I am a singer/songwriter that has performed all over the country and I would love to share my expertise with you. 18 years experience performing and 5 years experience teaching. Before moving to Los Angeles I taught at the award-winning Area Stage Company in Miami, FL. I have studied classical piano since the age of four and more recently studied jazz and pop/rock playing under award-winning performer/educator Daniel Strange at the Frost School of Music. I have also studied vocal performance under Dr. Ana Flavia Zuim (music director for Hamilton). I want to cater to whatever you are passionate about because I believe the best way to learn is to be excited about music!

I approach my teaching by finding every singer's true and honest voice, and then exploring ways to make that voice as free and beautiful as possible. In the course of our lessons I will utilize techniques to explore breath control, resonance, range and freedom of not only the voice, but the body's ability to express while performing.
Every person that is capable of speech is capable of singing beautifully, and I fully embrace that mantra as a teacher. With that approach, I teach a wide variety of styles, ranging from Music Theater to classically informed Operatic Singing. Let's make some music!

"For every good bassist, there's a dozen great guitarists." Someone said this to me when I was a young wannabe rocker, I have found it to be true. The bass is the part of the song that everyone really hears. If lead guitar is the icing, bass guitar is the cake. Learn how chords work, and how to map them easily, and let your creativity take over from there.

Scotty is a excellent teacher.
I've been learning bass from him and he is very knowledgeable in everything from the history of music, theory, techniques and much more.
I've been taking lessons from Scotty for over a year and have learned a lot about theory, form, and style. Had taken lessons from other instructors and felt that I should had been further along after 1 year. One hour lesson time is perfect for me and I always leave wishing I had more time.
Great teacher takes time to cover theory of music, and does hour lessons unlike most teachers in town who do 30min lessons. Have taken lessons from other teachers in the past, and all they do is teach you songs without explaining the reasoning behind it. Have learned more in the last few months then Iâve learn in years with other teachers.

Book NowI've used Ableton for many years to compose and perform. It's my favorite and first DAW. So fun. Let's get started having fun!
About Joe
Hello! I'm a professional jazz pianist and composer, but classically trained first. I moved here in 2015 to be around the best musicians. My jazz really took off here, and I'm playing private events as background music on weekends. Making music has always been a love affair for me, and along the w

I have been taking lessons with Matt for over a year. I can honestly say, if you want drum lessons, then he's your guy! He is professional, personable, highly knowledgeable, patient, explains things very well, and very reliable. I have had 3 guitar teachers, 1 voice teacher, and 1 drum teacher before Matt and out of all those teachers, he was by far the best. There is a big difference between someone who does it for a hobby or just a little extra income and some one who has a passion and Matt has the passion and he really cares about his students. I can be really bad about practicing but he hasn't given up on me and is always encouraging. From my past experiences with teachers, a teacher that believes in you is a very important element in teaching, Matt has that element. If you want the best, I mean really the best you can find, then go with Matt. You will NOT regret it and nor will your child."
