Let's face it, the year has been stressful. My weekly lesson gets me grounded just by playing my own beautiful music. Anyway, thanks to those who've posted and recommended Jonah. I'm A BELIEVER or should I say "JONALIEVER?"

I started playing guitar at age 10 but had let it go over the past couple decades. Eager to re-learn the instrument, I recently started taking lessons with Jonah Rosenthal and he's fantastic. Exactly the kind of teacher I was looking for - thorough, creative, encouraging, and most important - patient. I can't recommend him highly enough, for someone just starting out on the guitar or a lapsed player like me.

I've been playing guitar (on and off) for over 50 years. I read Jonah's post about 3 months ago and decided to call Jonah for lessons. I had been feeling very rusty and wanted to polish my skills and learn some new songs. I've already learned a lot from Jonah and my guitar playing sounds much better in every way. Jonah has been great to work with, he is easy-going, fun and most importantly, he's a great teacher.

I have been using Ableton for over 5 years, with a lot of experience using it in live performances as well as composition/production. I personally love ableton, I think it is the best DAW out there and definitely the one I'm most familiar with. I used it for most of my Electronic Production & Design projects at Berklee. Additionally I taught kids ages 13-18 how to use Ableton at the West End House Boys & Girls Club in Allston, MA for 2-3 years. I currently teach music production to quite a few students at my home studio, doing in-home lessons, and teaching online - my current students range from teens to adults. Furthermore, I've had tracks which I have produced (in Ableton) selected by Berklee's Electronic Production & Design Dept. (EPD) to be played for internationally acclaimed sound designer/producer/composer Richard Devine, during his 2014 seminar at Berklee. I was also selected as a finalist for a remix competition at the 2nd International Csound Conference in 2013 (for another ...

We were thrilled with Josh! Our son really enjoyed his lessons and improved significantly working with him for the last year. Josh is a motivational teacher - our son WANTED to practice each day and that is because of Josh's inspiration and modeling what it takes to be a great drummer. Our son gained both the confidence and ability to audition for an make it into 3 high school bands this year. He couldn't have done it without Josh. He's a terrific percussion teacher and a great guy!

For anybody who wants to create their own music I approve tips on how to make Ableton and Ableton Push a tool to harness your imagination.

About Steven
Hi my name is Steve. I play various fretted instruments including guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo, and some mandolin. I have a bachelors degree in music from Elmhurst College and I focused on Classical and Jazz Guitar. Currently, I have been playing various community theater gigs across the northwest suburbs in Chicago. I own my own home studio and have produced some music that have been heard on some nationally sndicated TV shows. I think it's important to learn fundamentals in technique and music theory but if all you want to do is rock, I'm fine with that.

I started out at a young age as a babysitter for family friends. In high school, I took a job managing a local skatepark and giving skateboarding lessons. Once I moved to San Diego to attend SDSU, I took a side job as an activity leader for Harmonium, an after school program for elementary school students. During the summers, I also managed and taught skateboarding at the local YMCA Skateboarding Summer Camp.

Anyways, after I started to excel in my music career, friends and acquaintances started reaching out to me for advice and information. Learn everything from producing with arrangement view, signal routing, mixing, managing files, plugins, wav editing/warping, syncing, to rapid jamming/performance in session view, Link, building custom vsts in MAX for live, working with video, etc.
I bring my 22 years of DAW experience to the table with Ableton Live 9.7.

About Stephen
Why should you take lessons from me?
There are some musicians who teach only as a way to make ends meet and there are those who are passionate about education in general. There are some music teachers who will show you how to play songs and call it a day. That's giving the hungry a fish. I prefer to teach the hungry how to catch fish. Why you use a certain rod, line, lure, how to find fish, what fish are edible, how to drive a boat, etc...In musical terms this translates to things such as why you hold an instrument a certain way, the logic behind finger positions, how to construct chords/scales then use them, how to count musically and why, etc...I teach how to think musically and creatively on and off of the page and have a vested interest in the progress of my students.

About Noah
Berklee College of Music '16 - Voice principle, B.M. Songwriting
I have taken a lot of voice lessons with a lot of different teachers. Most teachers are hard and fast in their opinions about styles that are "worthy" or "not worthy" of teaching. I am confident in the fact that learning R&B is no better or worse than learning classical music, musical theater or jazz or rock. They ALL provide benefits to the voice, to the musician. I've sung and played in a wide variety of ensembles and styles myself, from psychedelic rock to 'Singin' in the Rain' to Jazz to classical arias, to synth pop. My goal is to find music that moves the student emotionally wether it was on the radio or not. From there we can mix in exercises and adaptations the emphasize vocal/musical health, musicianship and fun. After all, if it isn't fun or cathartic, why make mu
sic at all? I also play piano, electric bass and guitar, with a degree in Songwriting from Berklee CoM, so I'm well equipped to assist young singer/songwriters.

I have used Ableton Live professionally for over 7 years and know many tricks and techniques to produce quickly and at a high professional level.

About Brad
I use my 28 years of experience playing piano to help students enjoy music in whatever way they want; whether it's learning their favorite pop song, writing and professionally recording an original tune, or learning that difficult piece that they never thought they would be able to play. It's all about finding the best way to have fun with music and getting the satisfaction that learning an instrument offers.

I believe that learning music can be a fun, almost magical experience with a good teacher. I have created the North Shore Piano Studio to create an inspiring atmosphere to share my love of music with others. I have taught hundreds of students how to play piano and each student is unique in how they learn. My goal is to help each one get the most they can out of a music education and have fun doing it.

Ableton Live is an amazing tool for creativity. If you want to produce or record music, this is the versatile choice that will allow you to make creative decisions quickly and enact them precisely. It's an amazing piece of software.

About Josh
I have a privately run studio in my home in North Austin. I am a performing, recording, and teaching violinist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Violin Performance With An Emphasis On Music Composition and Technology. I am a songwriter, composer, pianist, and singer as well, with a background in: acro yoga, bodywork, a handstand study, and a curiosity in speed learning, body awareness, mental agility, flow, and expression. This allows me to take a more holistic view of playing music. My experience gives me the belief that music can be used as a tool to develop the mind and body through awareness and strategy, not just chance.

My understanding of music has affected the way I perceive the world, and the way I move through it. I enjoy sharing that with my students.

I teach a lot of skills and instruments. My greatest joys are teaching
the violin, and music production.

The violin is an instrument that is incredibly simple conceptually and, when played, provides an infinite opportunity for variation. The process of learning involves stripping that infinite variety into a set of simple ideas that are learned, ingrained, and, eventually, the variety is reintroduced and creative ability begins to show itself in a usable form. Using the violin as a fun and rewarding method of self expression, and a tool for sharpening the mind and the body provides a powerful combination that, when approached with regular practice, can provide a depth of benefit far beyond possessing a new skill.

Music production is a huge part of music, a bigger part of the future of music. And every great musician is a producer in one sense or another. To me, production is seeing the big picture. To decide what you want the hear, to imagine a sound, an arrangement, a complete track or album, and to bring it into the world complete with all the precision and happy accidents that go along with that process, that is music production. I particularly enjoy teaching electronic music production through Pro Tools, Ableton Live (what I use the most personally), or Fruity Loops. I'm comfortable with most modern software relating to music. And I will guide you through the process of learning effects, recording techniques, sound design, songwriting, composing, arranging, and mixing, to create the music that reflects your imagination.
