Students will learn how to interpret questions and the sequences to respond to these questions. Sometimes, there are more than one questions in an Essay question. You will know how to develop the questions and answer them with examples (if necessary) in order and how to format and organize your short answers. I will assist you in your homework and provide you with tools to response to the questions appropriately.

Students hate writing because they’ve been disenfranchised. They are told to write about things that are of no interest to them. Or they are continually drowned in a flood of suggestions and critique. I helped students who think they hate to write by helping them see that writing is an extension of their interests. I use what a student loves to break through and help them see that writing can be meaningful to them, not just an assignment from the teacher.

I understand that skills taught does not equal skills learned and that every person needs his or her own personalized approach to learning. Therefore, everyone receives an individualized program geared to his or her needs and interests. With a mindful approach, we can get to what’s really going on and make learning moments easier for everyone.

About Lisa

With over two decades of teaching experience, I help students get in touch with how they learn best. My services are tailored to each individual because the process of writing can reveal specific barriers to, and opportunities for learning and growing. I use mindfulness as a tool: I actively listen

My second grader joined one of Lisa's writing classes. It was 3 kiddos and they all LOVED! Even over zoom, Lisa made a connection with my child who simply adored her. After just a few lessons, my child said, "Lisa makes me feel like I'm a real writer." For a child who was a reluctant writer, I do not think think there is higher praise! I saw my child both become inspired to write and grow in confidence. I recommned Lisa without reservations!

My child started working with Lisa a few years ago. We felt at that time his school was not able to provide sufficient curriculum and support both for reading and writing. Lisa is very skilled in gaining trust with us and has been really flexible in tailoring the work based on the needs and providing excellent teaching and coaching for my child. He has thrived over the past couple of years in reading comprehension, and has made significant strides in becoming a more confident writer. With Lisa's help, my child was able to attain great results in standardized tests. Thank you, Lisa.
Desiree
My introverted 8 year old found a small group that she could flourish with under Lisa's tutelage. Lisa introduced topics that kept the kids engaged and excited, and my daughter's writing continued long after the class was over. She was so excited about what she had written, she even shared some of her writing from this class with her regular school class! Lisa presents the material in a level appropriate and fun way, encouraging the students to create without fear of mistake, and with gentle guidance to the correct style or form.

"Daniel has tutored me through 2 years of college math including, calculus 2, calculus 3, linear algebra, and differential equations. He helped me on a weekly basis with homework assignments and preparing for tests. The way he taught cleared up all of my questions from lecture and changed my approach to math for the better. Thanks to Daniel's methods and thorough explanations, I earned A's in all my classes. If you seek a solid understanding of math and a professional tutor, I highly recommend Daniel."

"Colin helped me through the last semester of IB Calculus. He would email me two days before each lesson so he was prepared with a relative lesson plan for our hour long weekly session of review. He even created a video explaining a topic I was stuck on and sent it to me after our weekly session. I wouldn’t have gotten an A in the last semester without him. Thanks Colin."

"I feel compelled to share a great “find” I made last year. School had only been in session for two weeks before my kids came home lamenting that their AP Physics teacher left them totally confused and stressed out. Switching to a less demanding schedule wasn’t an option so I decided to look for some help. Lord knows, it wasn’t going to come from me or my husband! I found Daniel, a 2012 UCLA engineering grad who has been tutoring for many years. After the boys’ first meeting with him, the level of stress in our household plummeted and the boys did well on their first physics test. They ended up with A's in the class and doing well on the AP exam. We’ve decided to have him come regularly, just to make sure the boys understand the material and keep them confident. Daniel is able to help them with anything they don’t get in their calculus class as well.
So as you stare the next school year in the face, if your child has any difficulty with their studies, especially in math or physics, consider talking to Daniel. He’s a lovely young man and the boys really responded to him well."
