Jack is an incredible teacher! I was nervous and a little self conscious about my basic guitar playing skills in the beginning but he made me feel extremely comfortable and built my confidence in my skills. He refined my basics and would emphasize focus on me enjoying my playing but also enjoying the theoretical knowledge. He has an incredible sense of humor so the class environment was always positive and encouraging. Highly recommend Jack!

Jack is a great guitarist and a wonderful teacher. Learned a lot from him!

There is something about self doubt that really makes it hard to learn a new instrument, especially when you’re not a middler schooler. As a current college student in Boston, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar (something about my ukulele just bored me at this point). When I looked for guitar clubs on campus, it turned out that every other member not only knew how to play guitar but also was really good at it too. Bummed there wasn’t a “beginner guitar newbie club” on campus, I turned to guitar schools around Boston. A lot of them dumbed down the guitar to a point where it felt condescending (ex: making up names for strings instead of learning notes). Discouraged, I searched online and happened upon Jack! His Scottish accent wasn’t the only thing that caught my attention, this guy can really shred! He manages to make you feel comfortable and never makes me feel dumb when I make a mistake or ask a question. He is the first guitar teacher in Boston, anyway, to actually show me how to be comfortable and confident with my instrument, even from the beginning.

Gregg was my musical instructor during the early 1980ties. What I learned in a few lessons with him was more that I could have expected. I was primarily focused on percussion, of which his vast knowledge was highly dynamic. I learned about poly-rhythms, Indian ti-hies, and complex time signatures. He had available much reference material that he provided me. And over the years his musical insights have not only supplemented my inquiries, but made me a better musician and person. I hope you have a chance to study with Gregg, as you will be introduced to a new and better way of musicianship!

I am an experienced session player of about 5 years, specializing in classic rock, jazz, blues and pop! I have been playing guitar for 11 years and was self taught up until I studied music theory and performance at Los Angeles Pierce College. There I also played in the jazz ensemble and was a part of the choir where I played in multiple student concerts on and off campus, including at USC. Since then I have played lead and rhythm guitar in many bands around LA and released one album and two singles. My favorite artists include Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Jackson Browne, Tom Petty and Talking Heads. I like working with people who are eager to learn and willing to ask questions to make sure they get what they want out of my lessons.

About Jacob

I’ve been playing guitar for about 11 years. I started out self-taught and decided to take it a step further in college with theory classes and playing in the jazz band. I grew up on classic rock, (Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Jackson Browne) and nowadays I like to keep up with indie rock/

"We've briefly tried guitar instructions at a studio and in my home and weren't really happy with either. Decided to give it another go and were very lucky to find Rebecca.
My 10 year old grandson is learning to play an electric guitar whereas I favor the acoustic. Instead of doing 2 separate half hour lessons, Rebecca let us combine them into a single hour that we take together. Doing the lessons together makes it easy to see how Rebecca makes adjustments to each person's abilities and instrument. A number of the songs in the music book are made for 3 separate guitars, which makes it more enjoyable/interesting as each one of us (including Rebecca) take turns playing a different guitar's section at the same time.
A real down to earth individual that is both joyful and serious. I keep coming up with questions regarding music and playing the guitar. Whether its part of the lesson or not; she is always provides me with an answer that is easy to understand.
I would highly recommend Rebecca as an instructor."

"Eric is a highly intelligent musician. He is very patient and encouraging. Eric knows how to teach as well. He can get the point of the lesson across in a manner that is easily understood. I have had instructors before who were excellent musicians but just could not get the hang of teaching what they know. Eric also does not just "show you were to put your fingers". He teaches you "why you put your fingers where you do". His style of teaching is exactly what I was looking for. The fretboard makes so much more sense to me now. Rock on!"

Guitar Playing Tips | Eliminating Bad Habits & Reducing Injury

As far as guitar playing tips go, understanding proper form should be at the top of the list! Here, North Wales, PA guitar teacher Nathan D. shares the basics...   As a multi-instrumental musician, I am constantly checking my form to prevent strain or injury. Hours of improperly played guitar, piano, violin, and even clarinet can make one's fingers and elbows throb, and the impact of playing drums too hard with poor form can cause major injury to wrists all the way to your shoulders. …
