I earned MM in Jazz Performance, Bass Guitar Major, in 1993, and play/teach lessons for Bass Guitar since that time. My prospective students will receive rigorous training in both Bass Guitar performance and musicianship focused on the specifics of the subject of study. The level that we would begin lessons with will depend on the student's abilities and potentials. We will strive to create professional and friendly working atmosphere, and will begin lessons with careful assessment of the student's performing abilities; we will also set our goals, based on both individual expectations of students and on professional experience of the instructor. My teaching philosophy lies on three aspects; on patience with people; on love for the subject of teaching/study; and on rigorous training, offered to people, for their benefit and general musical development.
About Vasiliy
Hello, I am Vasiliy M, Boston University School of Music Alumnus (DMA in Composition). We dwell in Boston since Fall 2002; before that time , we lived in New York, where I studied Composition at Mannes College, The New School For Music. I received both BM, and MM degrees from Mannes in 19

Overall, he's a really nice guy with a patient, calm, yet enthusiastic disposition, who is clearly very experienced in music and life in general. I'm an extremely nervous person and it usually takes me a long time to relax around a new person, but he's really chill and I felt pretty comfortable within a few minutes of talking.
I went into my first lesson frankly pretty terrified, and with almost no direction, and I left feeling uplifted with a clear path for pursuing music. The lesson exceeded my expectations by far, I would recommend him to anyone.

My personal pedagogy is a combination of the basic technical and theoretical aspects of the instrument and what music the student is interested. It is paramount that students of all levels are learning their instrument through performing their favorite music. All necessary technical exercises can be adapted to a specific genre of music. I have many resources and a vast library of literature available for my lessons that I have compiled through my years at Berklee studying with the world's greatest bassists and theorists.
My main goal in every lesson is to be as time efficient as possible. We start with introducing new warm up exercises or new approaches to playing the instrument with confidence and facility. This is important for students of all levels so we can learn the correct ways to execute our favorite music in the most efficient way possible. From there I always spend the most time on the student's goals, like learning a new song or perhaps theory and improvisation. My ...

Being an active and experienced musician gives me the necessary knowledge to know what is needed on order to become a better musician. Also having over 20 years of teaching experience allows me to tailor my knowledge to the need of every particular student. I really enjoy to transfer my knowledge and solve the unique musical problem that every student encounter during their musical path.

The bass is one of the few musical instruments that can be found in almost any musical genre. No matter what specific type or amount of strings, the bass is a key foundation in many songs, and provides a unique blend of melodic and percussive elements. I look to immerse my students into the technical aspects of the instrument, music theory and how it is specifically used for bass, and to overall cover as much as possible, at their pace of course.
About Enzo
Coming from a lineage of musicians, I am a versatile musician with a variety of years of experience with multiple instruments, which includes bass, piano, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, and percussion (bongos, cajon, etc.) I consider the bass to be my primary instrument, now playing for 4 years, rangi

"Mr. Matthew is a really good teacher because he waits for me when something is really hard and he has taught me some new, really cool songs. I used to think guitar was boring, but he has made it fun. He is very patient and now I LOVE guitar!

Jonathan has a very diverse background, and experience with lots and lots of instruments and musical styles, which all help in the lessons - strategies from concert bass that electric bass players can incorporate, chord inversions common to classical music which can help "pop" type progressions to move forward better, and places where it's appropriate to play funk or Latin styles in straight-ahead folk sorts of tunes. I highly recommend Jonathan, even if just to sit and talk about music for a couple of hours."
Not only did I learn how to play the songs I like, but I also learned key musical concepts and theories that helped to advance my musical skills outside of lessons. I thoroughly enjoyed having Rob as a teacher."

If you’ve ever seen or heard an MTV Unplugged concert, you’ve probably seen and heard an acoustic bass guitar. This is a hollow body instrument that is the size of an acoustic guitar, but has the sound of a bass. In the 1980s and 1990s, rock bands would perform their electric guitar songs with acoustic guitars, and bassists could be heard or seen playing these instruments that are not too common in the world of music. But if they made it all the way to the MTV screens for decades, why h …
