BA in Music Composition and English from Columbia College Chicago

While attending Columbia College Chicago, they hired me as a Writing Consultant for 3 years. I enjoyed tutoring at their Writing Center providing help to individual Students with Free-writing, Brainstorming, various Essay styles, Thesis development, Word Usage, Grammar, Internet Research, Resume assistance and some ESL. Since then, I have written a self-published novel and a full-length screen play.
I believe that understanding and developing one's Writing Process is crucial for anyone at any age. It is remarkable how difficult it is for many people to write something as essential as a basic job resume. Reading Comprehension and Verbal Expression take time, but a well-developed Writing Process is often far more challenging. To acquire the knowledge and experience in order to "get your thoughts on paper" acquires specific techniques and an understanding of one's unique thought process. Thankfully, this is a very rewarding experience!

Book NowI love reading. Let's read together to grow our vocabulary. I'm used to reading three books a night. Allowing the book to take me to a different world.
About Phebe
Hi! I'm Phebe! I just finished high school. I have been an online student since my freshman year teaching myself how to study. I understand this past year has been really hard and the standards are changing as to what needs to be taught and how, although I believe in keeping things simple and fun.

I teach phonics to younger children to develop their reading, writing and speech. I put a heavy emphasis on developing the child's awareness of phonemes, which are the most basic building blocks for all words in the English language. I will improve your child's ability to hear, identify, and manipulate over 40+ phonemes, and teach them how they correspond to the intricate spelling patterns that are found in our language.
I have taught all forms of English and language arts from pre-school to adults in their 50's from foreign countries. I am an expert on pronunciation, vocabulary, spelling, reading, writing as well as more complex mechanics such as sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, comprehension, etc.
About Matthew

Book NowI taught math classes as a GED instructor at Baltimore City Community College (2 years) where I found algebra and geometry to be the areas where students had the most problems. I was able to explain things to them more simply and in that time, helped 35 students earn their high school diploma.

He impressed me already the first minutes of the first lesson he gave my son in AP Calculus BC by asking specific questions and pin pointing where my son might need help. After that he has come prepared and focused with materials for each tutoring session.
Marwan's piano credentials speak for themselves but I want to underscore that he is really good at adjusting to the student's level and making it fun. My daughter always tells me afterwards *it is so much fun with Marwan!*.
On top of all that, Marwan is a good, kind person and a really cool guy. You could not be in better hands."

Another thing worth mentioning is Colin's passionate approach to teaching. He would always go about each lesson with unmistakable enthusiasm, showing that even calculus could be fun, if you were willing to see it as so. He was also always willing to go all the way with any problem, even if it went over the time limit; he wanted to make sure that I had no questions or concerns about any topic, no matter how complex it might have been. So, all in all, if you are looking for a suitable calculus tutor, Colin is certainly a very worthy option!"
